The production of neutral kaons in the reaction K + p → K n + X is studied at the incident momentum of 32 GeV/ c . Inclusive cross sections and single-particle distributions are presented and compared with the data at lower energies. The total inclusive cross section amounts to 7.9 ± 0.3 mb at 32 GeV/ c and is significantly higher than at lower energies due to the rapid rise of multikaon production. The fraction of K n 's coming from the decay of the K ∗ resonances stays roughly constant with energy between 8.2 and 32 GeV/ c . In the central and beam fragmentation regions the single-particle distributions reveal no energy dependence between the 16 and 32 GeV/ c data in contrast with the behaviour at lower energies, while in the proton fragmentation region the data are compatible with the trend observed at lower energies and with theoretical expectations.

The reaction π−A→Aπ− γ at 40 GeV/c was studied on “Sigma” spectrometer on six different nuclear targets in the region of four-momentum transfer |t|<0.05 (GeV/c)2. A phenomenon of elastic scattering of pions on the nuclear Coulomb field photons was observed, its total and differential cross sections were measured. Results of the experimental study of inclusive φ meson production off berillium nuclei by 70 GeV/ c protons in the beam fragmentation region x > 0.41 are presented. Fitting of the measured differential cross sections to the forms d σ d x ∼ (1 − x) n x and d σ d p 2 t ∼ exp (−bp 2 t ) gives the parameters n = 6.0 ± 1.7 and b = (2.4 ± 0.7) (GeV/ c ) −2 . In the framework of a quark-parton model the measured φ meson x -distribution suggests that in the region of x > 0.41 nearly 90% of the φ mesons are produced via a strange sea quark fusion. The ratio of the OZI-forbidden and OZI-allowed transition coupling constants has been found to be ten times smaller than the same ratio calculated from the partial decay widths. The total inclusive cross section is estimated to be σ (pN → φ X) = (0.7 ± 0.2) × 10 −27 cm 2 .

Inclusive production of Δ ++ (1232) with >| t p, Δ ++>|<0.6 (GeV/ c ) 2 is studied in 32 GeV/ c K + p interactions. A systematic comparison with the reaction K + p→pX for >| t p,p>| < 0.6 (GeV/ c ) 2 is made. The production properties of the Δ ++ (1232), of associated π + , π − and K 0 production and of the recoiling system X 0 are investigated in detail. The polarization of the Δ ++ and the energy dependence of the total K + π − cross sections, determined by a Chew-Low extrapolation, are presented and discussed.
