A search has been made for direct photon production in pBe interactions at 200 and 300 GeV/ c over the kinematic region 1.5 < P ⊥ < 4.0 GeV/ c and −0.7 < X F < 0 (90° < θ cms < 160°). An excess of single photons above that which is predicted from the measured π 0 and η 0 production is observed. Theratio of γ / π 0 production is calculated assuming that the excess arises from direct photon production. We find that this ratio averages 0.070 ± 0.025 (including systematic errors) in this region of X F and P ⊥ for our 200 and 300 GeV/ c data. We have used our measured value of the η / π 0 ratio of 0.47 ± 0.10 in the determination of the γ / π 0 ratio. The variation of γ / π 0 with X F , P ⊥ , X R and θ cms presented.

We report a measurement of the electroweak parameters sin2θw and ϱ based on the ratios of neutral current to charged current events measured in the Fermilab narrow-band neutrino beam at energies of 30–240 GeV. The data are fully corrected for radiative effects, heavy-quark production, and other effects. The best value for sin2θw obtained, sin2θw=0.239±0.011, is consistent with the most recent values fromW andZ production, as well as from other neutrino experiments.

Nucleon structure functions obtained from neutrino and anti-neutrino scattering on iron nuclei at high energies (Ev=30 to 250 GeV) are presented. These results are compared with the results of other lepton-nucleon scattering experiments. The structure functions are used to test the validity of the Gross-Llewellyn-smith sum rule, which measures the number of valence quarks in the nucleons, and to obtain leading and second order QCD fits.

The energy dependence of the cross section for neutrino- and antineutrino-nucleon charged-current interactions has been determined from data taken in Fermilab's dichromatic neutrino beam. σνE=(0.669±0.003±0.024)×10−38 cm2/GeV and σν¯E=(0.340±0.003±0.02)×10−38 cm2/GeV are found. These results are higher than some previous measurements.

The differential cross sections for γ p→ π + n from hydrogen and the π − π + ratios from deuterium were measured at nine c.m. angles between 30° and 150° for laboratory photon energies between 260 and 800 MeV. A magnetic spectrometer with three layers of scintillation hodoscope was used to detect charged π mesons. The cross section for γ n→ π − p was obtained as a product of d σ d Ω (γ p →π + n ) and the π − π + ratio. The overall features in the cross sections of the two reactions, γ p→ π + n and γ n→ π − p, and in the ratios, π − π + , agree with predictions by Moorhouse, Oberlack and Rosenfeld, and Metcalf and Walker. An investigation of the possible existence of an isotensor current was made and a negative result was found. In detailed balance comparison with the new results on the inverse reaction π − p→ γ n, no apparent violation of time-reversal invariance was observed.

This Letter reports evidence of triple gauge boson production $pp\to W(\ell\nu)\gamma\gamma + X$, which is accessible for the first time with the 8 TeV LHC data set. The fiducial cross section for this process is measured in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb$^{-1}$, collected by the ATLAS detector in 2012. Events are selected using the $W$ boson decay to $e\nu$ or $\mu\nu$ as well as requiring two isolated photons. The measured cross section is used to set limits on anomalous quartic gauge couplings in the high diphoton mass region.
The measured inclusive ($N_{jet}\geq$ 0) fiducial cross section in the e$\nu\gamma\gamma$, $\mu\nu\gamma\gamma$ channels together with the combined $\ell\nu\gamma\gamma$ cross section. The first uncertainty shown is the statistical uncertainty on the measurement, the second one is the total systematic uncertainty (excluding the term coming from the luminosity), the third one is the systematic uncertainty coming from the luminosity. A parton to particle correction factors of 0.99 is applied to the MCFM prediction.
The measured exclusive ($N_{jet}$ = 0) fiducial cross section in the e$\nu\gamma\gamma$, $\mu\nu\gamma\gamma$ channels together with the combined $\ell\nu\gamma\gamma$ cross section. The first uncertainty shown is the statistical uncertainty on the measurement, the second one is the total systematic uncertainty (excluding the term coming from the luminosity), the third one is the systematic uncertainty coming from the luminosity. A parton to particle correction factor of 0.87 is applied to the MCFM prediction.
Observed and expected 95\% CL limits obtained for the $f_{\mathrm{T0}}/\Lambda^4$, $f_{\mathrm{M2}}/\Lambda^4$ and $f_{\mathrm{M3}}/\Lambda^4$ aQGC parameters for the combination of the two channels. The values of $n = 0,\,1,\,2$ are the exponential choices of the form factor, $\Lambda_{\rm{FF}}$ is fixed to $600$ GeV for $f_{\mathrm{T0}}/\Lambda^4$ and to $500$ GeV for the other parameters. The $n=0$ choice produces the limits without the form factor applied.
Results of a search for new phenomena in events with an energetic photon and large missing transverse momentum in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV are reported. Data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb-1 are used. Good agreement is observed between the data and the Standard Model predictions. The results are translated into exclusion limits on models with large extra spatial dimensions and on pair production of weakly interacting dark matter candidates.

The four-lepton ($4\ell$, $\ell = e, \mu$) production cross section is measured in the mass range from 80 to 1000 GeV using 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ of data in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The $4\ell$ events are produced in the decays of resonant $Z$ and Higgs bosons and the non-resonant $ZZ$ continuum originating from $q\bar q$, $gg$, and $qg$ initial states. A total of 476 signal candidate events are observed with a background expectation of $26.2 \pm 3.6$ events, enabling the measurement of the integrated cross section and the differential cross section as a function of the invariant mass and transverse momentum of the four-lepton system. In the mass range above $180$ GeV, assuming the theoretical constraint on the $q\bar q$ production cross section calculated with perturbative NNLO QCD and NLO electroweak corrections, the signal strength of the gluon-fusion component relative to its leading-order prediction is determined to be $\mu_{gg}=2.4 \pm 1.0 (stat.) \pm 0.5 (syst.)\pm 0.8 (theory)$.

Measured cross sections in the fiducial phase space ($\sigma^\mathrm{fid}$) and extended phase space ($\sigma^\mathrm{ext}$), compared to their SM predictions. One should note that the non-resonant $gg$-induced signal cross section is only calculated at LO approximation.
This Letter presents the first search for a heavy particle decaying into an e\mu final state in sqrt(s)=7 TeV pp collisions at the LHC. The data were recorded by the ATLAS detector during 2010 and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 35/pb. No excess above the Standard Model background expectation is observed. Exclusions at 95% confidence level are placed on two representative models. In an R-parity violating supersymmetric model, tau sneutrinos with a mass below 0.75 TeV are excluded, assuming single coupling dominance and the couplings lambda'_{311}=0.11, lambda_{312}=0.07. In a lepton flavor violating model, a Z'-like vector boson with masses of 0.70 to 1.00 TeV and corresponding cross sections times branching ratios of 0.175 to 0.183 pb is excluded. These results extend to higher mass RPV sneutrinos and LFV Z's than previous constraints from the Tevatron.
