An energy-independent phase-shift analysis ofπ+p-scattering has been carried out at 16 energies in the region 194–600 MeV. The new data on elastic polarization, obtained in LNPI up to 1983, were included.

The ITEP-PNPI collaboration presents the results of the measurements of the spin rotation parameter A in the elastic scattering of positive and negative pions on protons at P_beam = 1.62 GeV/c. The setup included a longitudinally-polarized proton target with superconductive magnet, multiwire spark chambers and a carbon polarimeter with thick filter. Results are compared to the predictions of partial wave analyses. The experiment was performed at the ITEP proton synchrotron, Moscow.

Differential cross sections for the process pi +d to pp at seven energies in the region Tpi =280-450 MeV and in the angular range theta * approximately=4-90 degrees have been measured on the LNPI synchrocyclotron. The results include 94 new data points. The measurements have been carried out using a ten-channel hodoscope set-up. Statistical errors are between 2.5% and 7.8% depending on the scattering angle and Tpi . The data obtained indicate that there is an essential contribution from the partial wave with orbital angular momentum l=3 over the whole energy range considered. The authors also observe a noticeable contribution from the l=4 partial wave to the differential cross sections of the pi +d to pp reaction from Tpi >or=357 MeV. The total cross sections for the process pi +d to pp are also presented.

The ITEP-PNPI collaboration presents the first results of the spin rotation parameter A + measurements in the second resonance region. The experiment was performed at the ITEP accelerator at a positive pion beam momentum 1.43 GeV/c for scattering angles θ cm = 127° and 133°. The setup was based on a polarized proton target and a carbon-plate polarimeter. The obtained data is compared with the predictions of the existing partial-wave analyses.

Total cross sections for the reaction π + d → pp have been measured for incident pion energies T π =26.5, 28.5, 30.5, 32.5 and 39.5 MeV. The data are in good agreement with previous experiments. There is some indication of a peculiarity in the energy dependence of the total cross section near incident pion energy T π =30 MeV.
Statistical errors only. Systematic error is estimated as < 8 pct.
We report a new measurement of the differential cross section for π−p→π0n from pπ=649 to 752 MeV/c, which is around the opening of the η channel (685 MeV/c). Our data support the main features of the π−p charge-exchange differential cross sections generated by the SAID πN partial-wave analysis. The opening of the η channel has a clear effect on the shape of the excitation function for dσ(π−p→π0n), which is most noticeable in the backward direction.
Differential cross section for incident pion momentum 649, 654 and 657 MeV.
Differential cross section for incident pion momentum 661, 666 and 669 MeV.
Differential cross section for incident pion momentum 673, 678 and 681 MeV.
