We have measured ρ0, ω (combined) and ϕ electroproduction over a range of virtual-photon four-momentum Q2 from 0.4 to 2.2 GeV2 and for photon energies ν from 2.7 to 8.6 GeV. We find that the slope of the t (momentum transfer) dependence of the ρ0 and ω forward peak decreases with increasing Q2 to less than half of the photoproduction slope.
The cross section for virtual photon are derived from E- P cross section bydividing on the virtual-photon flux factor.
We have measured ep, eπ+, and eπ− coincidences for scattered electrons in the range Q2=0.4 to 2.2 GeV2 and W=2 to 4 GeV. We find (a) that vector-meson production decreases with Q2 more rapidly than does the total virtual-photon-plus-proton cross section, more rapidly even than the prediction of simple vector dominance, (b) that the slope of the t distribution in ρ and ω production becomes flatter with increasing Q2 and seems to be at least approximately a function of the single variable xρ=(Q2+mρ2)2Mν, (c) that the fraction of final states containing a proton decreases with increasing Q2, (d) that in the central region of longitudinal momenta the inclusive π+ yield seems to increase relative to the π− yield as Q2 increases, and (e) that the average transverse momentum of π− is greater than of π+ in the central region of longitudinal momenta.

Differential cross sections for elastic scattering of negative pions on protons are presented for 16 momenta between 996 MeV/ c and 1342 MeV/ c . The cross sections are compared with the predictions from published phase-shift analyses.

Differential cross sections for elastic scattering of negative kaons on protons are presented for 13 incident laboratory momenta between 1094 MeV/c and 1377 MeV/c. The data show the characteristic forward diffraction-like peak and backward dip and are adequately described in shape by certain published partial-wave analyses of the N system.

Employing a neutral kaon beam at the Argonne Zero Gradient Synchrotron, a high-resolution magnetic spectrometer, and a neutron detector, differential cross sections have been obtained in the forward direction [0.045<|t|<0.18 (GeV/c)2] for the reaction KL0p→K+n. Previous studies of the time-reversed process in deuterium, K+d→K0p(p), have not yielded direct cross-section measurements in the forward direction because there is an inhibition of the non-spin-flip process in deuterium due to the Pauli exclusion principle. Nevertheless, our data are in agreement with the extracted free-neutron cross sections of deuterium studies as determined from the impulse and closure approximations.

A study of inclusive Ξ − production from a high statistics K − p experiment at 4.2 GeV/ c has been made. The total Ξ − production cross section is 157 ± 8 μ b. Approximately 15% of the Ξ − arise from decay of the Ξ ∗0 (1530) resonance. The polarization of the Ξ − is found to be negative and is nearly equal in value to that of the Λ 0 from the inclusive reaction K − + p → Λ 0 + anything. An analysis of the inclusive production of Ξ − has been made in the framework of the triple-Reege formalism.

We present differential cross sections and the Σ + polarization for the reactions K − p → π ∓ Σ ± using data from a high statistics bubble chamber experiment at 4.2 GeV/ c incident momentum. The statistical level allows a detailed analysis of these reactions over the whole t range. Several significant structures are observed. Comparisons are made with SU(3)-related reactions; for backward production of π − Σ + such a comparison shows good evidence for Δ exchange. The exotic forward peak in K − p → π + Σ − is definitely confirmed.

The differential cross section for scattering of pions on deuterons was measured at LAMPF at laboratory momenta of 343, 441, 539, and 637 MeVc, using an E−ΔE method to identify the recoil deuterons. Angles ranged from 40° to 160° in the center of mass system. The momentum resolution was σ=±3.5% and the angular resolution was ± 1.70° in the laboratory system. The experimental method is discussed, and results are presented and compared with other experimental data as well as with various theoretical calculations. We have measured in a single experimental setup the differential cross sections and polarizations of the Y*(1385) produced in the two line-reversed reactions π+p→K+Y*(1385) (260 eV/μb) and K−p→π−Y*(1385) (180 eV/μb) at 11.5 GeV/c. We compare these results to Σ+ production in the same experiment. The data have been derived from a triggered bubble-chamber experiment using the SLAC Hybrid Facility. We find that both helicity-flip-dominated (Y*) and helicity-nonflip-dominated (Σ) processes are consistent with weak-exchange-degeneracy predictions.
