Inspire Record 317825 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29352

The total and differential cross-sections for the reaction e + e − → γγ ( γ ) are measured at centre of mass energies around 91 GeV using an integrated luminosity of 4.7 pb −1 . The aggreement with QED prediction is good. Consequently there is no evidence for non-standard channels which would have the same experimental signature. The lower limits on the QED cuttoff parameters are Λ + > 113 GeV and Λ − > 95 GeV. An upper limit on the effective coupling between a possible excited electron and the gamma is derived. At 95% confidence level the branching ratios for Z 0 decay into π 0 γ, ηψ and γγγ are below 1.5 × 10 −4 , 2.8 × 10 −4 and 1.4 × 10 −4 respectively.

Search for multi - baryonic resonances in the anti-p + d ---> pi- + X reaction

Nucl.Phys.A 528 (1991) 608-620, 1991.
Inspire Record 323124 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.36714

The reaction p + d → π − + X has been studied at Saturne at 1.45, 2.10 and 2.70 GeV, using the spectrometer SPES III. The analysing power and the differential cross sections show no evidence for narrow structures which could be interpreted as a resonance in the three baryon system. At the lowest incident energy, the shapes of the experimental cross sections are well reproduced by phase-space distributions.

Measurement of the cross-sections of the reactions e+ e- ---> gamma gamma and e+ e- ---> gamma gamma gamma at LEP

The OPAL collaboration Akwawy, M.Z. ; Alexander, G. ; Allison, J. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 257 (1991) 531-540, 1991.
Inspire Record 302587 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29464

The cross section of the pure QED process e + e − → γγ has been measured using data accumulated during the 1989 and 1990 scans of the Z 0 resonance at LEP. Both the energy dependence and the angular distribution are in good agreement with the QED prediction. Upper limits on the branching ratios of Z 0 → γγ , Z 0 → π 0 γ and Z 0 → ηγ have been set at 1.4×10 −4 , 1.4×10 −4 and 2.0×10 −4 respectively. Lower limits on the cutoff parameters of the modified electron propagator have been found to be Λ + > 117 GeV and Λ − > 110 GeV. The reaction e + e − → γγγ has also been studied and was found to be consistent with the QED prediction. An upper limit on the branching ratio of Z 0 → γγγ has been set at 6.6 × 10 −5 . All the limits are given at 95% confidence level.

A Search for substructure of leptons and quarks with the CELLO detector

Z.Phys.C 51 (1991) 149-156, 1991.
Inspire Record 301727 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.14981

Differential cross section data of the CELLO experiment on pair production of muons, taus, and heavy quarks ine+e−-annihilation are presented and analysed, together with our data on Bhabha scattering, in terms of compositeness effects characterized by the mass scale Λ. We discuss difficulties in the combination of limits Λ from different experiments. The appropriate parameter to combine different results turns out to be ɛ=±1/Λ2, which is in contrast to Λ Gaussian distributed.

Measurement of the analyzing power and the differential cross-section of the anti-p p charge exchange reaction at LEAR

Phys.Lett.B 246 (1990) 267-272, 1990.
Inspire Record 296501 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29676

As part of a programme to study the spin structure of the p p→ n n channel, we have measured the analysing power A 0 n and the differential cross section at an incident antiproton beam momentum of 704 MeV/ c . The analysing power exhibits a remarkable angular dependence, which is poorly reproduced by the existing potential models.

Measurement of the Reaction $\bar{p} p \to \bar{\ell}$ambda Sigma0 + $c$.$c$. At 1.695-{GeV}/$c$

Phys.Lett.B 246 (1990) 273-277, 1990.
Inspire Record 295561 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29675

The reaction p p → Λ Σ 0 together with its charge conjugate channel (c.c.) has been measured at LEAR. The incident p momentum was 1.695 GeV/ c , corresponding to an excess energy above threshold of 14.8 MeV. Results are given for the production cross section and the differential cross section as well as for the polarization. Comparisons are made with theoretical calculations and with the reaction p p → Λ Λ .

A Study of the Reaction $e^+ e^- \to \gamma \gamma$ at {LEP}

Phys.Lett.B 241 (1990) 133-140, 1990.
Inspire Record 294809 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29717

The pure QED reaction e + e − → γγ has been studied at centre of mass energies around the mass of the Z 0 boson using data recorded by the OPAL detector at LEP. The results are in good agreement with the QED prediction. Lower limits on the cutoff parameters of the modified electron propagator are found to be Λ + >89 GeV and Λ. The lower limit on the mass of an excited electron is 82 GeV assuming the coupling constant λ =1. Upper limits on the branching ratios of Z 0 → γγ , Z 0 → π 0 γ and Z 0 → ηγ are set at 3.7×10 −4 , 3.9×10 −4 and 5.8×10 −4 respectively. Two events from the reaction e + e − → γγγ have been observed, consistent with the QED prediction. An upper limit on the branching ratio of Z 0 → γγγ is set at 2.8×10 −4 . All the limits are given at 95% confidence level.

Proton proton bremsstrahlung at 280-MeV

Michaelian, K. ; Kitching, P. ; Hutcheon, D.A. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 41 (1990) 2689-2704, 1990.
Inspire Record 304884 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23001

A proton-proton bremsstrahlung experiment has been carried out at TRIUMF using a 280-MeV polarized proton beam impinging on a liquid-hydrogen target. All three outgoing particles were detected: the higher-energy proton in a magnetic spectrometer, the lower-energy proton with plastic scintillators, and the photon in lead-glass Cherenkov detectors. The experiment shows the first unambiguous evidence for off-shell effects in the free nucleon-nucleon interaction, in that the analyzing powers disagree strongly with the predictions of the soft-photon approximation (which incorporates only on-shell information) but are consistent with the results of calculations using the Bonn and Paris potentials.

DEUTERON A(Q**2) STRUCTURE FUNCTION AND THE NEUTRON ELECTRIC FORM-FACTOR

Nucl.Phys.A 510 (1990) 740-758, 1990.
Inspire Record 292515 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.36877

We have measured the deuteron A ( Q 2 ) structure function in the momentum transfer region between 1 and 18 fm −2 . The accuracy of the data ranges from 2 to 6%. These measurements allow a sensitive test of theoretical predictions. We find that meson-exchange currents and relativistic corrections significantly improve the agreement between experiment and theory. We investigate the sensitivity of A ( Q 2 ) to the nucleon-nucleon interaction and to the neutron electric form factor G E n ( Q 2 ). Our analysis shows that G E n ( Q 2 ) can be extracted from these data with a significantly improved accuracy. The model dependence of this analysis is discussed.
