We have measured the B0B¯0 mixing probability, χd, using a sample of 965 000 BB¯ pairs from Υ(4S) decays. Counting dilepton events, we find χd=0.157±0.016±0.018−0.021+0.028. Using tagged B0 events, we find χd=0.149±0.023±0.019±0.010. The first (second) error is statistical (systematic). The third error reflects a ±15% uncertainty in the assumption, made in both cases, that charged and neutral B pairs contribute equally to dilepton events. We also obtain a limit on the CP impurity in the Bd0 system, ‖Re(εB0)‖<0.045 at 90% C.L.

Mixing parameter from counting dilepton events. CONST(N=MIXING PARAM) = 1/(1 - LAMBDA(C,N)) * (N(2LEPTON+) + N(2LEPTON-))/(N(LEPTON+,LEPTON-) + N(2LEPTON+) + N(2LEPTON-)). LAMBDA(C,N) is the fraction of dilepton events coming from B+B- decays, LAMBDA(C,N) = f(B+)*Br(B+)**2/(f(B+)*Br(B+)**2 + f(B0)*Br(B0)**2), where f(B+),f(B0) are the productiron fractions of the charged and neutral B's at the UPSI(4S), and Br(B+), Br(B0) are the semileptonic brancing fractions.

Measurement of the spin dependent structure function g1(x) of the deuteron.

The Spin Muon collaboration Adeva, B. ; Ahmad, S. ; Arvidson, A. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 302 (1993) 533-539, 1993.
Inspire Record 354911 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28926

We report on the first measurement of the spin-dependent structure function g 1 d of the deuteron in the deep inelastic scattering of polarised muons off polarised deuterons, in the kinematical range 0.006< x <0.6, 1 GeV 2 < Q 2 <30 GeV 2 . The first moment, Γ 1 d =ʃ 0 1 g 1 d d x=0.023±0.020 ( stat. ) ± 0.015 ( syst. ) , is smaller than the prediction of the Ellis-Jaffe sum rules. Using earlier measurements of g 1 p , we infer the first moment of the spin-dependent neutron structure function g 1 n . The difference Γ 1 p − Γ 1 n =0.20±0.05 (stat.) ± 0.04 (syst.) agrees with the prediction of the Bjorken sum rule, Γ 1 p − Γ 1 n =0.191±0.002.

Phys.Lett.B 309 (1993) 477-482, 1993.
Inspire Record 354238 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28907

We present results on the cross-section ratio for inelastic muon scattering on neutrons and protons as a function of Bjorken chi;. The data extend to χ values two orders of magnitude smaller than in previous measurements, down to 2×10 −5 , for Q 2 >0.01 GeV 2 . The ratio is consistent with unity throughout this new range.

Inclusive production of eta-prime (958) and f0 (975) mesons in the upsilon energy region

The ARGUS collaboration Albrecht, H. ; Ehrlichmann, H. ; Hamacher, T. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 58 (1993) 199-206, 1993.
Inspire Record 342061 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.14425

The inclusive production cross sections of η′ (958) andfo (975) mesons are measured ine+e− annihilation in the nonresonant continuum around\(\sqrt s= 10\) GeV and in decays of the υ resonances using the ARGUS detector. For η′ (958) mesons, a production ratio of η′ (958)/ηdir=0.35±0.24, with ηdir=η−BR(η′→ηX)·η′, is determined in direct υ(1S) decays, which can be partially explained by the pseudoscalar singlet/octet mixing. Forfo(975) production, we obtain a production ratio offo(975)/p(770)°=0.17±0.030 in direct υ(1S) decays. In its production features, thefo(975) behaves like an ordinary meson, though aK\(\bar K\) molecule nature cannot be excluded. The substantial production yield of thefo(975) meson demonstrates the important effect of feeddown from mesons beyond the basic multiples on pseudoscalar and vector meson production.

Total photoproduction cross-section measurement at HERA energies

The H1 collaboration Ahmed, T. ; Andreev, V. ; Andrieu, B. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 299 (1993) 374-384, 1993.
Inspire Record 340891 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.45139

We present first results on the total photoproduction cross section measurement with the H1 detector at HERA. The data were extracted from low Q 2 collisions of 26.7 GeV electrons with 820 GeV protons. The γp total cross section has been measured by two independent methods in the γp center of mass energy range from 90 to 290 GeV. For an average center of mass energy of 195 GeV a value of σ tot ( γp ) = 159 ± 7 (stat.) ± 20 (syst.) μb was obtained.

Observation of hard scattering in photoproduction at HERA

The ZEUS collaboration Derrick, M. ; Krakauer, D. ; Magill, S. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 297 (1992) 404-416, 1992.
Inspire Record 339388 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.45149

We report a study of electron proton collisions at very low Q 2 , corresponding to virtual photoproduction at centre of mass energies in the range 100–295 GeV. The distribution in transverse energy of the observed hadrons is much harder than can be explained by soft processes. Some of the events show back-to-back two-jet production at the rate and with the characteristics expected from hard two-body scattering. A subset of the two-jet events have energy in the electron direction consistent with that expected from the photon remnant in resolved photon processes.

A Measurement of the ratio of the nucleon structure function in copper and deuterium

The European Muon collaboration Ashman, J. ; Badelek, B. ; Baum, G. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 57 (1993) 211-218, 1993.
Inspire Record 341575 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.14499

Results are presented on the ratios of the nucleon structure function in copper to deuterium from two separate experiments. The data confirm that the nucleon structure function,F2, is different for bound nucleons than for the quasi-free ones in the deuteron. The redistribution in the fraction of the nucleon's momentum carried by quarks is investigated and it is found that the data are compatible with no integral loss of quark momenta due to nuclear effects.

Measurements of R(d) - R(p) and R(Ca) - R(C) in deep inelastic muon scattering

The New Muon collaboration Amaudruz, P. ; Arneodo, M. ; Arvidson, A. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 294 (1992) 120-126, 1992.
Inspire Record 340582 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29038

Results are presented on the difference in R , the ratio of longitudinally to transversely polarised virtual photon absorption cross sections, for the deuteron and the proton. They are obtained by comparing the ratio of cross sections for the deep inelastic scattering of muons from deuterium and hydrogen targets at 90 and 280 GeV incident energy. The results cover the range x =0.01–0.30, at an average Q 2 of 9 GeV 2 . The measured difference R d - R p shows no significant x dependence and is compatible with zero, as well as with expectations from perturbative QCD. We use the same method to obtain the difference R Ca - R C from cross section ratios measured on carbon and calcium targets at 90 and 200 GeV incident energy.
