Electron-proton elastic scattering cross sections have been measured at four-momentum transfers between 1.0 and 3.0 (GeV/ c ) 2 and at electron scattering angles between 10° and 20° and at about 86° in the laboratory. The proton electromagnetic form factors G E and G M were determined. The results indicate that G E ( q 2 ) decreases faster with increasing q 2 than G M ( q 2 ).

Production of single negative pions from deuterium with polarized photons

The asymmetry A=(dσ⊥−dσ∥)(dσ⊥+dσ∥) of the differential cross section for the reaction γd→π−pp has been studied with linearly polarized photons of 3.0 GeV at squared four-momentum-transfers between 0.15 and 2.0 (GeV/c)2. The asymmetry was found to be positive at −t values below 0.3 (GeV/c)2, dipping to negative values between 0.4 and 0.6 (GeV/c)2, and then rising again to positive values above 0.7 (GeV/c)2.

Pi+ photoproduction from hydrogen with polarized photons

Phys.Rev.Lett. 25 (1970) 1053-1056, 1970.
Inspire Record 62861 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21600

The reaction γ⊥,∥p→π+n has been studied with linearly polarized photons of energy 3.0 GeV at −t values between 0.15 and 1.2 (GeVc)2. The asymmetry A+=(dσ⊥−dσ∥)(dσ⊥+dσ∥) is found to be positive throughout this four-momentum-transfer range, implying the dominance of natural parity exchange in the t channel. Comparison of dσ⊥(γ⊥p→π+n) and dσ⊥p→π−p) from a previous experiment indicates strong interference between the isoscalar and isovector photon amplitudes for photons polarized perpendicular to the production plane.

Photoproduction of pi0 on protons by polarized gamma rays

Barbiellini, G. ; Bologna, G. ; Capon, G. ; et al.
Phys.Rev. 184 (1969) 1402-1413, 1969.
Inspire Record 62287 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.26495

The asymmetry Σ(k,θ*)=(dσ⊥−dσ∥)(dσ⊥+σ∥) of the polarized cross sections for π0 photoproduction has been measured at θ*=90° for energies k of the incident photon in the range 230-380 MeV. The experiment has been performed with the polarized γ-ray beam of the Frascati 1-GeV electron synchrotron. The experimental results are compared with the present theoretical predictions in order to investigate the importance of ω exchange in the t channel and the contribution of the E1+(3) multipole at the 33 resonance. The theory with ω exchange is in the best agreement with the experiment.

Coincidence measurements of single-pion electroproduction near the delta(1236) resonance

Differential cross sections for the reactions e−+p→e−+p+π0 and e−+p→e−+n+π+ have been measured near the Δ(1236) resonance at four-momentum transfers of 0.05, 0.13, 0.25, and 0.4 (GeV/c)2. A few measurements of the π+ angular distribution have been obtained at a four-momentum transfer of 0.6 (GeV/c)2. Cross sections for the π0 reaction are compared with dispersion-theory predictions at several pion-nucleon c.m. energies for each four-momentum transfer. A phenomenological analysis of the π0 results leads to the determination of the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole partial-wave amplitudes and the γNΔ transition form factor. Evidence is found for the existence of a significant scaler-transverse interference term in the cross section, which is tentatively associated with the resonant scaler quadrupole interaction. Cross sections for π+ electroproduction are compared with dispersion theories using the pion form factor as a free parameter. The results suggest a form factor similar to that of the proton. A fit to the form-factor results, using the ρ-dominance model, requires mρ=560±80 MeV. The rms pion charge radius is estimated to be 〈r2〉12=0.86±0.14 F.

Phys.Lett.B 31 (1970) 669-672, 1970.
Inspire Record 63153 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27111

Neutron-proton total cross-sections were measured in the momentum range from 8 GeV/ c to 21 GeV/ c with an accuracy of better than 2% using a 0 o neutron beam at the CERN Proton Synchrotron. The np total cross-section drops from 39.7 mb at 8 GeV/ c at 21 GeV/ c , and thus follows closely the pp total cross-sections in this momentum interval.

Angular dependence of k-l k-s regenerative scattering for copper and lead nuclei at high energies

Phys.Lett.B 31 (1970) 544-548, 1970.
Inspire Record 63172 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28805

Elastic and inelastic K L  S regenerative scattering on copper and lead nuclei have been observed up to a momentum transfer of 0.17 GeV/ c . The elastic differential cross-section is of a ”diffractive” type. It can be described successfully in terms of an optical model only assuming an appreciable neutron excess in the vicinity of the nuclear surface.
