HEPData Search

The production of$\bar D$ mesons in neutroncarbon interactions at 40–70 GeV/c has been investigated. The$\bar D$ mesons were detected via the hadronic decay modes$\bar D^0\to K^{* + } (892)\pi ^ -$ andD−→K*+(892)π−π−. In the kinematical regionxF>0.5 andpT<1 GeV/c the following inclusive cross sections were measured:$\sigma _{\bar D^0 }= (28 \pm 14)\mu b$ and$\sigma _{D^ -}= (28 \pm 13)\mu b$ per carbon nucleus. The invariant longitudinal momentum spectra can be described by (1−x)N with$N_{\bar D^0 }= 1.1 \pm 0.5 \pm 0.4$ and$N_{D^ -}= 0.8 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.4$ The transverse momentum spectra were parametrized by exp (−BpT2) with$B_{\bar D^0 }= (1.2_{ - 0.9}^{ + 1.1} )({{GeV} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{GeV} c}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} c})^{ - 2} $ and$B_{D^ -}= (1.8_{ - 1.0}^{ + 1.3} )({{GeV} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{GeV} c}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} c})^{ - 2} $.

The differential cross-sections in the range of four momentum transfer squared from 0.003 to 0.120 (GeV c) 2 were measured at 30, 50 and 70 GeV by using a thin polyethilene target in the internal proton beam of the Serpukhov accelerator. The slope parameter, the ratio of the real to the imaginary part of the forward amplitude and the cross-section in the diffraction cone were measured.

The measurements of the differential cross section of elastic p-p scattering in relative units were performed in the energy range of 12–70 GeV. The values of the slope parameter were obtained from this data. It was shown that the slope parameter of the differential p-p scattering is monotonously increasing when the proton energy rises in the range 12–70 GeV. We have obtained the slope Pomeranchuk's pole trajectory from this data: α′ p = 0.40 ± 0.09.

Small Angle Elastic p p Scattering at 30-GeV, 50-GeV, and 70-GeV

A thin polyethylene target was exposed to the internal proton beam of the Serpukhov accelerator at 30, 50, and 70 GeV. The wide-angle recoil protons were registered by photoemulsion stacks and the differential cross sections of the elastic p−p scattering in the range of four-momentum transfer squared 0.0025≤|t|≤0.12 (GeV/c)2 were measured. The ratio of the real to the imaginary part of the forward nuclear amplitude α, the slope parameter of the diffraction peak b, and the total elastic cross section σel were found to be as follows: at 30 GeV, α=−0.183±0.051, b=10.61±0.27 (GeV/c)−2, σel=7.7±0.2 mb; at 50 GeV, α=−0.068±0.040, b=11.25±0.28 (GeV/c)−2, σel=7.0±0.2 mb; at 70 GeV, α=−0.104±0.065, b=11.21±0.40 (GeV/c)−2, σel=7.1±0.2 mb.
