The production of electrons by bottom and charm hadrons has been studied in e + e − annihilation at 34.6 GeV center of mass energy. It is observed that the b quark fragmentation function is peaked at large values of the scaling variable z with 〈 z b 〉 = 0.84 +0.15 + 0.15 −0.10 − 0.11 . For c quarks 〈 z c 〉 = 0.57 +0.10 + 0.05 −0.09 − 0.06 is observed. A forward-backward charge asymmetry of A = −0.25 ± 0.22 was measured in b production.

The ALICE Collaboration has measured inclusive J/psi production in pp collisions at a center of mass energy sqrt(s)=2.76 TeV at the LHC. The results presented in this Letter refer to the rapidity ranges |y|<0.9 and 2.5<y<4 and have been obtained by measuring the electron and muon pair decay channels, respectively. The integrated luminosities for the two channels are L^e_int=1.1 nb^-1 and L^mu_int=19.9 nb^-1, and the corresponding signal statistics are N_J/psi^e+e-=59 +/- 14 and N_J/psi^mu+mu-=1364 +/- 53. We present dsigma_J/psi/dy for the two rapidity regions under study and, for the forward-y range, d^2sigma_J/psi/dydp_t in the transverse momentum domain 0<p_t<8 GeV/c. The results are compared with previously published results at sqrt(s)=7 TeV and with theoretical calculations.
Double differential J/$\psi$ production cross section at $\sqrt{s}=2.76$ TeV. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second one is $p_{\rm T}$-coorelated, the third one is uncorrelated. Polarization-related uncertainties are not included.

The PHENIX experiment presents results from the RHIC 2005 run with polarized proton collisions at sqrt(s)=200 GeV, for inclusive \pi^0 production at mid-rapidity. Unpolarized cross section results are given for transverse momenta p_T=0.5 to 20 GeV/c, extending the range of published data to both lower and higher p_T. The cross section is described well for p_T < 1 GeV/c by an exponential in p_T, and, for p_T > 2 GeV/c, by perturbative QCD. Double helicity asymmetries A_LL are presented based on a factor of five improvement in uncertainties as compared to previously published results, due to both an improved beam polarization of 50%, and to higher integrated luminosity. These measurements are sensitive to the gluon polarization in the proton, and exclude maximal values for the gluon polarization.
The neutral pion production cross section at $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV as a function of $p_T$ and the results of NLO pQCD calculations for theory scales $\mu$ = $p_T$/2, $p_T$, and $2p_T$. Additional 9.7% normalization uncertainty is not included.
The double helicity asymmetry ($A_{LL}$) for neutral pion production at $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV as a function of $p_T$ (GeV/$c$). Not included in the figure/table: the correlated for all points scale systematic uncertainty of 9.4% (scales both the values and stat. uncertainties by the same factor).
The single helicity asymmetry ($A_L$) for neutral pion production at $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV as a function of $p_T$ (GeV/$c$). Systematic uncertainties are negligible.
The PHENIX experiment presents results from the RHIC 2006 run with polarized proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 62.4 GeV for inclusive pi^0 production at mid-rapidity. Unpolarized cross section results are measured for transverse momenta p_T = 0.5 to 7 GeV/c. Next-to-leading order perturbative quantum chromodynamics calculations are compared with the data, and while the calculations are consistent with the measurements, next-to-leading logarithmic corrections improve the agreement. Double helicity asymmetries A_LL are presented for p_T = 1 to 4 GeV/c and probe the higher range of Bjorken_x of the gluon (x_g) with better statistical precision than our previous measurements at sqrt(s)=200 GeV. These measurements are sensitive to the gluon polarization in the proton for 0.06 < x_g < 0.4.

The parameter $n$ obtained from the ratio of invariant cross section at $\sqrt{s}$ = 62.4 GeV and $\sqrt{s}$ = 200GeV, at each $x_T$ of $\sqrt{s}$ = 62.4 GeV data; error bars show the statistical and systematic uncertainties of the $\sqrt{s}$ = 62.4 GeV and $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV data.
The energy dependence of the single-transverse-spin asymmetry, A_N, and the cross section for neutron production at very forward angles were measured in the PHENIX experiment at RHIC for polarized p+p collisions at sqrt(s)=200 GeV. The neutrons were observed in forward detectors covering an angular range of up to 2.2 mrad. We report results for neutrons with momentum fraction of x_F=0.45 to 1.0. The energy dependence of the measured cross sections were consistent with x_F scaling, compared to measurements by an ISR experiment which measured neutron production in unpolarized p+p collisions at sqrt(s)=30.6--62.7 GeV. The cross sections for large x_F neutron production for p+p collisions, as well as those in e+p collisions measured at HERA, are described by a pion exchange mechanism. The observed forward neutron asymmetries were large, reaching A_N=-0.08+/-0.02 for x_F=0.8; the measured backward asymmetries, for negative x_F, were consistent with zero. The observed asymmetry for forward neutron production is discussed within the pion exchange framework, with interference between the spin-flip amplitude due to the pion exchange and nonflip amplitudes from all Reggeon exchanges. Within the pion exchange description, the measured neutron asymmetry is sensitive to the contribution of other Reggeon exchanges even for small amplitudes.
The cross section results for forward neutron production in $p$+$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV are shown. Two different forms, exponential and Gaussian, were used for the $p_T$ distribution. The integrated $p_T$ region for each bin is 0 < $p_T$ < 0.11$x_F$ GeV/$c$.

We have calculated the double and triple differential cross sections for electron ejection with energy of 14.6 eV in single ionization of H2 by 75 keV proton impact. A molecular version of the continuum distorted wave-eikonal initial state approach is applied, where the interaction between the projectile and the residual molecular ion is considered more properly than in previous applications of the method. For triple differential cross sections, the present results are in better agreement with the experimental data than those of other descriptions when large momentum transfer values are considered. For double differential cross sections the experimental data are reproduced quite well for both coherent and incoherent proton beams.

Results are reported of a study of neutral vector meson production in multihadronicZ0 decays in the OPAL experiment at LEP. Pions and kaons have been identified by specific ionisation energy loss andK±π∓ andK+K− mass spectra have been fitted, in bins of the scaled momentum variablexp, to combinations of resonance signals and non-resonant backgrounds. Rates are given forK*(892)° and ø(1020), and production cross sections are compared to the predictions of Monte Carlo models. Overall multiplicities have been determined as 0.76±0.07±0.06K*(892)° and 0.086±0.015±0.010 ø(1020) per hadronicZ0 decay (the quoted errors are respectively statistical and systematic). Momentum dependent distortions of the ππ mass spectra, possibly associated indirectly with Bose-Einstein effects, have prevented reliable measurement of the ρ(770)° cross section in this study.

We have measured the mass of the Z boson to be 91.11±0.23 GeV/c2, and its width to be 1.61−0.43+0.60 GeV. If we constrain the visible width to its standard-model value, we find the partial width to invisible decay modes to be 0.62±0.23 GeV, corresponding to 3.8±1.4 neutrino species.

We have studied J ψ production in p p collisions at s = 1.8 TeV with the DØ detector at Fermilab using μ + μ − data. We have measured the inclusive J ψ production cross section as a function of J ψ transverse momentum, p T . For the kinematic range p T > 8 GeV/ c and |η| < 0.6 we obtain σ(p p → J ψ + X) · Br ( J ψ → μ + μ − ) = 2.08 ± 0.17( stat) ± 0.46(syst) nb. Using the muon impact parameter we have estimated the fraction of J ψ mesons coming from B meson decays to be f b = 0.35 ± 0.09(stat)±0.10(syst) and inferred the inclusive b production cross section. From the information on the event topology the fraction of nonisolated J ψ events has been measured to be f nonisol = 0.64 ± 0.08(stat)±0.06(syst). We have also obtained the fraction of J ψ events resulting from radiative decays of χ c states, f χ = 0.32 ± 0.07(stat)±0.07(syst). We discuss the implications of our measurements for charmonium production processes.
