The first data on the production of D ∗ (2010) are presented as observed in π − -proton interactions at √ s = 27 GeV . It is found that D ∗ (2010) dominates the total charm D-meson production, without a significant non-central component.

ATOMIC PARITY VIOLATION MEASUREMENTS IN THE HIGHLY FORBIDDEN (6)S(1/2) - (7)S(1/2) CESIUM TRANSITION. 3. DATA ACQUISITION AND PROCESSING. RESULTS AND IMPLICATIONS

This paper completes the detailed presentation of our PV experiment on the 6S1/2 - 7S1/2 transition in Cs. A detailed description of the data acquisition and processing is given. The results of two independent measurements made on ΔF = 0 and ΔF =1 hfs components agree, providing an important cross-check. After a complete reanalysis of systematics and calibration, the precision is slightly improved, leading to the weighted average Im Epv 1/β = - 1.52 ± 0.18 mV/cm. Later results from an independent group agree quite well. With the semi-empirical value β = (26.8 ± 0.8) a30, our result yields Epv1 = (- 0.79 ± 0.10) x 10-11 i |e|a0. Coupled with the atomic calculations, this implies that the weak nuclear charge of Cs is Qw = -68 ± 9. This value agrees with the standard electroweak theory and leads to a weak interaction angle sin2 θ W = 0.21 ± 0.04. The complementarity of these measurements with high energy experiments is illustrated.

Polarization of $\Lambda^\prime$s and $\bar{\Lambda}$-primes in $P P$, $\bar{P} P$, and $K^- P$ Interactions at 176-{GeV}/c

We have measured the polarization of Λ's in inclusive pp and K−p reactions and of Λ¯'s in p¯p interactions at a beam momentum of 176 GeV/c. Data were taken in the beam-fragmentation region with hyperon transverse momenta from 0.2 to 1.5 GeV/c. The P¯ produced Λ¯'s have the same magnitude and sign of polarization as the p-produced Λ's, whereas the Λ's from K−p interactions are more highly polarized and in the opposite direction.

Study of Hadron and Inclusive Muon Production From Electron Positron Annihilation at 39.79-{GeV} $\le \sqrt{s} \le$ 46.78-{GeV}

We use the reaction e+e−→hadrons, in the Mark J detector at the DESY electron-positron collider PETRA, to determine the hadronic cross section up to 46.78 GeV. The production of a top quark with a charge equal to (2/3) is excluded up to 46.6 GeV with 95% C.L. The observed rise in the cross section at higher energies is consistent with the electroweak prediction for a Z0 mass of 93 GeV. We describe some unusual muon inclusive events.

A Measurement of the Space - Like Pion Electromagnetic Form-Factor

The NA7 collaboration Amendolia, S.R. ; Arik, M. ; Badelek, B. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 277 (1986) 168, 1986.
Inspire Record 228132 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33611

The pion form factor has been measured in the space-like q 2 region 0.014 to 0.26 (GeV/ c ) 2 by scattering 300 GeV pions from the electrons of a liquid hydrogen target. A detailed description is given of the apparatus, data analysis and corrections to the data. The mean square charge radius extracted from the data is model-dependent. We find that a form which includes a realistic description of the form factor phase gives a similar results to the naive pole form, and conclude 〈r 2 π 〉 = 0.438±0.008 fm 2 .

The cross section of the quasi-elastic reactions\(\bar v_\mup \to \mu ^ +\Lambda (\Sigma ^0 )\) in the energy range 5–100 GeV is determined from Fermilab 15′ bubble chamber antineutrino data. TheQ2 analysis of quasi-elastic Λ events yieldsMA=1.0±0.3 GeV/c2 for the axial mass value. With zero µΛK0 events observed, the 90% confidence level upper limit\(\sigma (\bar v_\mup \to \mu ^ +\Lambda {\rm K}^0 )< 2.0 \cdot 10^{ - 40} cm^2 \) is obtained. At the same time, we found that the cross section of reaction\(\bar v_\mup \to \mu ^ +\Lambda {\rm K}^0+ m\pi ^0 \) is equal to\(\left( {3.9\begin{array}{*{20}c}{ + 1.6}\\{ - 1.3}\\ \end{array} } \right) \cdot 10^{ - 40} cm^2 \).

Cross-sections and Some Features of Charm Photoproduction at $\gamma$ Energies of 20-{GeV} to 70-{GeV}

We report some results on charm photoproduction at γ energies ranging from 20 to 70 GeV. 36 events with pairs of charmed particles have been found in emulsions. The computed total cross section is (230±57)nb/nucleon. Frequencies of different production channels and some distributions are presented and compared with the predictions from a photon-gluon fusion model with string fragmentation.
