We have measured the Λ° polarization in π − p→ K°Λ° at 5 GeV / c , using a data sample of 3709 events. The polarization is positive for small t , passes through zero near t = −0.3 (GeV/ c ) 2 , and becomes large and negative at larger t , consistent with a value of −1.0 for t between −0.7 and −1.6(GeV/ c ) 2 .

Comparisons of Deep Inelastic e p and e n Cross-Sections

Bodek, A. ; Breidenbach, M. ; Dubin, D.L. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 30 (1973) 1087, 1973.
Inspire Record 83716 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21415

Cross sections for inelastic scattering of electrons from hydrogen and deuterium were measured for incident energies from 4.5 to 18 GeV, at scattering angles of 18°, 26°, and 34°, and covering a range of squared four-momentum transfers up to 20 (GeVc)2. Neutron cross sections were extracted from the deuterium data using an impulse approximation. Comparisons with the proton measurements show significant differences between the neutron and proton cross sections.

Elastic scattering of pi- p, K- p and anti-p p at 25-GeV/c and 40-GeV/c

Nucl.Phys.B 57 (1973) 333-347, 1973.
Inspire Record 80976 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32554

Elastic diffraction scattering of π − , K − and p on protons has been measured at 25 and 40 GeV/c at the Serpukhov Proton Accelerator. Differential elastic cross sections and diffraction slopes are presented in the momentum-transfer interval 0.07–0.80 (GeV/ c ) 2 and compared with existing data at lower energies.

CHARACTERISTICS OF MULTI - PION PRODUCTION AT 3.9-GeV/c and 11.9-GeV/c

Johnson, A.D. ; Peters, M.W. ; Stenger, V.J. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 7 (1973) 1314, 1973.
Inspire Record 83722 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.22171

A quasi-two-body model based on one-particle exchange and diffraction dissociation has been fitted to data from π−p interactions at 3.9 and 11.9 GeV/c in which a nucleon and 3-6 pions are present in the final state. It is used to estimate partial cross sections for the contributing interaction mechanisms and the dominant resonances which are produced at these energies. The energy dependence of the cross sections is examined and found to be consistent with expected behavior, and reactions are compared and found to agree with simple factorization.

Elastic scattering and single-pion production in k+ p reactions at 4.27 gev/c

Seidl, A. ;
Phys.Rev.D 7 (1973) 621-636, 1973.
Inspire Record 82569 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.22113

Elastic K+p scattering at a beam momentum of 4.27 GeV/c is studied and compared with elastic K−p scattering in order to extract the imaginary part of the non-Pomeranchukon-exchange amplitude. The single-pion-production cross sections are presented as well as production cross sections and resonance parameters for the Δ(1236), the K*+(890), and the K*+(1420). Production and decay distributions for the Δ++(1236) and the K*+(890) are presented and compared with the absorptive particle-exchange model and with Regge-pole-exchange models.

Measurement of the Slope of the Diffraction Peak for Elastic pp Scattering from 8-GeV to 400-GeV.

Phys.Rev.Lett. 31 (1973) 1088-1091, 1973.
Inspire Record 81722 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21381

The slope b(s) of the forward diffraction peak of p−p elastic scattering has been measured in the momentum-transfer-squared range 0.005≲|t|≲0.09 (GeV/c)2 and at incident proton energies from 8 to 400 GeV. We find that b(s) increases with s, and in the interval 100≲s≲750 (GeV)2 it can be fitted by the form b(s)=b0+2α′lns with b0=8.23±0.27, α′=0.278±0.024 (GeV/c)−2.

From measurements of proton-proton elastic scattering at very small momentum transfers where the nuclear and Coulomb amplitudes interfere, we have deduced values of ρ, the ratio of the real to the imaginary forward nuclear amplitude, for energies from 50 to 400 GeV. We find that ρ increases from -0.157 ± 0.012 at 51.5 GeV to +0.039 ± 0.012 at 393 GeV, crossing zero at 280 ± 60 GeV.

Observations on anti-p d annihilations at rest into two pions

Gray, L. ; Papadopoulou, T. ; Simopoulou, E. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 30 (1973) 1091-1094, 1973.
Inspire Record 84510 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21409

The ratio (p¯d→π−π0ps)(p¯d→π−π+n) at rest, with spectator momenta ≲300 MeVc, has been measured and found to be 0.68 ± 0.07. This implies that (75 ± 8)% of the annihilations in deuterium into two pions come from odd N¯N orbital angular momenta, in disagreement with the S-state-dominance hypothesis. It has also been observed that the p¯d→π−π0ps production rate depends on the spectator momentum, which suggests energy-sensitive N¯N phenomena near threshold.
