Measurement of the x0 cross-sections in pi- p interactions at 1.6 gev/c (x0 ---> neutrals)/(x0 ---> total)

Basile, M. ; Bollini, D. ; Dalpiaz, P. ; et al.
Nuovo Cim.A 3 (1971) 371-384, 1971.
Inspire Record 71622 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37600

The reactions π−p→ n+(X0→total) and π−p→ n+(X0→neutrals) have been studied at 1.6 GeV/c with the Bologna-CERN neutron missing-mass spectrometer. Both reactions have been detected without the use of visual techniques. The results are: σ(X0→total)=(108±14) μb and σ(X0→neutrals)=(20.0±3.5) μb, giving a branching ratio Γ(X0→neutrals)/Γ(X0→total)=(18.5±2.2)%. The branching ratio for other possible, so far undetected, neutral decay modes of the X0 turns out to be (2.4±1.9)%.

Measurements of polarization in pi- p elastic scattering at large angles

Hill, D. ; Koehler, P.F.M. ; Novey, T.B. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 27 (1971) 1241-1243, 1971.
Inspire Record 68894 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.229

We have made measurements of polarization in π−p elastic scattering, with emphasis over the backward region, at 1.60 to 2.28 GeVc. The results indicate the absence of u-channel dominance in the backward region, as was observed in the case of π+p scattering. Comparisons have been made with predictions of various phase-shift analyses which show that the agreement is generally very poor in the backward region.

Observation of small angle proton proton elastic scattering at 30 gev and 45 gev center-of-mass energies

Holder, M. ; Radermacher, E. ; Staude, A. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 35 (1971) 355-360, 1971.
Inspire Record 69228 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.5781

Small angle elastic scattering events have been observed at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. Directions of both particles as well as the collision vertex are reconstructed with the help of four sets of spark chambers, two for each of the two arms. The elastic nature of the events is demonstrated by a collinearity requirement. We find values for the (diffraction) slope parameter in disagreement with the simple linear extrapolation of lower energy (Surpukov) data.

Pi+- p elastic scattering and pi+ p ---> k+ sigma+ at 5.0 gev/c near -t=3.0(gev/c)-squared

Akerlof, C.W. ; Caldwell, P.K. ; Kalbaci, P. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 27 (1971) 219-222, 1971.
Inspire Record 68949 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21476

We have measured the reactions π±p→π±p and π+p→K+Σ+ at 5.0 GeV/c in the region 2.2<−t<3.5 (GeV/c)2. We find the minimum cross section of the dip at −t=2.8 (GeV/c)2 in π+p elastic scattering to be 0.16 ± 0.05 μb/GeV2. The π−p differential cross section exhibits similar structure, while the π+p→K+Σ+ channel shows a steady decline in cross section as |t| increases. The polarization of the Σ+ remains large and positive to at least −t=2.8 (GeV/c)2.

Asymmetry measurements for elastic scattering of k+ mesons by polarized protons

Ehrlich, R.D. ; Etkin, A. ; Glodis, P. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 26 (1971) 925-928, 1971.
Inspire Record 69016 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21466

We report measured values of the asymmetry in the elastic scattering of K+ mesons from polarized protons. The data were obtained at fourteen incident K+ momenta from 1.33 to 2.58 GeVc; the approximate angular range covered was −0.85<cosθKc.m.<0.9. We compare our results with other available measurements and note several significant differences.

Cross sections for p p ---> d rho+ from 4.0 to 12.3 gev/c and a search for the delta+

Anderson, H.L. ; Dixit, M. ; Evans, H.J. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 26 (1971) 108-112, 1971.
Inspire Record 69063 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21629

Forward differential cross sections for isospin-1 bosons produced in p+p→d+x+ were measured using a deuteron missing-mass spectrometer at a small angle between 4.0- and 12.3−GeVc incident momentum. Differential cross sections for π+ and ρ+ were extracted from the spectra using phase-space backgrounds. They range from 10.4 to 0.4 μb/sr for π+ and from 1.4 to 0.3 μb/sr for ρ+. A bump near 6 GeVc appears in both dπ and dρ channels. No clear evidence is seen for higher-mass bosons. The possible δ+ cross sections average less than 0.01 μb/sr.

New results on n p ---> d gamma, and time-reversal invariance

Bartlett, D.F. ; Friedberg, C.E. ; Goldhagen, P.E. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 27 (1971) 881-885, 1971.
Inspire Record 68910 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21459

The angular distribution for the reaction n+p→d+γ has been measured at neutron energies of 475, 560, 625, and 750 MeV. Results based on 31 000 events at nine scattering angles are reported and compared with existing data for the inverse reaction, γ+d→n+p. The angular distributions are found to agree, as predicted by time-reversal invariance.

Proton proton differential cross-sections from 600 to 1800 mev/c

Ryan, B.A. ; Kanofsky, A. ; Devlin, T.J. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 3 (1971) 1-9, 1971.
Inspire Record 68275 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23725

Proton-proton elastic differential cross sections have been measured for incident laboratory momenta of 600-1800 MeVc and c.m. angles of 5°-90°. The data span, in a single experiment, the intermediate energy region from isotropic differential cross sections at lower energies to the development of a clear diffraction peak at higher energies. Parameters for phenomenological formulations derived from the experimental results are presented.
