Differential cross sections and polarizations are presented for the reactions K − p → Λπ 0 , Λη , Λη ′ at 8.25 GeV/ c incident K − momentum. The data, which come from a high statistics experiment in the CERN 2 m bubble chamber, are compared with previous experimental results on the same reactions and with current theoretical ideas.

Inclusive Production of $\pi^0$, $\K^0$(s), $\Lambda^0$, and Anti-lambda0 in 100-{GeV}/c, 200-{GeV}/c and 360-{GeV}/c $\pi^- p$ Interactions

Inclusive cross sections for π 0 , K s 0 , Λ 0 and Λ 0 production in 100, 200 and 360 GeV /c π − p interactions are presented and compared with data at other energies. Invariant cross sections for γ, K s 0 , Λ 0 and Λ 0 production are presented in terms of Feynman x , the rapidity y , and transverse momentum squared, p T 2 . A comparison of the observed γ spectrum is made with the spectra computed assuming that the π 0 momentum distribution is identical to that of the observed π + or π − .

Inclusive Production of Anti-xi+ and $\Xi^-$ in $K^+ p$ Interactions at 32-{GeV}/c

The inclusive production of Ξ + and Ξ − hyperons is investigated in K + p interactions at 32 GeV/ c . The production cross sections, 36.4±9 μ b for the Ξ + and 6.5±3 μ b for the Ξ − , are rising strongly with energy similarly to Λ and Λ production in K + p interactions. The Ξ + are produced preferentially in the forward direction in the c.m.s., while the Ξ − are produced dominantly backwards. The average transverse momenta 〈p T 〉 Ξ + =0.73±0.09 GeV /c and 〈 p T 〉 Ξ − =0.58±0.09 GeV/ c .

Measurement of the Elastic Scattering of Neutrinos and Anti-neutrinos by Protons

We have observed 217 (66) events of the process νp→νp (ν¯p→ν¯p) with an estimated background of 82 (28). The neutral-to-charged-current ratios are σ(νp→νp)σ(νn→μ−p)=0.11±0.02 and σ(ν¯p→ν¯p)σ(ν¯p→μ+n)=0.19±0.05 for 0.40<Q2<0.90 (GeV/c)2, where -Q2 is the square of the momentum transfer to the nucleon. These yield σ(ν¯p→ν¯p)σ(νp→νp)=0.53±0.17. The neutral-current form factors at Q2=0 are GE=0.5−0.5+0.25, GM=1.0−0.04+0.35, and gA=0.5−0.15+0.2.

Measurement of the Energy and X Dependence of the Y Distributions in Anti-neutrino Interactions

Analysis of 5180 ν¯ interactions shows a variation with energy of the inelasticity (y) distributions over the range 10 to 220 GeV and a dependence on the scaling variable x. From these data are obtained the approximate x dependence of the sea quarks and a limit on the strength of right-handed coupling between the u quark and a massive b quark.

Measurements of the ν and ν¯ weak hadronic neutral-current total cross sections and hadron energy distributions are consistent with a V−A form for this current. They are three standard deviations from pure V, pure A, or a pure T form and unambiguously exclude V+A and any linear combination of S and P.

Measurement of Rates for Muonless Deep Inelastic Neutrino and anti-neutrino Interactions

Relative rates for deep inelastic neutrino and antineutrino scattering without a finalstate muon have been measured. For neutrinos the result is Rν=σ(νμ+nucleon→νμ+hadrons)σ(νμ+nucleon→μ−+hadrons)=0.11±0.05. The corresponding ratio for antineutrinos is Rν¯=0.32±0.09.
