This paper presents measurements of the inclusive production cross sections of Λ baryons in e+e− annihilations at s=29 GeV. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 256 pb−1 collected with the High-Resolution Spectrometer at the SLAC storage ring PEP. Comparisons are made to the predictions of the Lund model. The data are well described with use of a strange-diquark suppression parameter, (usud)(sd), of 0.89 ± 0.10−0.16+0.56, and the measured Λc→Λ+X branching ratio of (23 ± 10)%.

We have measured the total and differential cross sections of the reaction e + e − → γγ ( γ ) at center-of-mass energies around 91 GeV, with an integrated luminosity of 14.2 pb −1 . The results are in good agreement with QED predictions. We set lower limits, at 95% confidence level, on the QED cutoff parameters of Λ + > 139 GeV, Λ − > 108 GeV and on the mass of an excited electron of m e∗ > 127 GeV . We searched for Z 0 rare decays with photonic signitures in the final state. Upper limits, at 95% confidence level, for branching ratio of Z 0 decaying into π 0 γ / γγ , νγ and γγγ are 1.2 × 10 −4 , 1.8 × 10 −4 , 3.3 × 10 −5 respectively.

We report a measurement of the charged K ∗ (892) production in e + e − annihilations at 29 GeV center-of-mass energy. The 300 pb −1 data sample used for this analysis is obtained with the High Resolution Spectrometer at the SLAC storage ring PEP. The total mean multiplicity is measured to be 〈n K ∗± (892) 〉=0.62±0.045±0.04 per hadronic event. Evidence is also given for the production of a charged K 2 ∗ (1430) tensor meson.

The electroweak production asymmetry and the decay fragmentation function for e + e − → c c have been measured at s = 29 GeV using charged D ∗ production over the full kinematic range. The data were taken at PEP using the High Resolution Spectrometer. The measured asymmetry is −0.12 ± 0.08. The total production cross section in units of the point cross section corrected for initial state radiation is R D ∗ = 2.7 ± 0.9 .
ASSUMES SIG(D*+) = SIG(D*0). (EXPT. MEASURES D*+ PRODUCTION ONLY). R VALUE CORRECTED FOR INITIAL STATE RADIATION.

We have studied the reaction e−+p→e−+π++n by detecting the final electron and pion in coincidence. Data are presented in the region of virtual photon mass squared from -0.18 to -1.2 GeV2, and virtual photoproduction center-of-mass energy and angle from 1.85 to 2.50 GeV and 0 to 20°, respectively.

We present a study of energy-energy correlations based on 83 000 hadronic Z 0 decays. From this data we determine the strong coupling constant α s to second order QCD: α s (91.2 GeV)=0.121±0.004(exp.)±0.002(hadr.) −0.006 +0.009 (scale)±0.006(theor.) from the energy-energy correlation and α s (91.2 GeV)=0.115±0.004(exp.) −0.004 +0.007 (hadr.) −0.000 +0.002 (scale) −0.005 +0.003 (theor.) from its asymmetry using a renormalization scale μ 1 =0.1 s . The first error (exp.) is the systematic experimental uncertainly, the statistical error is negligible. The other errors are due to hadronization (hadr.), renormalization scale (scale) uncertainties, and differences between the calculated second order corrections (theor.).
Statistical errors are equal to or less than 0.6 pct in each bin. There is also a 4 pct systematic uncertainty.

The first error given is the experimental error which is mainly the overall systematic uncertainty: the first (DSYS) error is due to hadronization, the second to the renormalization scale, and the third differences between the calculated and second order corrections.

The production of charmed particles by Sigma- of 340 Gev/c momentum was studied in the hyperon beam experiment WA89 at the CERN-SPS, using the Omega-spectrometer. In two data-taking periods in 1993 and 1994 an integrated luminosity of 1600 microb^-1 on copper and carbon targets was recorded. From the reconstruction of 930 +- 90 charm particle decays in 10 decay channels production cross sections for D, antiD, Ds and Lambdac were determined in the region xF>0. Assuming an A^1 dependence of the cross section on the nucleon number, we calculate a total ccbar production cross section of sigma(x_F > 0) = 5.3+- 0.4(stat)+-1.0(syst)+1.0(Xi_c) microb per nucleon. The last term is an upper limit on the unknown contribution from charmed-strange baryon production.
Fits to the DSIG/DXL and DSIG/DPT**2 distributions in the range XL > 0. Theerrors shown are statistical only.. The fits are of the following form:. DSIG/DXL : Const*(1-X)**N. DSIG/DPT**2 : Const*EXP(-B*PT**2).
The production cross sections for anti-charmed and charmed hadrons in the range XL > 0. The Errors are statistical only.
The total CQUARK+CQUARKBAR cross section in the range XL > obtained as the weighted average of the sum of all the measured contributions to the charmed andanti-charmed hadron production in the previous table. second systematic (DSYS) error is due to the uncertainty in the contribution of XI/C production to the cross section.
We report differential cross sections for π − p → n π 0 in the backward hemisphere at incident momenta of 2.6, 3.5, 4.3, 6.0, and 8.0 GeV/c. We observe less pronounced structure than some previous measurements with a shallow dip displaced from that seen in π + p elastic scattering.
