We report measurements of the electroproduction of single charged pions from hydrogen and deuterium targets for values of ε in the range 0.35<ε<0.45. Data were taken with a hydrogen target at the (W, Q2) points (2.15 GeV, 1.2 GeV2), (2.65, 2.0), (2.65, 3.4), (2.65, 6.0), and (2.65, 10.0). Data were taken with a deuterium target at the (W, Q2) points (2.15, 1.2) and (2.65, 2.0). The transverse cross section obtained by using these data in conjunction with earlier data at high ε to separate the longitudinal and transverse components is used in conjunction with the new data and the t-channel Born term to determine the pion form factor and to re-evaluate previously reported measurements. In the range 0.15 GeV2<Q2<10.0 GeV2 the pion form factor can be described by the simple pole form [1+Q2(0.462±0.024)]−1.

Measurement of the Polarization Parameter for anti-Proton-Proton Annihilation Into Charged Pion and Kaon Pairs Between 1.0-GeV/c and 2.2-GeV/c

Inspire Record 119216 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.8355

The polarization parameter P for the reactions p p → π − π + and p p → K − K + has been measured over essentially the full angular range at ll laboratory momenta between 1.0 and 2.2. GeV/ c , using a proton target polarized perpendicular to the scattering plane. The angles and momenta of both final state particles were determined from wire spark chambers, using the deflection caused by the polarized target magnet. Between 1000 and 5300 π − π + events, and 140 and 1300 K − K + events, were measured at each momentum. Differential cross sections for p p → π − π + were obtained. These are in excellent agreement with previous results. The polarization parameter for both channels is very close to +1 over much of the angular range. Legendre polynomial fits to the data are presented.

Four angular distributions of the differential cross section of the reaction γ + p → π 0 + p have been measured at the Bonn 2.5 GeV Synchrotron at pion c.m. angles between 3° and 63° in the photon energy range from 0.9 GeV to 1.2 GeV. The π 0 mesons were detected by their two decay photons. The data are compared with data of other laboratories and predictions of two recent partial-wave analyses.

Nucl.Phys.B 123 (1977) 11-46, 1977.
Inspire Record 118913 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35426

An experiment is described to measure the differential cross section for the charge-exchange reaction K 0 p → K + n from 0.6 to 1.5 GeV/ c incident kaon momentum in the angular range −0.65 < cos θ ∗ < 0.85 The calibration of the kaon beam by observation of K S 0 regeneration is also described. The differential cross sections are fitted with Legendre polynomials and compared with those from the time-reversed reaction using deuterium targets. Qualitative conclusions are drawn on the behaviour of particular charge-exchange amplitudes.

Scalar-Transverse Separation of Electroproduced K+ Lambda and K+ Sigma0 Final States

We present evidence for a large scalar contribution to the cross section for the reaction ep→eK+Λ. No evidence for a scalar contribution is found for the reaction ep→eK+Σ0. This is reminiscent of the results for the π+n and π+Δ0 final states.

Forward Photoproduction of Neutral Pions on Polarized Protons in the Third Resonance Region

Angular distributions of the target symmetry for the reaction γ + p → π 0 + p have been measured at the Bonn 2.5 GeV Electron Synchrotron at pion c.m. angles between 13° and 63° and photon energies of 1.0 and 1.1 GeV. The π 0 mesons were detected by their two decay photons with total absorption lead-glass Čerenkov counters. Butanol was used as target material in a continuous flow 3 He cryostat operating at 0.5 K and 25 kG. The π 0 counting rate from free protons in the butanol target was derived from the measurements of the differential cross section on hydrogen. The data are compared with data of other laboratories and the results of two recent partial-wave analyses.

Qausi-elastic ω production by ep scattering in the kinematic region 0.3. < Q 2 < 1.4 GeV 2 and 1.7 < W < 2.8 GeV was studied using a streamer chamber at DESY. The production angular distribution for γ V p → ω p has a strong non-peripheral component for W < 2 GeV. The ω production cross section falls by a factor of 4 as W changes from 1.7 to 2.8 GeV. In contrast the cross section for ω production with | t | < 0.5 GeV 2 is W independent between 1.7 and 2.8 GeV and for W > 2.0 GeV consistent in both W and Q 2 dependence with the predictions of a model based on one-pion exchange and diffraction.

Study of the Reaction d (p, pi+) t at t(p) = 410-MeV, 605-MeV and 809-MeV

Pion production on a CD2 target has been measured using the high-resolution magnetic spectrometer SPES I. Differential cross sections for the reaction D(p, π+)T have been determed at Tp=410, 605, and 809 MeV. The present data, together with previous results establish a complete angular distribution of the reaction D(p, π+)T at ∼ 600 MeV and the energy dependence of the differential cross section for this reaction at several constant momentum transfers.

Low Momentum K+ d Scattering

The differential cross sections for K+d coherent, breakup, and charge-exchange scattering have been measured at several momenta in the interval 250-600 MeV/c. The data have been fitted using a partial-wave analysis. Assuming an s-wave description of I=1 scattering and using data from the coherent and charge-exchange channels, a description of I=0 K+−N scattering by a combination of s and p waves in a simple single-scattering impulse model has been attempted. The phase shifts obtained are unique up to the Fermi-Yang ambiguity, which can be removed by using existing polarization results at 600 MeV/c.

New data on the K−p elastic and charge exchange reactions are presented in the K− momentum range between 1.934 GeV/c and 2.516 GeV/c. A conventional energy-dependent partial-wave analysis covering the widerPK- range from 1.6 GeV/c to 2.516 GeV/c is presented together with a p.w.a. in which the duality ands-helicity conservation ideas are explicitly imposed in the fits. Finally the new Y*’s observed in this experiment are classified inSU3 multiplets.
