Production and decay properties of the B-meson are studied in the reactions π±p→B±p at 11 GeV/c. Values for mass, width, total and differential cross-sections and spin density matrix elements are given. The spin and parity, and the helicity states in the B→πω decay, are analysed.

ASSUMING B HAS SPIN-PARITY OF 1+.
A detailed analysis is presented of the reactions pp→pp,pp→ppπ0 and pp→pπ+n. The production cross sections are found to be 11.47 ± 0.33 mb, 2.54 ± 0.16 mb, and 5.73 ± 0.35 mb, respectively. The t dependence of elastic scattering can be described by the form e7.9t over the range 0.05<−t<0.50 GeV2. The single-particle distributions for the single-pion production processes are presented. Further detailed analyses are presented which demonstrate that pion-exchange phenomenology, both elementary and Reggeized, can account for the gross features of the peripheral pp→pπ+n data for M(pπ+)<2.4 GeV. Isospin-12 isobars are produced by some other processes in the channel pp→pN*+, especially when the invariant mass of the pion with the unrelated proton is large. The reaction γp→; π + π − p in the energy range 4.1 to 6.2 GeV has been studied with a tagged photon beam incident on a liquid hydrogen target in the DESY one-meter streamer chamber. The reaction is analysed in terms of the longitudinal phase space (LPS) method. The one-pion-exchange model for Δ(1236) production and decay is examined. For the diffractive part of the LPS a dual model with pomeron exchange is investigated. In particular, the s -channel helicity conservation dual model of Dewey and Humpert describes the data well.

The observation of 70 000 K 0 p π + events produced with K + incident momenta of 1.21, 1.29, 1.38 and 1.69 GeV/ c allows a detailed description of the production and decay of the Δ(1236) and K ∗ (892) resonances which dominate the K 0 p π + final state. No striking variations with energy are observed. The associated production of Δ and K ∗ near threshold shows striking similarities with the same production at higher energy.

From a bubble chamber exposure in an antiproton beam at 5.7 GeV/ c yielding 13 events/μb, the final states p ̄ p → Y 1 ∗+ (1385)Λ, Y 1 ∗+ (1385)Σ + , Y 1 ∗+ (1385) Y 1 ∗+ (1385) have been isolated. We have measured the total cross section, d σ /d t , and the complete density matrix of the Y ∗ for these processes. Upper limits have been set to the forbidden reactions p ̄ p → Y 1 ∗− (1385)Σ − , Y 1 ∗− (1385) Y 1 ∗− (1385) .
