Differential cross sections for the process pi +d to pp at seven energies in the region Tpi =280-450 MeV and in the angular range theta * approximately=4-90 degrees have been measured on the LNPI synchrocyclotron. The results include 94 new data points. The measurements have been carried out using a ten-channel hodoscope set-up. Statistical errors are between 2.5% and 7.8% depending on the scattering angle and Tpi . The data obtained indicate that there is an essential contribution from the partial wave with orbital angular momentum l=3 over the whole energy range considered. The authors also observe a noticeable contribution from the l=4 partial wave to the differential cross sections of the pi +d to pp reaction from Tpi >or=357 MeV. The total cross sections for the process pi +d to pp are also presented.

Search for shock waves in central interactions of carbon nuclei with copper and lead nuclei at 4.5 GeV/c per nucleon

Experimental data on angular distributions of secondaries in central interactions of carbon nuclei (4.5 GeV/c per nucleon) with copper and lead nuclei are given. Experiment was carried out on incident beam of synchrophasotron. Secondary particles are detected with counters. Angle between the axis of these counters and beam directions varies from 15 to 90 degrees. Target was oriented relative to the beam so, that absorption of particles in it escaping at an angle of 60 degrees may be minimum. This position does not change during measurements. Target thicknesses are the following: copper - 0.92 mm, lead -1.0 mm. At the 3-5% accuracy of measurements within 15-90 deg angle range to the beam direction no anomaly in angular distribution has been discovered which could serve as an evidence of shock wave appearance

π−p→π0n differential cross-sections have been measured in the region of small 4-momentum transfer at 40 GeV/c incident momentum. The experiment performed at the IHEP 70 GeV accelerator makes use of a hodoscope γ-spectrometer. Thet- dependence of the cross-section points to a dominance of the spin-flip amplitude.
