The ALICE Collaboration has measured inclusive J/psi production in pp collisions at a center of mass energy sqrt(s)=2.76 TeV at the LHC. The results presented in this Letter refer to the rapidity ranges |y|<0.9 and 2.5<y<4 and have been obtained by measuring the electron and muon pair decay channels, respectively. The integrated luminosities for the two channels are L^e_int=1.1 nb^-1 and L^mu_int=19.9 nb^-1, and the corresponding signal statistics are N_J/psi^e+e-=59 +/- 14 and N_J/psi^mu+mu-=1364 +/- 53. We present dsigma_J/psi/dy for the two rapidity regions under study and, for the forward-y range, d^2sigma_J/psi/dydp_t in the transverse momentum domain 0<p_t<8 GeV/c. The results are compared with previously published results at sqrt(s)=7 TeV and with theoretical calculations.

The ALICE collaboration reports the measurement of the inclusive J/psi yield as a function of charged particle pseudorapidity density dN_{ch}/deta in pp collisions at sqrt{s} = 7 TeV at the LHC. J/psi particles are detected for p_t > 0, in the rapidity interval |y| < 0.9 via decay into e+e-, and in the interval 2.5 < y < 4.0 via decay into mu+mu- pairs. An approximately linear increase of the J/psi yields normalized to their event average (dN_{J/psi}/dy)/<dN_{J/psi}/dy> with (dN_{ch}/deta)/<dN_{ch}/deta> is observed in both rapidity ranges, where dN_{ch}/deta is measured within |eta| < 1 and p_t > 0. In the highest multiplicity interval with <dN_{ch}/deta(bin)> = 24.1, corresponding to four times the minimum bias multiplicity density, an enhancement relative to the minimum bias J/psi yield by a factor of about 5 at 2.5 < y < 4 (8 at |y| < 0.9) is observed.

The ALICE experiment at the LHC has studied inclusive J/$\psi$ production at central and forward rapidities in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV. In this Letter, we report on the first results obtained detecting the J/$\psi$ through its dilepton decay into $e^+e^-$ and $\mu^+\mu^-$ pairs in the rapidity range |y|<0.9 and 2.5<y<4, respectively, and with acceptance down to zero $p_{\rm T}$. In the dielectron channel the analysis was carried out on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity $L_{\rm int}$ = 5.6 nb$^{-1}$ and the number of signal events is $N_{J/\psi}=352 \pm 32$ (stat.) $\pm$ 28 (syst.); the corresponding figures in the dimuon channel are $L_{\rm int}$ = 15.6 nb$^{-1}$ and $N_{J/\psi} = 1924 \pm 77$ (stat.) $\pm$ 144(syst.). The measured production cross sections are $\sigma_{J/\psi}$ (|y|<0.9) = 12.4 $\pm$ 1.1 (stat.) $\pm$ 1.8 (syst.) + 1.8 -2.7 (syst.pol.) $\mu$b and $\sigma_{J/\psi}$ (2.5<y<4) = 6.31 $\pm$ 0.25 (stat.) $\pm$ 0.76 (syst.) +0.95 -1.96 (syst.pol.) $\mu$b. The differential cross sections, in transverse momentum and rapidity, of the J/$\psi$ were also measured.

The prompt and non-prompt production cross-sections for the chi_c1 and chi_c2 charmonium states are measured in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC using 4.5 fb^-1 of integrated luminosity. The chi_c states are reconstructed through the radiative decay chi_c -> J/psi gamma (with J/psi -> mu+mu-) where photons are reconstructed from gamma -> e+e- conversions. The production rate of the chi_c2 state relative to the chi_c1 state is measured for prompt and non-prompt chi_c as a function of J/psi transverse momentum. The prompt chi_c cross-sections are combined with existing measurements of prompt J/psi production to derive the fraction of prompt J/psi produced in feed-down from chi_c decays. The fractions of chi_c1 and chi_c2 produced in b-hadron decays are also measured.

Measurements of the differential production cross-sections of prompt and non-prompt $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2$S$)$ mesons with transverse momenta between 8 and 360 GeV and rapidity in the range $|y|<2$ are reported. Furthermore, measurements of the non-prompt fractions of $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2$S$)$, and the prompt and non-prompt $\psi(2$S$)$-to-$J/\psi$ production ratios, are presented. The analysis is performed using 140 fb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV $pp$ collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC during the years 2015-2018.

The production of J/psi and Upsilon mesons in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV is studied with the LHCb detector. The J/psi and Upsilon mesons are reconstructed in the mu+mu- decay mode and the signal yields are determined with a fit to the mu+mu- invariant mass distributions. The analysis is performed in the rapidity range 2.0<y<4.5 and transverse momentum range 0<p_T<14(15) GeV/c of the J/psi(Upsilon) mesons. The production of $J/\psi$ mesons in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$= 7 tev is studied with the LHCb detector at the LHC. The differential cross-section for prompt $J/\psi$ production is measured as a function of the $J/\psi$ transverse momentum p_{\rm T}\ and rapidity $y$ in the fiducial region $p_{\rm T}\in[0;14]$ GeV/c and $y\in[2.0;4.5]$. The differential cross-section and fraction of \j psi\ from $b$-hadron decays are also measured in the same p_{\rm T}\ and $y$ range s. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminos ity of 5.2 pb$^{-1}$. The measured cross-sections integrated over the fiducial region are $10.52\pm 0. 04\pm 1.40^{+1.64}_{-2.20}\mu b$ for $\mathrm{prompt}~J/\psi$ production and $1.14 \pm 0. 01\pm 0.16 \mu b$ for $J/\psi$ from $b$-hadron decays, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The $\mathrm{prompt}~J/\psi$ production cross-section is obtained assuming no $J/\psi$ polarisation and the third error indicates the acceptance uncertainty due to this assumption.

The prompt production of charmonium $\chi_{c}$ and $J/\psi$ states is studied in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. The $\chi_{c}$ and $J/\psi$ mesons are identified through their decays $\chi_{c}\rightarrow J/\psi \gamma$ and $J/\psi\rightarrow \mu^+\mu^-$ using 36 pb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the LHCb detector in 2010. The ratio of the prompt production cross-sections for $\chi_{c}$ and $J/\psi$, $\sigma (\chi_{c}\rightarrow J/\psi \gamma)/ \sigma (J/\psi)$, is determined as a function of the $J/\psi$ transverse momentum in the range $2 < p_{\mathrm T}^{J/\psi} < 15$ GeV/$c$. The results are in excellent agreement with next-to-leading order non-relativistic expectations and show a significant discrepancy compared with the colour singlet model prediction at leading order, especially in the low $p_{\mathrm T}^{J/\psi}$ region.
