Charged-Pion Photoproduction from Deuterium with Polarized Bremsstrahlung

Measurements have been made on the ratio of pion-production cross sections at right angles to and along the photon electric-field vector. The positive and negative pions were first momentum-analyzed and counted by means of a counter telescope. Data have been taken at 45, 90, and 135° in the c.m. system, and at proton energies of 225, 330, and 450 MeV. A comparison of the data is made with the dispersion-relation calculation of McKinley.

Production of the g(1640) Meson in pi p Interactions at 6 GeV/c

We present the results of a spin determination of the g 1 − (1640) meson from an analysis of its dipion decay mode (π − π 0 ), and find that spin three (or maybe greater) is favored [1,2]. We also report on the observation of an isospin one KK̄ enhancement at 1640 MeV which is consistent with a new decay mode of the g meson. A relative branching ratio of (K K ̄ /ππ) = 8 ± 3 8 % is obtain from our analysis.

Photoproduction of neutral rho mesons from complex nuclei

We present results of measurements on photoproduction of ρ mesons. Analysis of 106 measured ρ events in a four-dimensional data matrix dσ(A, m, p, t⊥)dΩdm with dimensions 14×20×10×20 yields precise information on nuclear density distributions for ρ production. We obtain for the Woods-Saxon radii R(A)=(1.12±0.02)A13 and, using the vector dominance model, σρN=26.7±2.0 mb and γρ24π=0.57±0.10.

We present a study of A − 2 →K O S K − from the reaction π − p→K O S K − p at 4.5 GeV/ c in the 82-in. hydrogen bubble chamber. From a sample of 542 events from this final state, the mass (and its possible fine structure), width, production distribution and decay correlations of A − 2 are examined.

Resonance production in k- neutron interactions at k- momenta of 1.45 and 1.65 gev/c

Results are reported on K − -neutron interactions at c.m. energies near 2 GeV. The interactions are dominated by strong production of hyperon resonances, particularly Σ(1385), Λ(1405) and Λ(1520). Production cross sections and angular distributions are given for the Σ(1385), Λ(1405) and Λ(1520) and branching fractions to decay modes observed in the experiment are given for Σ(1385) and Λ(1520). The strong energy dependence of some features of the data suggests that s -channel effects are dominant.

A study of k pi pi states produced in 10 gev/c k+ p interactions

We present an analysis of the K ππ system produced in 10 GeV/ c K + p interactions. We show that the low-mass enchancement between 1.2 and 1.4 GeV/ c 2 on the K ππ mass spectrum is predominantly 1 + throughout, give the relative amplitudes for the decay of this system into K ∗ (890) π and K ρ , and offer new evidence for the presence of two 1 + resonances in this mass region.

Determination of the photoproduction phase of rho0 mesons

We have measured large-angle electron-positron pairs from the reaction γ +Be → Be+e + +e − in the e + e − invariant-mass region of 610 < m < 850 MeV/ c 2 . The phase of the photoproduction amplitude of the ϱ-meson at 4.1 – 6.1 GeV was found to deviate from pure imaginary by 11.8° ± 4.4° which corresponds to a ratio of the real to imaginary ϱ-nucleon amplitude of β = −0.2 ± 0.1.
