The experimental results are presented for ratios of ν-meson inclusive differential cross sections in 10.5 GeV/ c π + p, π + D and π + A collisions, R D/p =(d σ /d x F )( π + D → η X)/ (d σ /d x F ) π + p→ η X), R A =(d σ /d x F )( π + D→ η X) in the beam fragmentation region. The results are based on the statistics of ≈ 5 × 10 4 detected η → 2 γ decays. It is shown that the power α in the parametrisation R A ≈ A α ( xf ) does not change significantly with x F and its mean value is 0.50±0.02. The lower limit is obtained for the effective coefficient with string tension in the colour string model, κ ⩾ 3 GeV/fm. The observed growth of R A with x F can be explained by an assumption of a neutron halo with the factor H ≈ 4 in the nuclei.

The first measurements from proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. Data were collected in December 2009 using a minimum-bias trigger during collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 900 GeV. The charged-particle multiplicity, its dependence on transverse momentum and pseudorapidity, and the relationship between mean transverse momentum and charged-particle multiplicity are measured for events with at least one charged particle in the kinematic range |eta|<2.5 and pT>500 MeV. The measurements are compared to Monte Carlo models of proton-proton collisions and to results from other experiments at the same centre-of-mass energy. The charged-particle multiplicity per event and unit of pseudorapidity at eta = 0 is measured to be 1.333 +/- 0.003 (stat.) +/- 0.040 (syst.), which is 5-15% higher than the Monte Carlo models predict.

Measurements are presented from proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of sqrt(s) = 0.9, 2.36 and 7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Events were collected using a single-arm minimum-bias trigger. The charged-particle multiplicity, its dependence on transverse momentum and pseudorapidity and the relationship between the mean transverse momentum and charged-particle multiplicity are measured. Measurements in different regions of phase-space are shown, providing diffraction-reduced measurements as well as more inclusive ones. The observed distributions are corrected to well-defined phase-space regions, using model-independent corrections. The results are compared to each other and to various Monte Carlo models, including a new AMBT1 PYTHIA 6 tune. In all the kinematic regions considered, the particle multiplicities are higher than predicted by the Monte Carlo models. The central charged-particle multiplicity per event and unit of pseudorapidity, for tracks with pT >100 MeV, is measured to be 3.483 +- 0.009 (stat) +- 0.106 (syst) at sqrt(s) = 0.9 TeV and 5.630 +- 0.003 (stat) +- 0.169 (syst) at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV.

Using 3.07 ${pb}^{-1}$ of data collected in the energy range 0.60-0.97 GeV by CMD-2, about 150 events of the process $\epm \to \pch$ have been selected. The energy dependence of the cross section agrees with the assumption of the $a_1(1260) \pi$ intermediate state which is dominant above 1 GeV. For the first time \fourpi events are observed at the $\rho$ meson energy. Under the assumption that all these events come from the $\rho$ meson decay, the value of the cross section at the $\rho$ meson peak corresponds to the following decay width: \Gamma(\rho^0 \to \fourpi) = (2.8 \pm 1.4 \pm 0.5) {keV} or to the branching ratio B(\rho^0 \to \fourpi) = (1.8 \pm 0.9 \pm 0.3) \cdot 10 ^{-5}.

Protons have been detected in the angular range 150°–165° and kinetic energy region 0.1–0.3 GeV. The invariant cross-section ratios for various beam particles are independent of the values of kinetic energy and of the nuclear target type: 〈ƒ K − /ƒ π − 〉= 0.87 ± 0.03 stat ± 0.03 syst , 〈ƒ p /ƒ π − 〉 = 1.82 ± 0.10 stat ± 0.05 syst . The A -dependence of the cross-section slope parameter for A ⩾27 is less than ∼2%.

The differential cross sections d σ /d t in| t min |<| t |<0.8 (GeV/ c ) 2 momentum transfer range are measured. The ∑ + polarisation for | t |<0.5 (GeV/ c ) 2 for reaction (1) is defined. The total cross sections in the studied momentum transfer range are 20.2±2.4 μ b and 7.3±1.1 μ b for the reactions (1) and (2) respectively. The ω-meson branching ratio into π + π − pair, electromagnetic radius of the pion, ππ scattering length in the P-wave and the strong interaction contribution to the muon ( g − 2) value were found to be B ωππ = (2.3 ± 0.4)%, 〈 r π 2 〉 = 0.422 ± 0.013 fm 2 , a 1 1 = 0.033 ± 0.033m π −3 , a H = (68.4 ± 1.1) × 10 −9 .

Results of the study of the e+e-->pi0 gamma process with SND detector at VEPP-2M collider in the c.m.s. energy range sqrt(s)=0.60-0.97 GeV are presented. Using 36513 selected events corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 3.4 pb^-1 the e+e-->pi0 gamma cross section was measured. The energy dependence of the cross section was analyzed in the framework of the vector meson dominance model. The paper describes experiments with the SND detector at VEPP-2M collider, carried out during the period from October 1995 until June 1997. The total integrated luminosity of 6.4 pb^{-1} was collected in the energy range 2E=0.4-1.4 GeV (MHAD97 experiment), corresponding to 4*10^5 mu^+ mu^- pairs produced. Preliminary results of the 1996 phi-meson experiment (FI96) are presented. The total number of phi-mesons produced is 4*10^6. New data on rare decays of phi and eta (550) mesons, in particular B(phi -> eta gamma) = (1.30+-0.06+-0.07)%, B(phi -> pi^0 pi^0 gamma) = (1.1+-0.2)*10^{-4}, (M_{pi^0 pi^0} > 800 MeV), B(phi -> f^0 gamma) = (4.7+-1.0)*10^{-4}, B(phi -> eta pi^0 gamma) = (1.3+-0.5)*10^{-4}, B(phi -> eta' gamma) < 1.7*10^{-4}, B(phi -> 2 pi^0 ) < 6*10^{-4} were obtained.

The cross sections for π ± , K ± , p, and p production in pp collisions have been measured at transverse momenta from 0.48 up to 2.21 GeV/ c at 70 GeV. The data are compared with results obtained at lower and higher proton energies and also with the quantum chromodynamics parton model (QPM) calculations. Common behaviour of the cross sections of the form g(p ⊥ )⨍(x ⊥ ) in the energy range above 200 GeV does not take place at lower energies. Qualitatively QPM fits the data and the best agreement is for π + / π − and K + / π + ratios.
