At a square of the momentum transfer of 1.0 (GeV/c)2 the elastic scattering of electrons on deuterons has been measured at electron scattering angles of 8°, 60°, and 82°. From these data we have extracted a value of B(q2)=(0.59±1.20)×10−5 for the deuteron. This measurements extends the range in momentum transfer by almost a factor of 2 over the previous measurements.

We report the results of a pion-electron scattering experiment to measure the charge radius of the pion. The experiment was performed in a 50 GeV/ c negative, unseparated beam at the IHEP accelerator, Serpukhov, and has been briefly reported in an earlier publication [1]. A magnetic spectrometer instrumented with wire spark chambers was used to record the incident pion trajectory and the angles and momenta of the scattered particles. Events are reconstructed by detailed trackfinding programs, and a set of kinematic and geometric cuts define the elastic sample. Electrons are identified both by kinematic criteria and pulse height information from total absorption lead glass Čerenkov counters. The final elastic sample consisted of 40 000 πe events in the region of four-momentum transfer squared 0.013 (GeV/ c ) 2 ⩽ q 2 ⩽ 0.036 (GeV/ c ) 2 . A full error matrix fit to the form factors of the pion gave the r.m.s. charge radius of the pion: 〈r π 2 〉 1 2 = (0.78 −0.10 +0.09 ) fm .

Inclusive and semi-inclusive distributions of γ's and π 0 's in the reactions K + p → γ + X and K + p → π 0 + X at 32 GeV/ c are presented and discussed. When compared to the inclusive π − production, the π 0 cross section is found to be significantly higher in low | x | and p T regions. The data are compared with other experiments and quark fusion model predictions.

ESTIMATED FROM GAMMA AND 2GAMMA SPECTRA.
We present measurements from a counter-optical spark chamber experiment of the differential cross sections for p̄p → π 0 π 0 , π 0 η 0 at 25 momenta in the range 1.1 − 2.0 GeV/ c (c.m. energy 2.12 to 2.43 GeV). Approximately 750 000 pictures were taken in the experiment.
THE ANGULAR DISTRIBUTIONS IN THE PUBLISHED FIGURES ARE NOT TABULATED HERE SINCE THEY ARE ONLY RECONSTRUCTED FROM THE LEGENDRE EXPANSION COEFFICIENTS WHICH WERE MEASURED DIRECTLY FROM THE DATA.

The elastic electron-neutron cross section has been measured at four-momentum transfers squared (Q2) of 2.5, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0, and 10.0 (GeV/c)2 with use of a deuterium target and detection of the scattered electrons at 10°. The ratio of neutron to proton elastic cross sections decreases with Q2. At high Q2 this trend is inconsistent with the dipole law, form-factor scaling, and many vector dominance models, although it is consistent with some parton models.

The deep-inelastic electron-scattering cross sections per nucleon σA for D, He, Be, C, A1, Ca, Fe, Ag, and Au were measured in the kinematic range 0.09<~x<~0.9 and 2<~Q2<~15 (GeV/c)2 with use of electrons with energies ranging from 8 to 24.5 GeV. The ratio σAσD is consistent with unity in the range 0.1<x<0.3. For 0.3<x<0.8, the ratio decreases logarithmically with atomic weight A, or linearly with average nuclear density. No Q2 dependence in the ratio was observed over the kinematic range of the data.
