Measurement of the cross-sections for reaction pi- p ---> x0 n in the momentum range up to 50 gev/c

The cross sections for the reaction π − p → X o n, X o → 2 λ are measured at 32.5 and 48 GeV c momenta. The cross spectrometer of γ -quanta is used to select events of reaction, whose cross section is only about 0.05 μbarn. The cross section energy dependence has the power form ( ≈ p −1.11±0.12 . conclusion on U(6) symmetry of quark model is made when comparing the differential cross sections at zero angle for the reactions π − p → X o and π − p → η o . The angle of octet-singlet mixing for pseudo-scalar mesons β = −(20.6 ± 2.2)° is defined.

Observation of multihadronic events in e+ e- collisions at the energy of 1.18-1.34 gev

Using the electron-positron storage ring VEPP-2 multipionic events have been observed at a total energy of 1.18–1.34 GeV. The experimental cross-section appears to be considerably larger than calculated within the framework of the vector dominance model for the processes e + e − → ϱπ , ϱϵ , ωπ , A 1 π . The data on the total cross-section obtained in the framework of the statistical model with 4 pions are presented.

Results are presented on the reaction K − p → K̄ o n for momenta above 20 GeV/ c . Events were identified by precise measurement of the opening angle in the decay K o → π + π − without using a magnetic field. The cross-section is described by a power energy dependence.

Using the electron-position storage ring VEPP-2 an experiment has been performed in which the cross-sections of the reactions e + e − → π + π − and e + e − →K + K − were measured in the energy regi on 1.18–1.34 GeV. The experimental values of the formfactors lie higher than curves extrapolated from the ϱ- and ϕ-meson region.
