The differential cross section for π − p → π 0 n has been measured in the t range 1.8 ⩽ | t | ⩽ 8.2 (GeV/ c ) 2 by a counter-spark chamber experiment detecting the neutron and both π 0 decay photons. A broad minimum was found, centered at | t | = 5.2 (GeV/ c ) 2 .

Differential cross sections for dp elastic scattering from 60° to 175° center of momentum (c.m.) were measured at 3.43, 4.50, 5.75, and 6.60 GeVc incident deuteron momentum. The measurements were made with a two-arm magnetic spectrometer, making use of multiwire proportional chamber detectors. The deuterons were accelerated at the Bevatron of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. Data are compared with predictions of the baryon-pickup model and the one-pion-exchange model. The backward dip at 180° c.m. for 4.5 GeVc, predicted by Craigie and Wilkin using the one-pion-exchange model, is not observed, but reasonable fits to the momentum variation and angular distributions are found. When the data are plotted against the variable Δ of the baryon-pickup model, the s dependence is greatly reduced.

We have made a measurement of the lepton charge asymmetry in KL0 decays. Magnetic analyses of the decay products in a spectrometer using multiwire proportional counters allowed kinematic reconstruction of the event where the particles traversed only 293 mg of matter. The leptons were differentiated from the pions only through their different transverse-momentum distributions. The asymmetry was measured to be (3.33 ± 0.50) × 10−3, in accord with the superweak description of CP nonconservation.
The asymmetry is defined as follows: ASYM = Cik/Bik, where Cik and Bik are the related to intensity of the events and depend on the particular set of transverse momenta of the leptons and pions (see text for details).
In exposures of the Argonne National Laboratory 12-ft bubble chamber filled with hydrogen and deuterium to a neutrino beam, we have observed events consisting of (1) a single π+ meson originating in the liquid, and (2) a proton with an e+e− pair pointing to it. Only a small fraction of these events can be ascribed to known reactions such as np→nnπ+ and np→npπ0. The remaining events, which correspond to a signal of about 4.5 standard deviations, we ascribe to the reactions νp→νnπ+ and νpπ0.

Studies have been made of the reactions π + p→p π + π + π − and π − p→p π + π − π − , both at an incident pion momentum of 18.5 GeV/ c . The two-body (primarily Δ ++ and ϱ o and three-body (low-mass A enhancement, A 3 , N ∗ (1400), and N ∗ (1700)) subsystems are discussed. Cross sections for all significant channels of the reactions are given.

Differential cross sections for elastic scattering of negative kaons on protons are presented for 13 incident laboratory momenta between 1094 MeV/c and 1377 MeV/c. The data show the characteristic forward diffraction-like peak and backward dip and are adequately described in shape by certain published partial-wave analyses of the N system.

Evidence is presented for a new meson resonance at 2340±20 MeV, with a width of 180±60 MeV, decaying primarily into ρρπ. The resonance, which is observed in 15-GeV/c π+p interactions, has isotopic spin 1 or 2 and odd G parity. The cross section for production of the ρρπ state is 7.3±1.7 μb. Branching ratios into ρρπ and other decay modes are given.
