Differential cross sections and polarizations are presented for the reactions K − p → Λπ 0 , Λη , Λη ′ at 8.25 GeV/ c incident K − momentum. The data, which come from a high statistics experiment in the CERN 2 m bubble chamber, are compared with previous experimental results on the same reactions and with current theoretical ideas.

The differential cross section and analyzing power of the reaction pp → d π + were measured for nine incident proton energies between 725 and 1000 MeV. A magnetic spectrometer was used to detect either deuterons or pions. Cross-section and analyzing-power angular distributions were respectively fitted with Legendre polynomial and associated Legendre function expansions, the coefficients of which were found to vary smoothly with energy in the vicinity of the alleged 3 F 3 dibaryon resonance.

A Study of Inclusive $\Lambda$, $\Sigma^0$ and $\Sigma(1385)$ Production in $K^- p$ Interactions at 8.25-{GeV}/$c$

The Birmingham-CERN-Glasgow-Michigan State-Paris collaboration Baubillier, M ; Bloodworth, I.J ; Bossen, G.J ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 148 (1979) 18-40, 1979.
Inspire Record 132295 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.8128

Inclusive Λ production has been studied in K − p interactions at 8.25 GeV/ c using about 69 000 events; the total cross section is found to be 3.35 ± 0.20 mb. A comparison has been made with Σ 0 and Σ(1385) inclusive production. Their influence on the inclusive Λ production is discussed. The inclusive Λ cross section and polarization is interpreted in terms of the triple-Regge model. In the target fragmentation region an effective Regge trajectory is determined which lies closer to the K than to the K ∗ . In the beam fragmentation region the cross-section data indicate an effective Regge trajectory which corresponds to the nucleon, while the polarization data require additional Regge exchanges to be present.

Measurement of T(20)(90) in the H-1 (d,gamma) He-3 reaction below deuteron breakup threshold

The tensor analyzing powers of the H1(d→,γ)3He reaction are sensitive to the tensor component of the nucleon-nucleon force, which mixes the L=2 D state into the He3 ground state wave function. Modern Faddeev calculations of this reaction allow a quantitative comparison to the parametrization of the tensor force in the trinucleon system. The T20 analyzing power was measured at an incident beam energy of 5.25 MeV and a laboratory angle of 90° (θc.m.=92.9°), where the comparison to theory is especially rigorous. The measured value of T20(90lab°) is -0.035±0.004, which differs by ≊3σ from a recent Faddeev calculation which uses the separable expansion of the Paris potential. © 1996 The American Physical Society.

Analyzing powers for πp elastic scattering were measured using the CHAOS spectrometer at energies spanning the Δ(1232) resonance. This work presents π+ data at the pion kinetic energies 117, 130, 139, 155, 169, 180, 193, 218, 241, and 267 MeV and π− data at 87, 117, 193, and 241 MeV, covering an angular range of 50°<~θc.m.<~180° at the higher energies and 90°<~θc.m.<~180° at the lower energies. Unique features of the spectrometer acceptance were employed to reduce systematic errors. Single-energy phase shift analyses indicate the resulting S11 and S31 phases favor the results of the SM95 phase shift analysis over that of the older KH80 analysis.

Analyzing Powers in $\pi^\pm P$ (Polarized) Elastic Scattering From $T (\pi$) = 98-{MeV} to 263-{MeV}

Angular distributions of the analyzing powers for π+p→ and π−p→ elastic scattering have been measured in a single-scattering experiment employing a polarized proton target. Measurements were obtained for pion energies of 98, 139, 166, 215, and 263 MeV. The addition of these data to the existing πp database significantly reduces the uncertainties in all S and P phase shifts for πp reactions over the delta resonance.

Positive Pion Production by Polarized X Rays between 227 and 373 MeV

Phys.Rev. 130 (1963) 2429-2440, 1963.
Inspire Record 46842 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.26742

Measurements have been made of the ratio of the π+ photoproduction cross sections at right angles to and along the electric field vector. Data have been taken at 45°, 90°, and 135° at energies of 227, 240, 342, and 373 MeV. A comparison of the data with the predictions of a phenomenological analysis using only S and P waves shows less than 0.1% chance of obtaining such results without the inclusion of higher angular momenta, and hence, demonstrates even more convincingly the need for a meson current term which has been indicated by other measurements. A comparison is made with the relativistic dispersion relations of McKinley which include an approximation for the γ, ρ, π coupling. At the resonance energy our polarization asymmetry is insensitive to this coupling and is in good agreement with the McKinley prediction. At lower energy the agreement is not as good but our data seem to substantiate the need for a negative γ, ρ, π coupling constant.

We have mesured the polarization of 375-GeV/c Σ+ and Σ¯ − hyperons produced by 800-GeV/c protons incident on a Cu target. We find that the Σ+ polarization rises with increasing pt to a maximum of 16% at pt=1.0 GeV/c and then decreases to 10% at pt=1.8 GeV/c. We compare this Σ+ polarization with data at lower energies. The Σ¯ − polarization has been measured for the first time. It has the same sign as the Σ+ but smaller magnitude in a similar kinematical region.

An experiment has been carried out to determine the imaginary part of the two-photon exchange amplitude by measuring the polarisation of the recoil proton in elastic electron-proton scattering. The polirisation was found to be −0.006 ± 0.030 at q 2 = 1.3 (GeV/ c ) 2 , +0.052 ± 0.55 at 1.5 (GeV/ c ) 2 and +0.065 ± 0.087 at 1.9 (GeV/ c ) 2 .

P(t) and X(F) dependence of the polarization of Sigma+ hyperons produced by 800-GeV/c protons

We utilize the angle and momentum resolution of our apparatus to study the polarization of 375 GeV/c Σ+ hyperons produced by 800 GeV/c protons incident on a Cu target. By examining in detail two of our high statistics data samples, we find evidence for structure in the pt dependence of Σ+ polarization and are able to extract the xF dependence of the Σ+ polarization and compare it with xF behavior in the Λ0 and Ξ− systems.
