The inclusive polarized structure functions of the proton and deuteron, g1p and g1d, were measured with high statistical precision using polarized 6 GeV electrons incident on a polarized ammonia target in Hall B at Jefferson Laboratory. Electrons scattered at lab angles between 18 and 45 degrees were detected using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS). For the usual DIS kinematics, Q^2>1 GeV^2 and the final-state invariant mass W>2 GeV, the ratio of polarized to unpolarized structure functions g1/F1 is found to be nearly independent of Q^2 at fixed x. Significant resonant structure is apparent at values of W up to 2.3 GeV. In the framework of perturbative QCD, the high-W results can be used to better constrain the polarization of quarks and gluons in the nucleon, as well as high-twist contributions.

Search for Charmed Particle Production in 15-GeV/c pi+ p Interactions

Baltay, C. ; Cautis, C.V. ; Cohen, Daniel H. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 34 (1975) 1118, 1975.
Inspire Record 2041 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21924

A search for the production of charmed particles in 15-BeV/c π+p interactions has been carried out. The search was sensitive to charmed particles in the 1.5 to 4.0 BeV mass range, with lifetimes ≲10−11 sec, decaying into a strange particle with up to eight additional pions. No evidence for the production of such particles was found.

Phys.Lett.B 140 (1984) 145-148, 1984.
Inspire Record 206508 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30553

Using a double arm electromagnetic calorimeter we have searched for narrow states produced in the exclusive reaction π − p→γγn at 13 GeV/c. No enhancements were observed in the mass range 2.0–4.0 GeV/c 2 . For example, the 90% confidence limit on η c production is σ ( π − p→ η c n)× B ( η c → γγ ) < 44 pb.

Inspire Record 1364 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32176

Studies have been made of the reactions π + p→p π + π + π − and π − p→p π + π − π − , both at an incident pion momentum of 18.5 GeV/ c . The two-body (primarily Δ ++ and ϱ o and three-body (low-mass A enhancement, A 3 , N ∗ (1400), and N ∗ (1700)) subsystems are discussed. Cross sections for all significant channels of the reactions are given.

Evidence for a New Meson Resonance at 2340-MeV

Baltay, C. ; Cautis, C.V. ; Cohen, Daniel H. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 35 (1975) 891-901, 1975.
Inspire Record 103634 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21130

Evidence is presented for a new meson resonance at 2340±20 MeV, with a width of 180±60 MeV, decaying primarily into ρρπ. The resonance, which is observed in 15-GeV/c π+p interactions, has isotopic spin 1 or 2 and odd G parity. The cross section for production of the ρρπ state is 7.3±1.7 μb. Branching ratios into ρρπ and other decay modes are given.

SEARCH FOR EXCLUSIVE J / psi PRODUCTION

Phys.Rev.D 34 (1986) 1619, 1986.
Inspire Record 228262 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23503

We have searched for exclusive hadronic J/ψ production by looking for narrow resonances in the e+e− mass spectrum of the reaction π−p→e+e−n. No events were observed in the region around 3.1 GeV/c2. The cross section for the reaction π−p→J/ψ n at 13 GeV/c is no more than 103 pb at the 90% confidence level.

INCLUSIVE PHOTOPRODUCTION OF pi0 AND eta0 MESONS FOR PHOTONS IN THE 100-GeV ENERGY RANGE

Phys.Rev.Lett. 51 (1983) 1617, 1983.
Inspire Record 13620 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20521

Inclusive distributions are presented for final-state π0 and η0 mesons produced in γp interactions. For photon energies from 50 to 130 GeV, both cross sections scale for fractional momenta xF>~0.30. The average transverse momentum for both mesons is approximately constant with energy and equal to 0.51±0.05 GeV/c at large xF. The η0π0 ratio similarly rises from 0.07±0.03 at xF=0.38 to 0.30±0.09 at xF=0.90. The π0 distributions are in good agreement with those seen in the scattering of highly virtual incident photons.

Phys.Rev.Lett. 70 (1993) 134-137, 1993.
Inspire Record 354524 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19779

A high-statistics study by the Columbia-Chicago-Fermilab-Rochester Collaboration of opposite-sign dimuon events induced by neutrino-nucleon scattering at the Fermilab Tevatron is presented. A sample of 5044 νμ and 1062 ν¯μ induced μ∓μ± events with Pμ1≥9 GeV/c, Pμ2≥5 GeV/c, 30≤Eν≤600 GeV, and 〈Q2〉=22.2 GeV2/c2 is observed. The data support the slow-rescaling model of charm production with a value of mc=1.31±0.24 GeV2/c2. The first measurement of the Q2 dependence of the nucleon strange quark distribution xs(x) is presented. The data yield the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element ‖Vcd‖=0.209±0.012 and the nucleon fractional strangeness content ηs=0.064−0.007+0.008.
