Inclusive upsilon and pi0 production in pbar p interactions at 32 GeV/c

The inclusive π0 and γ production is studied in a$\bar PP$ experiment at 32.1 GeV/c performed in the Mirabelle bubble chamber with a sensitivity of ∼2.7 events/μb. Total and topological π0 cross sections are presented. The π0 and γ longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions are obtained and compared with$\bar PP$ data at 22.4 GeV/c andK ± P data at 32.1 GeV/c. The inclusive π0 distributions are also compared to those obtained for charged pions in the same experiment.

Measurement of the $Q~{2}$ dependence of the Charged and Neutral Current Cross Sections in $e~{\pm}p$ Scattering at HERA

The $Q~{2}$ dependence and the total cross sections for charged and neutral current processes are measured in $e~{\pm}p$ reactions for transverse momenta of the outgoing lepton larger than 25 GeV. Comparable size of cross sections for the neutral current process and for the weak charged current process are observed above $Q~2\approx5000$GeV$~2$. Using the shape and magnitude of the charged current cross section we determine a propagator mass of $m_{W} = 84\ ~{+10}_{-7}$ GeV.

Observation of significant spin effects in hard collisions at 40-GeV/c

A single-spin asymmetry in the inclusive π 0 production at small x F was measured. In the experiment 40 GeV/c π − mesons were incident on transversely polarized protons and deutrons. An asymmetry of (40–50)% has been revealed in the hard scattering region.

Search for Narrow Baryonia With Negative and Positive Strangeness

A search for baryonia with negative and positive strangeness decaying respectively into$\Lambda+ \bar p + pions$ and$\bar \Lambda+ p + pions$ has been carried out in a neutron beam with a mean momentum of ≅40 GeV/c in an experiment performed at the Serpukhov accelerator. There is a strong indication of the existence of these baryonia. The following four charge states are observed for negative and positive strangeness: neutral, negative, positive and doubly charged. Their mean mass is 3055±25 MeV/c2 and the width Γ≦36±15 MeV/c2. The data show that the isotopic spin of the baryonia is ≧3/2. The baryonia production cross sections in the acceptable kinematic regionXF≧0.2 andPT≦1 GeV/c times the branching ratios of the observed decays are of the order of 1 μb per nucleon.
