We report evidence for the production of the charged D ∗ mesons in pp̄ collisions at s = 540 GeV . The search was confined to the charged particle fragments of hadronic jets, which are expected to be predominantly gluon jets in this experiment. The fragmentation function and production rate for D ∗ in jets of average transverse momentum of 28 GeV/ c are given.
THE D*'S ARE CONSIDERED AS ARISING ONLY FROM FRAGMENTATION OF HADRONIC JETS ('GLUON' JETS). HERE THE <PT> OF THE JET IS AROUND 28 GEV THE DEFINITION OF Z IS P(D*).P(JET)/(P(JET))**2.
The ATLAS Collaboration has measured the inclusive production of $Z$ bosons via their decays into electron and muon pairs in $p+$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=5.02$ TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. The measurements are made using data corresponding to integrated luminosities of 29.4 nb$^{-1}$ and 28.1 nb$^{-1}$ for $Z \rightarrow ee$ and $Z \rightarrow \mu\mu$, respectively. The results from the two channels are consistent and combined to obtain a cross section times the $Z \rightarrow \ell\ell$ branching ratio, integrated over the rapidity region $|y^{*}_{Z}|<3.5$, of 139.8 $\pm$ 4.8 (stat.) $\pm$ 6.2 (syst.) $\pm$ 3.8 (lumi.) nb. Differential cross sections are presented as functions of the $Z$ boson rapidity and transverse momentum, and compared with models based on parton distributions both with and without nuclear corrections. The centrality dependence of $Z$ boson production in $p+$Pb collisions is measured and analyzed within the framework of a standard Glauber model and the model's extension for fluctuations of the underlying nucleon-nucleon scattering cross section.
The centrality bias factors derived from data as explained in the text. Model calculations shown in the Figure are found in arXiv:1412.0976.
The differential $Z$ boson production cross section, $d\sigma/dy^\mathrm{*}_{Z}$, as a function of $Z$ boson rapidity in the center-of-mass frame $y^\mathrm{*}_{Z}$, for $Z\rightarrow ee$, $Z\rightarrow\mu\mu$, and their combination $Z\rightarrow\ell\ell$.
The differential cross section of $Z$ boson production multiplied by the Bjorken $x$ of the parton in the lead nucleus, $x_{Pb} d\sigma /dx_{Pb}$, as a function of $x_{Pb}$.
Measurements of $ZZ$ production in the $\ell^{+}\ell^{-}\ell^{\prime +}\ell^{\prime -}$ channel in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV center-of-mass energy at the Large Hadron Collider are presented. The data correspond to 36.1 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of collisions collected by the ATLAS experiment in 2015 and 2016. Here $\ell$ and $\ell'$ stand for electrons or muons. Integrated and differential $ZZ \to \ell^{+}\ell^{-}\ell^{\prime +}\ell^{\prime -}$ cross sections with $Z \to \ell^+\ell^-$ candidate masses in the range of 66 GeV to 116 GeV are measured in a fiducial phase space corresponding to the detector acceptance and corrected for detector effects. The differential cross sections are presented in bins of twenty observables, including several that describe the jet activity. The integrated cross section is also extrapolated to a total phase space and to all Standard-Model decays of $Z$ bosons with mass between 66 GeV and 116 GeV, resulting in a value of $17.3 \pm 0.9$ [$\pm 0.6$ (stat.) $\pm 0.5$ (syst.) $\pm 0.6$ (lumi.)] pb. The measurements are found to be in good agreement with the Standard-Model predictions. A search for neutral triple gauge couplings is performed using the transverse momentum distribution of the leading $Z$-boson candidate. No evidence for such couplings is found and exclusion limits are set on their parameters.

The production of Λ hyperons in e+e− annihilation has been measured as a function of their total momenta, transverse momenta, and the event thrust. The total production rate is 0.213±0.012±0.018 Λ or Λ¯ per hadronic event. The observation of correlations in rapidity and angles for events with two detected Λ decays supports fragmentation models with local baryon-number compensation.

We present results on Λc+ production in 29-GeV e+e− annihilation. The Λc+ are observed via their semileptonic decays to Λe+X and Λμ+X. With radiative corrections, we find σ(e+e−→Λc+X)〉BΛc+→eΛX)= 1.5±0.6±0.5 pb or 0.0038±0.0015±0.0012 Λc+→Λe+X decay per hadronic event, and σ(e+e−Λc+X)B(Λc+→μΛX)= 1.4±1.4±0.4 pb or 0.0035±0.0035±0.0011 Λc+→Λμ+X decay per hadronic event. These results can be used to place constraints on the predictions of various production models.

The polarizations of the Y(1S), Y(2S), and Y(3S) mesons are measured as a function of the charged particle multiplicity in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV. The measurements are performed with a dimuon data sample collected in 2011 by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.9 inverse femtobarns. The results are extracted from the dimuon decay angular distributions, in two ranges of Y(nS) transverse momentum (10-15 and 15-35 GeV), and in the rapidity interval abs(y) < 1.2. The results do not show significant changes from low- to high-multiplicity pp collisions, although large uncertainties preclude definite statements in the Y(2S) and Y(3S) cases.

η production has been investigated by the Mark II collaboration at the SLAC e+e− storage ring PEP. η particles are reconstructed by their γγ decay mode. The η fragmentation function has been measured and found to be in good agreement with the Lund-model prediction. η′ production has been measured for the first time in high-energy e+e− annihilation. There is evidence at the 3σ level for Ds± decay into ηπ± and η′π±.

Inclusive and semi-inclusive cross sections for gp0 production in 100, 200, and 360 GeV/c π−p interactions are presented. Differential cross sections for ρ0 production as functions of c.m. rapidity and transverse momentum are compared with the corresponding differential cross sections for pion production. Effects of various methods of estimating background on the values obtained for ρ0 production cross sections are discussed. About 10% of the final-state charged pions appear to come from ρ0 decay. Thus, while ρ0 production and decay is a significant source of final-state pions, other sources must contribute the majority of the produced pions.

Inclusive ϱ 0 meson production has been measured in 120 GeV and 280 GeV muon-proton interactions. Distributions of z and p T 2 are presented. Primary ϱ 0 production is found to be equal to that of π 0 production within errors.

Inclusive distributions of ρ0 and ω mesons have been measured in deep inelastic μ-p interactions at 280 GeV/c. A comparison of the ρ0 cross sections with other leptoproduction experiments is presented. The ω results represent the first observation of this inclusive channel in high energy leptoproduction. The ρ0 and ω yields are found to be equal as may be expected from the available density of states in isospin space. This contrasts with spin angular momentum where the vector to pseudoscalar meson ratio is suppressed relative to the available number of spin states.
