The inclusive cross section and the average multiplicity are evaluated for most of the charged ( π ± , p, K ± ) and neutral (γ, π 0 , K 0 , K 0 , Λ, Λ , n ) particles produced in 32 GeV/ c K − p interactions; corresponding results are obtained for each charged topology separately. New results are given for the total charged multiplicity cross sections. The average longitudinal momentum of neutrals is found to be roughly equal to that of charged particles. The π + and π − multiplicity distributions are reconstructed and compared to the π 0 and to the total charged multiplicity distributions.

Inclusive and semi-inclusive distributions of γ's and π 0 's in the reactions K + p → γ + X and K + p → π 0 + X at 32 GeV/ c are presented and discussed. When compared to the inclusive π − production, the π 0 cross section is found to be significantly higher in low | x | and p T regions. The production of K s 0 , Λ and Λ is measured in π + p interactions at 32 GeV/ c . The total inclusive cross sections are found to be 2.07±0.14, 1.00±0.10 and 0.14±0.04 mb, respectively. The energy dependence of total inclusive cross sections and inclusive distributions is discussed and a comparison is made with p, p , K + and K − induced reactions. We find that the factorization hypothesis is satisfied for the inclusive reactions π + p→ Λ X and K + p→ Λ X. Multi-strange-particle production is similar in π + p and K + p interactions at 32 GeV/ c . There is evidence for beam fragmentation in Λ production. The hierarchy of Λ inclusive cross sections in p , K + , π + and K − induced reactions at 32 GeV/ c is qualitatively explained by a quark recombination model. The cross sections for inclusive K ∗ + (892) and Σ + (1385) production in 32 GeV/ c π + p interactions are 1.07±0.57 mb and 0.19±0.08 mb, respectively.

New results on the inclusive and semi-inclusive production of π + mesons and protons in the whole phase space are given for about 2.2 · 10 4 inelastic p p interactions at 22.4 GeV/ c . A method of statistical separation for spectra of particles of the same charge which are produced in CP -symmetrical reactions is discussed in detail. Experimental data are compared with quark-parton model predictions.

The inclusive production of Ξ + and Ξ − hyperons is investigated in K + p interactions at 32 GeV/ c . The production cross sections, 36.4±9 μ b for the Ξ + and 6.5±3 μ b for the Ξ − , are rising strongly with energy similarly to Λ and Λ production in K + p interactions. The Ξ + are produced preferentially in the forward direction in the c.m.s., while the Ξ − are produced dominantly backwards. The average transverse momenta 〈p T 〉 Ξ + =0.73±0.09 GeV /c and 〈 p T 〉 Ξ − =0.58±0.09 GeV/ c .

Total and semi-inclusive cross sections, longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions and spin density matrix elements of theK*+(892) andK*0(892) produced in the inclusive reactionsK+p→K*+(892)+X andK+p→K*0(892)+X at 32 GeV/c are studied in detail.
