The Michel parameters ϱ, η, ξ, and ξδ, the chirality parameter ξ h and the τ polarization P τ are measured using 32012 τ pair decays. Their values are extracted from the energy spectra of leptons and hadrons in τ − → l − ν l ν τ and τ − → π − ν τ decays, the energy and decay angular distributions in τ − → ϱ − ν τ decays, and the correlations in the energy spectra and angular distributions of the decay products. Assuming universality in leptonic and semileptonic τ decays, the results are ϱ = 0.794±0.039±0.031, η = 0.25±0.17±0.11, ξ = 0.94±0.21±0.07, ξδ = 0.81±0.14±0.06, ξ h = −0.970±0.053±0.011, and P τ = −0.154±0.018±0.012. The measurement is in agreement with the V-A hypothesis for the weak charged current.

A sample of Z0→τ+τ− events observed in the DELPHI detector at LEP in 1991 and 1992 is analysed to measure the τ polarisation in the exclusive decay channels\(ev\bar v\),\(\mu v\bar v\), πν, ρν and a1ν. The τ polarisation is also measured with an inclusive hadronic analysis which benefits from a higher efficiency and a better systematic precision than the use of the exclusive decay modes. The results have been combined with those published on the 1990 data. A measurement of the τ polarisation as a function of production angle yields the values for the mean τ polarisation 〈P〉τ=−0.148±0.022 and for the Z0 polarisationPZ=−0.136±0.027. These results are used to determine the ratio of vector to axial-vector effective couplings for taus\(\bar v_\tau/\bar a_\tau= 0.074 \pm 0.011\), and for electrons\(\bar v_e /\bar a_e= 0.068 \pm 0.014\), compatible with e-τ universality. With the assumption of lepton universality, the ratio of vector to axial-vector effective couplings for leptons\(\bar v_l /\bar a_l= 0.072 \pm 0.008\) is obtained, implying a value of the effective weak mixing angle sin2θefflept=0.2320±0.0021.
Results are for both TAU+ and TAU- decay.
The systematic error contains a systematic error of 0.003 common to all channels.

The tensor analyzing power T20 for the reaction d↑+12C→p(0°)+X has been measured in the region of proton internal momenta k in light-cone dynamics up to 1 GeV/ c. Measurements have been carried out at Dubna Synchrophasotron with polarized deuteron beam at deuteron momenta up to 9 GeV/ c. When k increases the experimental values of T20 have a tendency to approach the value ( −0.3) obtained by the calculation based on the reduced nuclear amplitude method in which the quark degrees of freedom are taken into account.

We have searched for signatures of polarization in hadronic jets from $Z~0 \rightarrow q \bar{q}$ decays using the ``jet handedness'' method. The polar angle asymmetry induced by the high SLC electron-beam polarization was used to separate quark jets from antiquark jets, expected to be left- and right-polarized, respectively. We find no evidence for jet handedness in our global sample or in a sample of light quark jets and we set upper limits at the 95\% C.L. of 0.063 and 0.099 respectively on the magnitude of the analyzing power of the method proposed by Efremov {\it et al.}
Polarized E- beam. Events were classified as being of light or heavy flavors based on impact parameters of charged tracks measured in the vertex detector. Jet handedness are measured for helicity-based and chirality-based analysis (seetext). C=95PCT CL indicates the upper limits at the 95 PCT C.L. on the magnitudes.
We utilize the angle and momentum resolution of our apparatus to study the polarization of 375 GeV/c Σ+ hyperons produced by 800 GeV/c protons incident on a Cu target. By examining in detail two of our high statistics data samples, we find evidence for structure in the pt dependence of Σ+ polarization and are able to extract the xF dependence of the Σ+ polarization and compare it with xF behavior in the Λ0 and Ξ− systems.

We have mesured the polarization of 375-GeV/c Σ+ and Σ¯ − hyperons produced by 800-GeV/c protons incident on a Cu target. We find that the Σ+ polarization rises with increasing pt to a maximum of 16% at pt=1.0 GeV/c and then decreases to 10% at pt=1.8 GeV/c. We compare this Σ+ polarization with data at lower energies. The Σ¯ − polarization has been measured for the first time. It has the same sign as the Σ+ but smaller magnitude in a similar kinematical region.

We present a total of 273 independent data points of the analyzing powers A oono (nP) and A ooon (nP) in a large angular interval at four energies between 0.477 and 0.940 GeV. The SATURNE II polarized beam of free neutrons obtained from the break-up of polarized deuterons was scattered on the polarized Saclay frozen-spin proton target. Part of the data was obtained with a CH 2 target. A comparison of the two measured observables allows one to determine the polarization of the neutron beam. The present results provide an important contribution to any future theoretical or phenomenological analysis.

Data from 97.7 to 123.4 degrees are combined beam and target analyzing powers.
We present the first polarization measurements for pion absorption on a nucleus heavier than the deuteron. The polarization of protons resulting from π+ absorption in the He3 was measured at bombarding energies of 120 and 250 MeV. Protons from absorption in a quasideuteron were selected by applying kinematical constraints. A significant discrepancy was observed between the experimental results and theoretical predictions. At 120 MeV the measured polarizations for He3 are consistent with those of the deuteron. At 250 MeV the angular distribution of the polarization is significantly different than for the deuteron, showing sensitivity to the nuclear density, and thus may be sensitive to short range correlations between nucleons.

The tensor analyzing power T 20 in inclusive deuteron breakup at 9 GeV/c and 0° on hydrogen and carbon targets up to internal momenta k of the proton in the deuteron of ∼ 1 GeV/c has been measured. The analyzing power remains negative up to the highest measured values of k , and is in definite disagreement with predictions from several theoretical models. A systematic difference between T 20 for deuteron breakup on hydrogen and carbon is observed.

The production of Λ,\(\bar \Lambda\) andKs0 has been studied in 200 GeV/nucleonp+S and S+S collisions in the streamer chamber of the NA35 experiment at the CERN SPS. Significant enhancement of the multiplicities of all observed strange particles relative to negative hadrons was observed in central S+S collisions, as compared top+p andp+S collisions. The latter collisions show no overall (relative) strangeness enhancement overp+p, but the rapidity distributions and hadron multiplicities indicate some secondary cascading production of Λ particles in thep+S andp+Au collisions. The Λ polarization in central S+S collisions was found to be compatible with zero up topT=2 GeV/c.
