Momentum spectra for forward Σ− and Ξ− production by protons on beryllium are presented. Σ− production data for two primary proton momenta are compared to test scaling of the invariant cross section. In addition, the observed single-particle momentum distributions are compared with single-particle spectra from other inclusive reactions initiated by protons.

We have searched the mass region 3.2 to 5.9 GeV for evidence of narrow resonances in e+e−→hadrons. We find no evidence for any such resonances other than the ψ(3695) in this region with a sensitivity ranging from about 12 to 45% of the integrated cross section of the ψ(3695). The more stringent bounds apply to resonances of a few MeV width, while the looser bounds apply to resonances of up to 20 MeV width.
EXTREAMLY GOOD DATA, MUST BE ASCED FROM AUTHORS.
The product of the photoproduction cross section at 11.1 GeV for ψ(3105) on nucleons times the branching ratio for ψ into e+e− is less than 75 pb, at the 90% confidence level. This result implies a ψ-nucleon total cross section of less than 1.2 mb.
The branching ratio for J/PSI --> E+ E- is taken as 0.06.
The pπ+π0 and pπ+π+π− final states from π+p interactions at 3.9 GeV/c have been analyzed by the prism-plot technique and the following three quasi-two-body channels have been studied in detail: π+p→ρ+p, π+p→π0Δ++, and π+p→ρ0Δ++. Results are presented on cross sections, differential cross sections, and single and joint spin density matrix elements. These are compared with the Dar-Watts-Weisskopf absorption model and Reggeized pion-exchange model predictions. Relations among joint spin density matrix elements for ρ0Δ++ are compared with quark-model predictions.

A very narrow resonance with a mass of 3.1 GeV/c2 is observed in the reaction n+Be→μ++μ−+X. The total cross section for this process, as well as its P⊥2 and x distribution, are given.
The cross section per nucleon times the branching ratio.
K − p reactions have been studied at 13 different incident momenta between 1138 and 1434 MeV/ c . This interval corresponds to a mass of the K − p system varying from 1858 to 1993 MeV. About 300 000 photographs were taken in the 81 cm Saclay hydrogen bubble chamber exposed to a separated K − beam at the CERN proton-synchrotron. A total of about 44 000 events were analyzed, from which partial and differential cross sections were determined. Polarizations were obtained for the two-body reactions where the decay of the Λ or Σ hyperon allowed their measurement. Data for the two-body channels are presented here as well as for the main quasi-two-body reactions.

We have studied inclusive Δ++(1236) production for |tpΔ|<1.0 (GeV/c)2 in a 50 000 picture exposure of the 30-inch hydrogen bubble chamber to a 205 GeV/c proton beam. The inclusive Δ++ cross section for one hemisphere in the center-of-mass system is (1.30±0.14) mb. The mean charged multiplicity of the system recoiling off the Δ++ is in agreement with that for laboratory π−p interactions at the same energy in the center-of-mass frame. The inclusive Δ++ production is compared to inclusive Λ0 and proton production in the same experiment. The connection between Δ++ production and diffraction is discussed. We find that not all Δ++ come from the decay of a diffractively-produced state. The PT2 distribution for the Δ++ has a slope of (10.5±0.9) (GeV/c)−2 for PT2≲0.2 (GeV/c)2. This slope, together with the decay angular distribution of the Δ++ at small momentum transfer, suggests a strong pion-exchange contribution to the inclusive process. We compare the data to the expectation of a triple-Regge model with ρ- and π-exchange contributions.

The reaction γ + p → Φ + p has been measured using a spark chamber spectrometer and a tagged photon beam in the energy range from 4.6 to 6.7 GeV. Approximately 3500 photoproduced elastic Φ-events have been collected in the t -range between t min and t = −0.4 (GeV/ c ) 2 . Cross sections and t -distributions are presented.
NO MARKED ENERGY DEPENDENCE.
The inclusive production of Σ + (1385), Σ − (1385), Λ (1405) and Λ (1523) in K − p interactions at 14.3 GeV/ c is studied. Cross sections are presented and the x dependence of the invariant cross sections is discussed. The density matrices for production of the spin- 3 2 resonances at small momentum transfer to the target are consistent with spin-0 exchange.
