Differential cross sections for electrons scattered inelastically from hydrogen have been measured at 18°, 26°, and 34°. The range of incident energy was 4.5 to 18 GeV, and the range of four-momentum transfer squared was 1.5 to 21 (GeVc)2. With the use of these data in conjunction with previously measured data at 6° and 10°, the contributions from the longitudinal and transverse components of the exchanged photon have been separately determined. The values of the ratio of the photoabsorption cross sections σSσT are found to lie in the range 0 to 0.5. The question of scaling of 2MpW1 and νW2 as a function of ω is discussed, and scaling is verified for a large kinematic range. Also, a new scaling variable which reduces to ω in the Bjorken limit is introduced which extends the scaling region. The behavior of σT and σS is also discussed as a function of ν and q2. Various weighted sum rules of νW2 are evaluated.

Electromagnetic form-factors of the proton at squared four momentum transfers between 10-fm**-2 and 50 fm**-2

Inspire Record 69362 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28478

Electron-proton elastic scattering cross sections have been measured to determine the proton electromagnetic form factors at squared four-momentum transfers q 2 between 10 and 50 fm −2 . At these values of q 2 we measured angular distributions between 25° and 110° and in addition at 25° and 35° cross sections for q 2 from 2 to 20 fm −2 using the external electron beam of the Bonn 2.5 GeV electron synchrotron. Our results confirm deviations from the scaling law.

Measurement of the double-charge-exchange reactions pi- p ---> k+ sigma- and k- p ---> pi+ sigma -

Akerlof, C.W. ; Caldwell, P.K. ; Coffin, C.T. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 27 (1971) 539-542, 1971.
Inspire Record 68930 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21463

The forward cross sections for the reactions π−p→K+Σ− and K−p→π+Σ− have been determined for incident particle momenta in the range of 2.75 to 3.50 GeV/c, and an upper limit was established at 5.00 GeV/c. These measurements show that the double-charge-exchange process π−p→K+Σ− is suppressed by a factor of 1500 at 3 GeV/c relative to the single-exchange reaction π+p→K+Σ+.

Pi+- p elastic scattering and pi+ p ---> k+ sigma+ at 5.0 gev/c near -t=3.0(gev/c)-squared

Inspire Record 68949 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21476

We have measured the reactions π±p→π±p and π+p→K+Σ+ at 5.0 GeV/c in the region 2.2<−t<3.5 (GeV/c)2. We find the minimum cross section of the dip at −t=2.8 (GeV/c)2 in π+p elastic scattering to be 0.16 ± 0.05 μb/GeV2. The π−p differential cross section exhibits similar structure, while the π+p→K+Σ+ channel shows a steady decline in cross section as |t| increases. The polarization of the Σ+ remains large and positive to at least −t=2.8 (GeV/c)2.

Backward-angle electron-proton elastic scattering and proton electromagnetic form-factors

Price, L.E. ; Dunning, J.R. ; Goitein, M. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 4 (1971) 45-53, 1971.
Inspire Record 67836 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23074

Elastic electron-proton scattering cross sections were measured at backward angles (80°-90°) in the laboratory for four-momentum transfers between 7 F−2 and 45 F−2. Experimental errors range from 3.1% to 5.3%, including a systematic error estimated to be 1.9% added in quadrature. Electric and magnetic form factors are computed from all the recent data in this q2 range, with allowance made for possible normalization differences. The results show a deviation from the scaling law.

Measurements of small angle proton proton elastic scattering at the cern intersecting storage rings

Amaldi, U. ; Biancastelli, R. ; Bosio, C. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 36 (1971) 504-508, 1971.
Inspire Record 69145 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28393

Proton-proton elastic scattering has been measured over the angular range 7 to 16 mrad at centre-of-mass energies of 31, 45 and 53 GeV using the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. The results indicate that the diffraction peak has continued to shrink with increasing energy, but not as fast as suggested by the results at lower energies.

Phys.Lett.B 34 (1971) 431-434, 1971.
Inspire Record 69311 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28522

The angular distribution of proton-proton elastic scattering has been measured for incident beam momenta of 10.0, 12.0, 14.2 and 24.0 GeV/ c over a range of laboratory scattering angles from 12 to about 140 mrad. The results are compared with the fourth power of the electromagnetic form of the proton.
