The ATLAS Collaboration has measured the inclusive production of $Z$ bosons via their decays into electron and muon pairs in $p+$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=5.02$ TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. The measurements are made using data corresponding to integrated luminosities of 29.4 nb$^{-1}$ and 28.1 nb$^{-1}$ for $Z \rightarrow ee$ and $Z \rightarrow \mu\mu$, respectively. The results from the two channels are consistent and combined to obtain a cross section times the $Z \rightarrow \ell\ell$ branching ratio, integrated over the rapidity region $|y^{*}_{Z}|<3.5$, of 139.8 $\pm$ 4.8 (stat.) $\pm$ 6.2 (syst.) $\pm$ 3.8 (lumi.) nb. Differential cross sections are presented as functions of the $Z$ boson rapidity and transverse momentum, and compared with models based on parton distributions both with and without nuclear corrections. The centrality dependence of $Z$ boson production in $p+$Pb collisions is measured and analyzed within the framework of a standard Glauber model and the model's extension for fluctuations of the underlying nucleon-nucleon scattering cross section.

$\phi$ meson production in $d+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV

Phys.Rev.C 92 (2015) 044909, 2015.
Inspire Record 1379995 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.142332

The PHENIX experiment has measured $\phi$ meson production in $d$$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV using the dimuon and dielectron decay channels. The $\phi$ meson is measured in the forward (backward) $d$-going (Au-going) direction, $1.2<y<2.2$ ($-2.2<y<-1.2$) in the transverse-momentum ($p_T$) range from 1--7 GeV/$c$, and at midrapidity $|y|<0.35$ in the $p_T$ range below 7 GeV/$c$. The $\phi$ meson invariant yields and nuclear-modification factors as a function of $p_T$, rapidity, and centrality are reported. An enhancement of $\phi$ meson production is observed in the Au-going direction, while suppression is seen in the $d$-going direction, and no modification is observed at midrapidity relative to the yield in $p$$+$$p$ collisions scaled by the number of binary collisions. Similar behavior was previously observed for inclusive charged hadrons and open heavy flavor indicating similar cold-nuclear-matter effects.

$\phi$ meson production in the forward/backward rapidity region in Cu$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV

The PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) has measured $\phi$ meson production and its nuclear modification in asymmetric Cu$+$Au heavy-ion collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV at both forward Cu-going direction ($1.2<y<2.2$) and backward Au-going direction ($-2.2<y<-1.2$), rapidities. The measurements are performed via the dimuon decay channel and reported as a function of the number of participating nucleons, rapidity, and transverse momentum. In the most central events, 0\%--20\% centrality, the $\phi$ meson yield integrated over $1<p_T<5$ GeV/$c$ prefers a smaller value, which means a larger nuclear modification, in the Cu-going direction compared to the Au-going direction. Additionally, the nuclear-modification factor in Cu$+$Au collisions averaged over all centrality is measured to be similar to the previous PHENIX result in $d$$+$Au collisions for these rapidities.

With a sample of about 2000( γ + γ ′+ γ ″) events observed in π-W interactions at 286GeV/ c , the ratio ( γ ′+ γ ″)/ γ =0.51±0.07, the branching ratio times the inclusive total cross section Bσ =(386±17±85) pb per W nucleus, as well as the differential cross sections in χ F and p T have been measured. These results are compared with previous data obtained with the same apparatus at a lower beam momentum (194 GeV/ c ). Both data sets are compared with a theoretical calculation (“duality model”) which also allows one to extract the shape parameter β g of the gluon distribution in the pion. β g is found to be 2.3 −0.3 +0.4 (stat.) −0.5 +0.1 (syst.).

The cross-section ratio of neutral-current and charged-current semileptonic interactions of muon-neutrinos on isoscalar nuclei has been measured with the result:Rv=0.3093±0.0031 for hadronic energy larger than 4 GeV. From this ratio we determined the electroweak mixing angle sin2θW, wheremc is the charm-quark mass in GeV/c2. Comparison with direct measurements ofmw andmz determines the radiative shift of the intermediate boson mass Δr=0.077±0.025(exp.)±0.038(syst.), in agreement with the prediction. Assuming the validity of the electroweak standard theory we determined ϱ=0.990−0.013(mc−1.5)±0.009(exp.)±0.003(theor.).

The momentum spectrum of protons emitted at small angles in the stripping reaction d + 12 C → p + X has been measured at a deuteron momentum of 8.9 GeV/ c . The data are described in the framework of the Glauber-Sitenko theory using the hybrid model of the deuteron wave function which includes a six-quark state. The parameters of this state are determined. A shoulder in the spectrum has been observed in the proton momenta region which kinematically corresponds to the production of a dibaryon resonance with a mass from 2.0 to 2.2 GeV.

The muon capture rate in the reaction mu- 3He -> nu + 3H has been measured at PSI using a modular high pressure ionization chamber. The rate corresponding to statistical hyperfine population of the mu-3He atom is (1496.0 +- 4.0) s^-1. This result confirms the PCAC prediction for the pseudoscalar form factors of the 3He-3H system and the nucleon.

Here CONST is defined as follows: CONST = lambda0/K/(1-e), where lambda0 = 0.45516E6 1/sec is the decay rate of MU, e=7.18% is the total correction factor and K is the prescaling factor of the muon trigger (from 500 till 2000). First reaction corresponds to detected tritons, while the second one describes stopped muons not followed by muon capture. The error is the combination of statistical and systematic errors.

TheA-dependence of the polarization ofΛ0,s produced inclusively in neutron-nucleus interactions at a mean neutron momentum of about 40 GeV/c has been measured in an experiment performed using the BIS-2 spectrometer at the Serpukhov accelerator. Carbon, Aluminium and Copper targets were used. TheΛ0,s were produced in the kinematical region of 0.6<pT<1.3 GeV/c and 0.2<xF<0.9. Describing the polarization of theΛ0,s by ℘=a·A a value of (−0.15+0.07/−0.60) was obtained by a fit to our data.
