In an exposure of the chamber Mirabelle at the Serpukhov accelerator, 1 943 interactions at 50 GeV/ c and 8 959 at 69 GeV/ c have been observed. Topological cross sections and charged multiplicity distributions are presented. The average charged multiplicities found are respectively 5.32 ± 0.13 and 5.89 ± 0.07.
2PRONG INELASTIC CROSS SECTIONS DERIVED BY SUBTRACTION OF OTHER PRONG CROSS SECTIONS AND KNOWN ELASTIC MEASUREMENTS FROM THE TOTAL.
We have measured the total inelastic cross section (σinel) and charged-particle multiplicities obtained in pp collisions at 405 GeV/c. The data are from a preliminary 12 000-picture bubble-chamber exposure. We find σinel=32.8±1.0 mb; the low moments of the multiplicity distribution for negative particles are 〈n−〉=3.50±0.07, D−=2.37±0.05, f2−=2.1±0.2, and f3−=0.1±0.9. We also present updated results at 102 GeV/c.

FIT TO ELASTIC DIFFERENTIAL CROSS SECTION FOR 0.05 < -T < 0.7 GEV**2.
We have measured cross section for γ , K S °, Λ and Λ production at 102 GeV/ c and find: σ ( γ ) = 170 ± 16 mb ., σ ( K S °) = 4.6 ± 0.5 mb ., σ ( Λ ) = 3.2 ± 0.4 mb ., and σ( Λ ) = 0.23 ± 0.10 mb. Both 〈 n π °〉 and 〈 n Ks °〉 appear to rise linearly with n - while the ratio 〈 n Ks °〉/〈 n π °〉 is approximately independent of n - . The integrated invariant cross section as a function of x as well as d σ /d y and d σ /d p T 2 are presented and compared with other data.

We studied K+p interactions at 100 GeV with the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory 30-in. hydrogen bubble chamber and associated spark-chamber system. We find σtot(K+p)=18.7±1.8 mb and σel(K+p)=2.0±0.4 mb. We present the charged-multiplicity distribution and its moments, and the charge-transfer distribution. The average inelastic charged multiplicity is 〈nc〉=6.65±0.31 and the two-charged-particle correlation functions are f2cc=4.52±1.32 and f2−−=0.47±0.35.

Correlations between pions produced in pp collisions at 69 GeV/c are observed both for π−π+ and π−π−. Short-range correlations in rapidity are present fory1⋍y2 in both cases; an enhancement is seen aroundy1=y2=±1. Correlations between transverse variables are linked to those in rapidity for π−π− combinations, whereas the effect is essentially kinematical for π+π−.

From a study of 1226 neutral strange particles produced in pp interactions at 69 GeV/ c in the MIRABELLE hydrogen bubble chamber, we obtain the inclusive cross sections for K S 0 , Λ / Σ 0 , Λ / Σ 0 equal to 3.43 ± 0.23, 3.44 ± 0.2 and 0.16 ± 0.03 mb, respectively. The inclusive distributions are compared with corresponding data at other energies.

We present the inclusive and semi-inclusive production of protons, π+, π−, for the full range of kinematic variables, from 7850 inelastic interactions obtained in the 4.7 m liquid-hydrogen bubble chamber Mirabelle at the Serpukhov accelerator and with an incident proton beam of 69 GeV/c. We have measured the inclusive cross section for the reactions p+n→p+X and π++n→p+X at 100 GeV/c in the kinematic region |t|<1.0 GeV2. The data were obtained from an exposure of the Fermilab 30-in. deuterium-filled bubble chamber to a tagged positively charged beam. The differential cross sections for these reactions are observed to scale in the ratio of the pn and π+n total cross sections and to be consistent with the predictions of a Reggeized one-pion-exchange model.
