RADIATIVE TAILS OF PSI RESONANCES HAVE BEEN REMOVED. SIG(HAD) IS NOT TABULATED FOR 4.0 TO 4.4 GEV AS THE DATA POINTS ARE TOO CLOSE TO DISTINGUISH FROM THE GRAPH.

MEASURED VALUE OF CHARM CROSS SECTION AFTER SUBTRACTION OF ALL BACKGROUNDS (R = 2.22 +- 0.060 FOR FLAT BACKGROUND AROUND PSI(3700)0) AND RADIATIVE TAILS.
Results are presented on multihadron production by e+e- annihilation from the Mark I and Mark II detectors at SPEAR. Other-than the narrow resonances psi(3095) and psi'(3634), the total hadronic cross section varies between 36.5 and 6.4 nb over the center-of-mass energy range 2.6 to 7.8 GeV with complicated structure near 4.1 GeV not completely resolved by these measurements. Evidence for scaling of inclusive momentum distributions of hadrons is presented.

MORE DETAILED TABULATION OF R IN THE TRANSITION REGION.
CHARGED SINGLE PARTICLE INCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTIONS FROM THIS EXPERIMENT ARE GIVEN IN THE RECORD OF G. G. HANSON, TBILISI CONFERENCE 1976, SLAC-PUB-1814.
We have measured the inclusive cross section for η production in e+e− interactions near charm threshold using the Crystal Ball detector. No pronounced structure in the energy dependence is observed. By comparing cross sections above and below charm threshold we obtain the limits (90% confidence limit): R(e+e−→FF¯X)RB(F→ηx)<0.15−0.32 (for Ec.m. from 4.0 to 4.5 GeV), RB(D→ηx)<0.13. Our results are inconsistent with a previous report of a large energy dependence of the η cross section ascribed to the crossing of the FF* and F*F* production thresholds.

D* cross sections.
Using the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have measured inclusive and exclusive cross sections for the production of D+, D0 and Ds+ mesons in e+e- annihilations at thirteen center-of-mass energies between 3.97 and 4.26 GeV. Exclusive cross sections are presented for final states consisting of two charm mesons (DD, D*D, D*D*, Ds+Ds-, Ds*+Ds-, and Ds*+Ds*-) and for processes in which the charm-meson pair is accompanied by a pion. No enhancement in any final state is observed at the energy of the Y(4260).
