Inspire Record 194648 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23730

The diffractive dissociation of a 200-GeV/c π− beam into KS0KS0π+π−π− has been observed. The diffractive KS0KS0π+π−π− cross section is 1.59±0.78 μb. The ratio of the diffractive KS0KS0π+π−π− cross section to the diffractive KS0KS0π− cross section is 0.40±0.13, which is in good agreement with a diffractive-fragmentation-model prediction of 0.36. There is evidence for simultaneous production of K*− and K*+ in the diffractive KS0KS0π+π−π− sample. The K*+−KS0π−+ mass distribution shows an enhancement near 1.95 GeV.

An analysis of the Λ p p system produced forward in the reaction K p → Λ p p at 18.5 GeV/ c is presented. The data come from an experiment using the CERN Ω′ spectrometer. Structures are observed in the Λ p mass spectrum and in the double moments H LMlm describing the decay of the Λ p system and the subsequent Λ decay, for L ⩽ 8. A partial wave analysis interprets these structures as resonances of spin parities 2 − and 3 + , masses and widths M = 2200 ± 40 MeV, Γ = 150 ± 30 MeV and M = 2330 ± 40 MeV, Γ = 150 ± 30 MeV respectively.

The reaction π−A→Aπ− γ at 40 GeV/c was studied on “Sigma” spectrometer on six different nuclear targets in the region of four-momentum transfer |t|<0.05 (GeV/c)2. A phenomenon of elastic scattering of pions on the nuclear Coulomb field photons was observed, its total and differential cross sections were measured. The cross section of Compton effect on π−-meson was measured.

First Results on Low Momentum Transfer Elastic Scattering at the {CERN} Proton - Anti-proton Collider

Phys.Lett.B 115 (1982) 333-337, 1982.
Inspire Record 178576 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30890

Proton-antiproton elastic scattering at a centre-of-mass energy of 540 GeV was measured in the four-momentum transfer range 0.05 < − t < s .19 GeV 2 . The t -distribution can be fitted by the exponential exp( b ) with b =17.2±1.0 GeV −2 . This result indicates a rapid decrease of the width of the diffraction peak between ISR and Collider energies.

Diffractive Production of 3 $\pi$ States at 63-{GeV} and 94-{GeV}

Diffractive production of the 3 π system has been studied at 63 and 94 GeV using a two magnet spectrometer with high, uniform acceptance. The total number of events used in the analysis is ∼600 000. The A 2 meson is shown to be diffractively produced. The existence of a resonant component in both the 1 + and 2 − enhancements is established and resonance parameters for the corresponding A 1 and A 3 mesons are given. There are several indications in the data of states which would correspond to radial excitations in the quark model.

POLARIZATION PARAMETERS AND ANGULAR DISTRIBUTIONS IN PI+- P ELASTIC SCATTERING AT 100-GEV/C AND IN P P ELASTIC SCATTERING AT 100-GEV/C AND 300-GEV/C

Measurements of the polarization parameters and angular distributions are reported for π±p elastic scattering at 100 GeV/c and for pp elastic scattering at 100- and 300-GeV/c incident momentum. The π±p data cover the kinematic range 0.18≤−t≤1.10 GeV2 and are in agreement with current Regge-model predictions. The pp data cover the kinematic range 0.15≤−t≤1.10 GeV2 and 0.15≤−t≤2.00 GeV2 at 100 and 300 GeV/c, respectively, and are found to be consistent with absorption-model predictions.

MEASUREMENT OF J / psi PRODUCTION IN 280-GeV/c mu+ IRON INTERACTIONS

Virtual photoproduction of J/ ψ mesons has been measured for 280 GeV muon iron interactions in an iron/scintillator calorimeter target. The J/ψ's were identified by their decay into muon pairs. 315 events were observed, about half of which were elastic. The t , Q 2 and v distributions of these elastic events are presented. The v dependence is measured between 40 and 180 Mev and compared with lower energy photoproduction results. The Q 2 dependence is compared with the predictions of the vector dominance model.
