InclusiveKs0, Λ and\(\bar \Lambda\)-production has been investigated in\(\bar p\)p-interactions at 22.4 GeV/c. Total and topological cross sections and multiplicity characteristics of neutral strange particles have been determined. DifferentialKs0 and Λ-cross sections and also characteristics of annihilation processes with neutral kaon production have been studied. It is shown that the difference of the shapes of the invariantx-distributions forK-mesons in the fragmentation region for annihilation and non-annihilation processes can be described in the framework of the “dual” valon model, but not by considering the current (undressed) quark recombination mechanisms only. The polarization of Λ and\(\bar \Lambda\)-hyperons has been measured.

Results are presented on the charge exchange reaction\(\bar pp \to \bar nn\) and\(\bar np\) annihilations from bubble chamber exposures to antiproton beam of momenta 700 and 760 MeV/c. The differential cross section of\(\bar pp \to \bar nn\) shows a forward spike followed by a clear dip bump structure. Total annihilation cross section of\(\bar np\) for average\(\bar n\) momentum of 700 MeV/c has been evaluated to be 55.4±2.2 mb. The multiplicity, Feynmanx andpT2 distributions for inclusive charged pions in\(\bar pp\) and\(\bar np\) annihilations are found to be similar. The emission of charged pions from\(\bar np\) annihilations are found to be consistent with thermodynamic models with temperature ∼110 MeV.

Interactions of antiprotons were studied at a momentum of 3.6 GeV/c in a hydrogen bubble chamber. Particular attention was paid to single and multiple pion production without annihilation. Cross sections for the various pion-production channels are given. The total cross section for pion production without annihilation and not including strange-particle production is 18.6−3.3+2.4 mb. Single pion production is found to agree with the predictions of the one-pion-exchange model for small values of the four-momentum transfer. Double pion production in the reaction p¯p→pp¯π+π− agrees with the one-pion-exchange model for all values of the four-momentum transfer, if all possible diagrams are taken into account. The main contribution comes from events where a 32−32 pion-nucleon isobar-anti-isobar pair is produced. For these events the Treiman-Yang angular distribution and the decay angular distributions of the isobars are also in agreement with the one-pion-exchange model.

We have observed muon pairs with effective masses in the range 7<~Mμμ<~11 GeV/c2 produced by 300- and 400-GeV protons incident on a Cu target at Fermilab. The production cross section per nucleon, dσdMμμ, for 400-GeV incident protons is found to fall from 1 × 10−36 cm2/(GeV/c2) at Mμμ=7.7 GeV/c2 to 2.7 × 10−38 cm2/(GeV/c2) at Mμμ=11.2 GeV/c2. We find that a significant fraction of the observed direct single muons come from high-mass dimuons.

The inclusive production of γ's and πp0's inK−p-interactions at 32 GeV/c is studied. About 30.000 γ's coming from a Mirabelle bubble chamber experiment with a sensitivity of 6.5 ev/μb have been used for the analysis. Inclusive and topological cross sections of γ's are measured. The γ invariant differential distributions and their scaling properties are investigated. The inclusive cross section of πp0-production is determined and the πp0 invariant differential distributions are evaluated and compared to those of πp±.

A study ofW± andZ0 properties has been performed using the UA2 detector at the\(\bar pp\) collider. The data correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 142 nb−1 at\(\sqrt s \)=546 GeV, and of 310 nb−1 at\(\sqrt s \)=630 GeV. We have measured the differential and total cross sections ofD meson production in 200 GeV π−-beryllium interactions, using a sample of 48 fully reconstructed and nearly background-freeD mesons in the decay channelsK∓π±,K∓π±π± andK∓π∓π±π±. A single electron trigger has been used to select events containing a pair of charmed particles. A vertex telescope of 6 silison microstrip detectors allowed the reconstruction of tracks of charged secondaries and the reconstruction of primary and decay vertices with high precision. The ratio of branching fractions for\(\mathop {D^0 }\limits^{( - )}\to K^ \mp\pi ^ \pm\) to\(\mathop {D^0 }\limits^{( - )}\to K^ \mp\pi ^ \mp\pi ^ \pm\pi ^ \pm\), and an upper limit for\(D^0- \bar D^0 \) mixing are presented.
