Transverse momentum distributions for meson resonances at central rapidity and P(t) >= 2-GeV/c

The transverse momentum distributions for$\rho ^0 (770),f_2 (1270),K*^0 (892),\bar K*^0 (892)$ and ϕ (1020) have been studied in thept region between 2 and 4 GeV/c and central rapidity. The data analysed come from the WA77 experiment at CERN with a 300 GeV/c π− beam incident on a Be target. These distributions are well described by the functionpt−n withn∼8. A sample of simulated events from the Lund Monte Carlo in the same experimental conditions reproduces well the data.

Investigation of inclusive reactions with production of meson resonances in pion-carbon interactions at 5 GeV/c

Total inclusive cross sections for rho0, ω and f (1270) meson production and the corresponding average multiplicities < n(rho0) > = 0.072+-0.019, < n(ω) > = 0.033+-0.022, < n(f) > = 0 01 +-0.010 have been measured in π-C interactions at 5 GeV/c. It is shown that approximately 8 percent of secondary π- mesons are produced from the meson resonance decay. For the reactions with the production of rho0 mesons the dependence of the inclusive differential cross sections on the rapidity and squared transverse momentum is analysed
