Partial production cross sections of projectile alpha fragments produced in high-energy interactions of 16 O and 32 S at 200 GeV/n and 16 O at 60 GeV/n in emulsion are studied. The production of the meson resonances ϱ(770) (all three charge states), η(550), ω(783) andf2(1270) in\(\bar v\) Ne and ν Ne charged current interactions is investigated in a bubble chamber experiment with BEBC at CERN. Except for thef2, the main features of resonance production are reasonably well described by the Lund model, although the average resonance multiplicities are overestimated by the model by (67±30)%. The average multiplicities of all resonances, including thef2, are well reproduced by a semiempirical model, whose parameters were determined from hadron interaction data.

The cross sections of a number of target residues formed in the reactions of 3.65 A GeV 12C ions and 3.65 GeV protons with tantalum have been measured. The measurements have been done by direct counting of irradiated targets with a Ge(Li) gamma-ray spectrometer. Charge dispersions and mass-yield distributions were deduced from these data. The results are discussed in terms of the basic concepts of high-energy nuclear physics. They are also compared with intranuclear cascade and abrasion-ablation model calculations.

This paper presents exhaustive, new data on the shower and compound multiplicity charactersties of 24 Mg-emulsion and 12 C-emulsion interactions at incident momentum of 4.5 GeV/ c per nucleon. A comparative study is made (whenever possible) with p-emulsion interaction data at the same incident momentum per nucleon. The linear dependences of different multplicities on shower and compound multiplicity, e.g., 〈 n i 〉 = a ij + k ij n j -( i ≠ j ), are also shown in this paper.

2550 interactions of 12 C in emulsion at 4.5 A GeV / c have been used to study the properties of projectile fragments. The multiplicity and projected angular distributions of projectile fragments in different target groups have been studied. The production cross section of the reaction in which projectile 12 C breaks up into two Z = 3 fragments is found to be 6.6 × 10 −3 of the total inelastic cross section. The projected angular distributions of fragments exhibit features of limiting fragmentation. Statistically significant azimuthal correlations among fragments in the azimuthal plane indicates that the fragmenting nucleus gets a transverse momentum during the collision.
