This paper presents measurements of \k\ and \lam\ production in neutral current, deep inelastic scattering of 26.7 GeV electrons and 820 GeV protons in the kinematic range $ 10 < Q~{2} < 640 $ GeV$~2$, $0.0003 < x < 0.01$, and $y > 0.04$. Average multiplicities for \k\ and \lam\ production are determined for transverse momenta \ \ptr\ $> 0.5 $ GeV and pseudorapidities $\left| \eta \right| < 1.3$. The multiplicities favour a stronger strange to light quark suppression in the fragmentation chain than found in $e~+ e~-$ experiments. The production properties of \k's in events with and without a large rapidity gap with respect to the proton direction are compared. The ratio of neutral \k's to charged particles per event in the measured kinematic range is, within the present statistics, the same in both samples.

Phys.Rev.Lett. 74 (1995) 2427-2430, 1995.
Inspire Record 414771 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19664

The neutron transmission through a thorogenic liquid 208Pb sample 2 in. thick has been measured in the neutron energy range between 0.1 and 360 eV at the ORNL neutron source ORELA. Analyzing the shape of the transmission spectra as a function of neutron energy, agreement was found with the predictions by the atomic form factor. With a sensitivity for the mean squared charge radius of the neutron 〈rn2〉 as high as 3%, a very reliable and also accurate result of 〈rn2〉=−0.113±0.003±0.004fm2 was extracted. For the neutron-electron scattering length we obtained bne=(−1.31±0.03±0.04)×10−3fm.

CONST(NAME=SCATTERING LENGTH) is related to the mean sqared charge radius of the neutron by <r(N)**2> = c(n) * CONST(NAME=SCATTERING LENGTH), where c(n) = 86.387 fm.

Short-Range Nucleon-Nucleon Correlations Investigated with the Reaction C-12 (e, e-prime pp)

Phys.Rev.Lett. 74 (1995) 1712-1715, 1995.
Inspire Record 414880 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19658

The reaction C12(e,e′pp) has been studied at an energy transfer ω=212MeV and a three-momentum transfer |q|=70MeV/c. The measured missing-energy spectrum shows a signature for knockout of proton pairs from (1p)2, (1p,1s), and (1s)2 states. A comparison of the data with a calculation, in which different processes leading to two-nucleon knockout are accounted for, shows that the measured cross section for the knockout of a (1p)2 pair can largely be attributed to short-range nucleon-nucleon correlations.

Measurements of proton total reaction cross-sections for Ni-58 and Ni-60 including nonrelativistic and relativistic data analyses

Eliyakut-Roshko, T. ; McCamis, R.H. ; van Oers, W.T.H. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.C 51 (1995) 1295-1305, 1995.
Inspire Record 411141 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.25950

Using a standard beam attenuation technique, proton total reaction cross sections (σR) for Ni58 and Ni60 have been measured at seven incident energies from 23 to 48 MeV to an absolute accuracy of 1 to 3%. The results have been compared both with nonrelativistic optical model predictions using global parameters and a relativistic optical model using a standard mixture of potential terms. Nuclear trans- parency calculations have also been made for these nuclei using all published data below 100 MeV.

Nucl.Phys.B 441 (1995) 3-11, 1995.
Inspire Record 393377 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32848

We present a re-evaluation of the structure function ratios F2(He)/F2(D), F2(C)/F2(D) and F2(Ca)/F2(D) measured in deep inelastic muon-nucleus scattering at an incident muon momentum of 200 GeV. We also present the ratios F2(C)/F2(Li), F2(Ca)/F2(Li) and F2(Ca)/F2(C) measured at 90 GeV. The results are based on data already published by NMC; the main difference in the analysis is a correction for the masses of the deuterium targets and an improvement in the radiative corrections. The kinematic range covered is 0.0035 < x < 0.65, 0.5 < Q^2 <90 GeV^2 for the He/D, C/D and Ca/D data and 0.0085 < x < 0.6, 0.84 < Q^2 < 17 GeV^2 for the Li/C/Ca ones.

Phys.Rev.C 51 (1995) 1303-1311, 1995.
Inspire Record 411140 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.25971

Double-differential cross sections for proton and deuteron production in fast neutron induced reactions on carbon are reported for three incident neutron energies: 42.5, 62.7, and 72.8 MeV. Angular distributions were measured at laboratory angles between 20° and 160°. Procedures for data taking and data reduction are presented. Energy-differential cross sections and total cross sections are also reported. Experimental cross sections are compared with existing data and with theoretical calculations in the frame of the intranuclear cascade model.

Total cross-section measurements for muon-neutrino, anti-muon-neutrino interactions in 3-GeV - 30-GeV energy range with IHEP-JINR neutrino detector

Z.Phys.C 70 (1996) 39-46, 1996.
Inspire Record 400486 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.40711

The results of total cross section measurements for theνμ,\(\bar \nu _\mu\) interactions with isoscalar target in the 3 – 30 GeV energy range have been presented. The data were obtained with the IHEP-JINR Neutrino Detector in the “natural” neutrino beams of the U-70 accelerator. Neutrino fluxes were obtained by averaging the spectra, based on the calculations with the use of the experimental data on secondary particle yields from the target and muon fluxes measurements in 9 gaps of the muon filter, as well as the spectra determined from quasi-elastic events and spectra defined by extrapolating differential distributiondσ/dy in the regiony=0. The significant deviation from the linear dependence forσtot versus neutrino energy is determined in the energy range less than 15 GeV.

Precision measurement of the deuteron spin structure function g1(d)

The E143 collaboration Abe, K. ; Akagi, T. ; Anthony, P.L. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 75 (1995) 25-28, 1995.
Inspire Record 393667 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19611

We report on a high-statistics measurement of the deuteron spin structure function g1d at a beam energy of 29 GeV in the kinematic range 0.029<x<0.8 and 1<Q2<10 (GeV /c)2. The integral γ1d=∫1g1ddx evaluated at fixed Q2=3 (GeV /c)2 gives 0.042±0.003(stat)±0.004(syst). Combining this result with our earlier measurement of g1p, we find γ1p−γ1n=0.163±0.010(stat)±0.016(syst), which agrees with the prediction of the Bjorken sum rule with O(αs3) corrections, γ1p−γ1n=0.171±0.008. We find the quark contribution to the proton helicity to be Δq=0.30±0.06.

Measurement of the D*+- cross-section in two photon collisions at LEP

The ALEPH collaboration Buskulic, D. ; Casper, D. ; De Bonis, I. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 355 (1995) 595-605, 1995.
Inspire Record 394752 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.47950

The inclusive production of D ∗± mesons in photon-photon collisions has been measured by the Aleph experiment at LEP with a beam energy of 45 GeV. The D ∗+ are detected in their decay to D 0 π + with the D 0 observed in three separate decay modes: (1) K − π + , (2) K − π + π 0 and (3) K − π + π − π + , and analagously for the D ∗− modes. A total of 33 events was observed from an integrated luminosity of 73 pb −1 which corresponds to a cross section for Σ( e + e − → e + e − D ∗± X ) of 155 ± 33 ± 21 pb. This result is compatible with both the direct production γγ → c c in the Born approximation and with a more complete calculation which includes both radiative QCD corrections and contributions in which one of the photons is first resolved into its quark and gluon constituents. The shapes of distributions for events containing a D ∗+ are found to be better described by the latter.
