Using the new Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron polarized proton beam and our polarized proton target, we measured the spin-spin correlation parameter Ann in 16.5-GeV/c proton-proton elastic scattering. We found an Ann of (6.1±3.0)% at P⊥2=2.2 (GeV/c)2. We also measured the analyzing power A in two independent ways, providing a good test of possible experimental errors. Comparing our new data with 12-GeV Argonne Zero Gradient Synchrotron data shows no evidence for strong energy dependence in Ann in this medium-P⊥2 region.

The difference ΔσT=σ(↓↑)-σ(↑↑) between the proton-proton total cross sections for protons in pure transverse-spin states, was measured at incident momenta 0.8 to 2.5 GeV/c in experiments performed at the Los Alamos Clinton P. Anderson Meson Physics Facility and the Argonne Zero Gradient Synchrotron. In agreement with other data, peaks were observed at center-of-mass energies of 2.14 and 2.43 GeV/c2, where D21 and G41 dibaryon resonances have been proposed.

We present measurements of kaon and antiproton production cross sections in the momentum region of 700 MeV/c from 0° to 10° by 28.4-GeV/c protons on complex nuclei. A model to describe the A dependence of these cross sections is discussed and compared with these and other data.

TARGET ASYMMETRY MEASUREMENT OF DEUTERON PHOTODISINTEGRATION AT A PHOTON ENERGY OF 550-MEV

Althoff, K.H. ; Anton, G. ; Bock, B. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 26 (1984) 175-179, 1984.
Inspire Record 214987 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.16199

The target asymmetry of the deuteron photodisintegration was measured at a photon energy of 550±50 MeV and at proton center-off-mass angles between 25 and 155 degrees.D-butanol andND3 were used as target material yielding a maximum deuteron polarization of 41%. Proton and neutron were detected in coincidence. The data show a structure which cannot be described by the existing analyses.

Z.Phys.C 26 (1984) 343-351, 1984.

The differential and total corss sections and the decay density matrix elements have been measured for the reactions, γp→ωp and γp→ωΔ+ (1232) in the photon energy range 2.8 to 4.8 GeV. The total cross sections for ωΔ+ (1232) photo-production are found to be slightly larger than those for elastic ω photo-production in this energy range. The data are compared to the predictions of a theoretical model and the contributing exchange mechanics are discussed.

RESULTS FOR NEUTRAL TO CHARGED CURRENT CROSS-SECTION RATIOS FROM neutrino AND anti-neutrino NUCLEUS INTERACTIONS BELOW 30-GeV

Z.Phys.C 30 (1986) 569, 1986.
Inspire Record 215972 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15876

Using the freon filled bubble chamber SKAT in the (anti)neutrino wide band beam of the Serpukhov accelerator we determine the neutral to charged current cross section ratios for neutrinos and antineutrinos below 30GeV. From these ratios we calculate in leading order a mixing parameter of the standard model of Θw=0.215±0.029.

The polarization and magnetic moment of the $\Sigma^+$ hyperon have been determined by analyzing 137,300 $\Sigma^+ \to p \pi^0, \pi^0 \to 2 \gamma$ decays. A beam of + inclusively-produced, polarized $\Sigma^+$ hyperons was generated in a Fermilab Meson Lab beamline by 400 GeV protons incident on a beryllium target. The $\Sigma^+$'s were produced at an angle of 5 mrad and ranged in momentum from 140 GeV/c to 350 GeV/c. + 0 The $\Sigma^+ \to p \pi^0, \pi \to 2 \gamma$ decays were detected by a multiwire proportional and drift chamber spectrometer with a lead glass array....

New Results on the Reaction $e^+ e^- \to \mu^+ \mu^-$ at $\sqrt{s}=29$-{GeV}

Phys.Rev.D 31 (1985) 2352, 1985.
Inspire Record 212767 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3935

We have measured the process e+e−→μ+μ− at √s =29 GeV using the High Resolution Spectrometer at SLAC PEP. The forward-backward charge asymmetry is Aμμ=-(4.9±1.5±0.5)% based on 5057 events. A subsample of 3488 μ+μ− events in the angular range ‖cosθ‖<0.55 gives a cross-section ratio of Rμμ=0.990±0.017±0.030. The resulting couplings of the weak neutral current are gaegaμ=0.208±0.064± 0.021 and gvegvμ=0.027 ±0.051±0.089. The QED cutoff parameters are Λ+>170 GeV and Λ−>146 GeV at 95% C.L.

PROMPT MUON PRODUCTION IN e+ e- ANNIHILATIONS AT 29-GeV

The TPC/Two Gamma collaboration Aihara, H. ; Alston-Garnjost, M. ; Badtke, D.H. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 31 (1985) 2719, 1985.
Inspire Record 213118 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3937

We have studied the production of prompt muons in hadronic events from e+e− annihilation at a center-of-mass energy of 29 GeV with the PEP4-TPC (Time Projection Chamber) detector. The muon p and pt distributions are well described by a combination of bottom- and charm-quark decays, with fitted semimuonic branching fractions of (15.2±1.9±1.2)% and (6.9±1.1±1.1)%, respectively. The muon spectra imply hard fragmentation functions for both b and c quarks, with 〈z(b quark)〉=0.80±0.05±0.05 and 〈z(c quark)〉=0.60±0.06±0.04. We derive neutral-current axial-vector couplings of a(b quark)=-0.9±1.1±0.3 and a(c quark)=1.5±1.5±0.5 from the forward-backward asymmetries.
