Dimuon production below mass 3.1-GeV/c**2 in p W and S W interactions at 200-A/GeV/c

Inspire Record 407648 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.36493

The focus of this experiment is on dimuons at low M T but the mass range up to the J ψ is also covered. Dimuons are measured over a wide rapidity interval, ranging from nearly central to very forward rapidities. Experimental results concerning the vector meson production in p-W and S-W interactions at 200 GeV/c/A as a function of the charged multiplicity are presented together with a comparison of the observed invariant mass spectra with the dimuon conventional sources in the mass region between the φ and J ψ mesons. The observed large difference in the shape and absolute value of p-W and S-W dimuon spectra cannot be explained in terms of a direct extrapolation of the p-p results.

Multiplicity characteristics of particles produced in C-12 emulsion collisions at 4.5-A/GeV/c

Ahmad, M.S. ; Khan, M.Q.R. ; Siddique, K.A. ; et al.
Int.J.Mod.Phys.A 10 (1995) 845-857, 1995.
Inspire Record 401127 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.40450

Experimental data on multiplicities and correlations of charged particles of different types produced in collisions of 4.5 A GeV/c carbon-12 with emulsion are reported and discussed. The data are compared with the results of other experiments on nucleus–nucleus and hadron–nucleus collisions. It is found that the particle production mechanism in nucleus–nucleus collisions is almost the same as in hadron–nucleus collisions. It is also observed that the shower particles' multiplicity distributions obey a KNO type scaling law, which supports the aforementioned result.

Measurement of the reaction C-12 (muon-neutrino, mu-) X near threshold

The LSND collaboration Albert, M. ; Athanassopoulos, C. ; Auerbach, L.B. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.C 51 (1995) 1065-1069, 1995.
Inspire Record 378770 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.25973

The reaction $~{12}{\rm C}(\nu_\mu,\mu~-) {\rm X}$ has been measured near threshold using a $\pi ~+$ decay-in-flight $\nu_\mu$ beam from the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility and a massive liquid scintillator neutrino detector (LSND). In the energy region $123.7 < {\rm E}_\nu < 280$ MeV, the measured spectral shape is consistent with that expected from the Fermi Gas Model. However, the measured flux--averaged inclusive cross section ($(8.3 \pm 0.7 {\rm stat.} \pm 1.6 {\rm syst.}) \times 10~{-40} {\rm cm}~2$) is more than a factor of 2 lower than that predicted by the Fermi Gas Model and by a recent random phase approximation calculation.

A Search for excited fermions in electron - proton collisions at HERA

The ZEUS collaboration Derrick, M. ; Krakauer, D. ; Magill, S. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 65 (1995) 627-648, 1995.
Inspire Record 378836 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.45049

A search for excited states of the standard model fermions was performed using the ZEUS detector at the HERA electron-proton collider, operating at a centre of mass energy of 296 GeV. In a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.55 pb−1, no evidence was found for any resonant state decaying into final states composed of a fermion and a gauge boson. Limits on the coupling strength times branching ratio of excited fermions are presented for masses between 50 GeV and 250 GeV, extending previous search regions significantly.

Production of helium fragments in Au-197 emulsion collisions at 10.6-A/GeV

Singh, G. ; Jain, P.L. ;
Z.Phys.A 348 (1994) 99-104, 1994.
Inspire Record 380467 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.16555

We present a systematic analysis on the helium projectile fragments produced from 10.6 A GeV197Auemulsion interactions in an experiment conducted at the Brookhaven AGS. Total charge changing and partial production cross-sections are measured experimentally on the basis of helium multiplicity. The multiplicity distribution of helium fragments which are produced collectively obey a KNO scaling. The transverse momentum distribution of these particles indicates that they are produced from two different independent sources.

Inelastic interactions of Li-6 nuclei in emulsion at 4.5-A/GeV/c as a probe for Li-6 internal structure

El-Sharkawy, S. ;
Phys.Scripta 50 (1994) 97-101, 1994.
Inspire Record 383434 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19309

The mean free path for inelastic interactions of 6Li in emulsion is measured and found not to be in systematic agreement with the different known theoretical parameterizations. This may be attributed to the loosely bound structure of 6Li nuclei. Possible internal structures of 6Li nuclei are investigated via the analysis of the shower particles multiplicity distributions for inclusive and central 6Li-Em interactions. In this analysis the experimental P-Em, d-Em and α-Em data are used as inputs for folding the corresponding distributions for 6Li-Em interactions. The results from central collisions favour the (α + d) cluster structure for the incident 6Li nuclei.

Transverse momentum distributions of eta mesons in near threshold relativistic heavy ion reactions

Berg, F.D. ; Pfeiffer, M. ; Schwalb, O. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 72 (1994) 977-980, 1994.
Inspire Record 376197 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20916

Transverse momentum spectra of η mesons have been measured near the free nucleon-nucleon production threshold in the heavy ion reactions Ar40+ Canat, Kr86 + Zrnat, and Au197+ Au197 at 1.0A GeV and also in Ar40+ Canat at 1.5A GeV. The measured transverse momentum distributions are compared to model calculations. The relative abundance of Δ(1232) and N(1535) resonances excited in the collision is deduced. A comparison to pion data reveals scaling with the transverse mass of the emitted meson.
