We present a reanalysis of the data from Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) experiments E140 [R. C. Walker et al., Phys. Rev. D 49, 5671 (1994)] and NE11 [L. Andivahis et al., Phys. Rev. D 50, 5491 (1994)] on elastic electron-proton scattering. This work is motivated by recent progress in calculating the corresponding radiative corrections and by the apparent discrepancy between the Rosenbluth and polarization transfer measurements of the proton electromagnetic form factors. New, corrected values for the scattering cross sections are presented, as well as a new form factor fit in the $Q^2$ range from 1 to 8.83 $\text{GeV}^2$. We also provide a complete set of revised formulas to account for radiative corrections in single-arm measurements of unpolarized elastic electron-proton scattering.

Targets made of C, Al, Cu, Pb, and U were exposed to π+, π−, and proton beams of 9.92 and 19.85 GeV/c (for p-Pb only) at the Brookhaven AGS. A magnetic spectrometer with spark chambers was used to detect elastically scattered particles in the Coulomb-nuclear interference region (5-35 mrad). Differential cross sections are presented and compared with an optical model, taking full account of multiple scattering in the target.

The experimental energy, angular and isotopic distributions for hydrogen and helium nuclei produced in 6.7 GeV deuteron interactions with 58Ni and 64Ni isotopes are presented. The data obtained by using the multichannel E-E semiconductor spectrometer in the 3-50 MeV energy range. Energy spectra are very close to Maxwell distribution, angular distributions are isotropic, isotopic ratios do not depend on emission angle of fragments but depend on a projectile mass

The differential cross section for photoproduction of 1r + mesons from protons at an energy Ey = 230 MeV has been measured for center-of-mass angles of 0, 38, 82, 90, 116, 138, 146, and 180°. A magnetic spectrometer and a meson-stopping detector were used to identify mesons from momentum and range. stopped 1r+ mesons were detected by means of the 1r- p. decay. The statistical accuracy of the results is ±(3-4)% on the average. From comparison of the experimental data with theoretical calculations based on dispersion relations, we have estimated the value of the y1rp coupling constant, Ay1rp = (0.63 ± O.ll)ef.

We present an analysis of electroweak leptonic couplings from high statistics experiments on Bhabha scattering and μ pair production at an energy of 34.5 GeV. The forward-backward charge asymmetry of the μ pairs was measured to be −0.098±0.023±0.005. The data were found to agree well with the standard theory of electroweak interaction giving sin2θW=0.27±0.07. The leptonic weak couplings were determined to begv=0.000±0.170 andgA=−0.481±0.055. The data were also used to investigate a class of composite models for leptons.

A new high precision measurement of the reaction pp -> pK+Lambda at a beam momentum of 2.95 GeV/c with more than 200,000 analyzed events allows a detailed analysis of differential observables and their inter-dependencies. Correlations of the angular distributions with momenta are examined. The invariant mass distributions are compared for different regions in the Dalitz plots. The cusp structure at the N Sigma threshold is described with the Flatt\'e formalism and its variation in the Dalitz plot is analyzed.

Production of Charged Pions in Collisions of 600-MeV Neutrons with Nuclei of Various Elements

We have used a magnetic spectrometer to study the production of charged pions in collisions of 600-MeV neutrons with nuclei of Be, C, Al, Cu, and Pb over a wide range of angles. For these nuclei we have obtained at five angles (16, 30, 60, 90, and 123°) the spectra of pions of both signs, on the basis of which we have found the cross sections, atomic-number dependences, and angular distributions of pion production. The influence of a number of effects on the characteristics of pion production in nuclei is discussed. The analysis performed permits us to obtain a qualitative picture of the basic regulari- ties of pion production.

Large-Angle Elastic Scattering of Negative Pions by Protons at 1.51, 2.01, and 2.53 Bev/c

Lai, Kwan Wu ;

Inspire Record 1408825 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.70519

The differential elastic scattering cross sections for negative pions on ; protons were measured at incident momenta of 1.51, 2.01, and 2.53 Bev/c with ; emphasis on the angular region outside the diffraction peak. The purpose of the ; experiment was to examine the behavior of the largeangle differential elastic ; cross section as a function of energy from the energy of the highest known ; resonance in the pion-nucleon system into the region where the total. cross ; sections appear to be approaching an asymptotic value. The experiment was ; performed at the Bevatron, using a luminescent chamber system to photograph the ; tracks of the scattered pion and the recoil proton from a liquid hydrogen target. ; A total of 2412 elastic scatterings were analyzed at 1.51 Bev/c, 1300 events at ; 2.01 Bev/c, and 1080 events at 2.53 Bev/c. From the existing data it may be ; noted that the backward bump, which has a maximum height of 2.1 mb/sr at 900 Mev ; and 1.1 mb/sr at 1020 Mev, is down to 0.4 mb/sr at 1.51 Bev/c (1.37 Bev), and is ; not present at 2.01 or 2.53 Bev/c. The angular distributions behind the ; diffraction peak at 2.01 and 2.53 Bev/c are rougly constant, decreasing from 0.18 ; mb/sr at 2.01 Bev/c to 0.125 mb/sr at 2.53 Bev/c. Although the data can be taken ; to suggest some oscillatory structure in this region, they are not inconsistent ; with an isotropic distribution that might be interpreted as evidence for an S-; wave scattering behind the diffraction peak. The 1 GeV high resolution proton nucleus scattering is reviewed. The effects from nuclear correlations are considered in detail. The sensitivity of differential cross sections to the one particle density and NN amplitude parameters are demonstrated. An analysis of the elastic proton scattering from the zero-spin nuclei and the obtained information on the neutron and matter distributions are presented. The scattering from a few nonspherical light nuclei is analysed. The first results on proton-nucleus polarization are discussed.
