Data are presented from a high statistics bubble chamber experiment to study K − p interactions in the c.m. energy range 1775 to 1957 MeV. For the reactions K − p → K − p, K − p → K 0 n , K − p → Λπ 0 and K − p → Σ ± π ∓ channel cross sections, differential cross sections and, where appropriate, polarisation distributions have been obtained. The channel cross sections for K − p → Σ 0 π 0 are presented. In general the results are in agreement with those previously published although a significant discrepancy has been found in the Σ ± π ∓ cross sections at the lower energies. New measurements of the Σ ± lifetimes have also been obtained ( τ Σ − = 1.49 ± 0.03 × 10 −10 sec, τ Σ + = 0.807 ± 0.013 × 10 −10 sec).

KL --> 3PI USED TO MEASURE ABSOLUTE CROSS SECTIONS AT 530 MEV/C.
Experimental results on the K L 0 p → K S 0 p reaction at 11 laboratory momenta between 300 and 800 MeV/ c are presented. The data are used to discriminate among the various sets of phase shifts for K + N scattering in the I = 0 state.

The reaction of tp → pdn in 4π geometry was investigated by exposition of an 80 cm liquid hydrogen bubble chamber to a t-nucleus beam of 2.5 GeV/ c momentum. The main characteristics of the reaction are described reasonably well by the pole approximation in the absolute normalization and without free parameters.

The angular distribution of 2720 tracks of 1085 hadronic final states produced from (e+e-) annihilation has been studied in the 1.2 to 3.0 GeV total centre-of-mass energy range. If we parametrize the angular distribution in terms off(θ) =1 + A cos2 θ, where 6 is the angle between the hadronic track produced and the colliding-beam direction, the results show thatA is less than 0.21, with 90% confidence.

Inclusive ϱ 0 and φ production is investigated in K + p interactions at 32 GeV/ c . Total and semi-inclusive ϱ 0 and φ cross sections, longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions, including 〈 P T versus x dependence are presented. No evidence for a sea-gull effect is observed. Comparison with quark models strongly suggests the possibility that a large fraction of the ϱ 0 and vector mesons are produced as fragmentation products of the incident particles. Study of uncorrelated π + π − pairs in the ϱ 0 mass range provides possible indirect evidence for the existence of diquarks in the proton.
