Momentum spectra for forward Σ− production on beryllium by protons of momentum 25.8 and 29.4 GeVc are presented. Data for the two primary proton momenta are compared for scaling behavior in the invariant cross section. In addition, the observed single-particle momentum distributions are compared with single-particle spectra from other inclusive reactions initiated by protons.

Production of High Transverse Momentum Low Mass Electron - Positron Pairs in High-energy $p p$ Collisions

Chilingarov, A. ; Clark, A.G. ; Darriulat, P. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 151 (1979) 29-45, 1979.
Inspire Record 133024 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.34778

The production of electron-positron pairs of masses below 1200 MeV/ c 2 and of transverse momentum above 1.8 GeV/ c has been studied in pp collisions at √ s = 53 and 63 GeV. The cross section for ϱ, ω, and φ production are presented. The continuum below 600 MeV/ c 2 is consistent with origination from Dalitz decays of η and ω mesons and from semileptonic decay of D and D mesons.

Study of Slow Inclusive Protons in K+ p Interactions at 16-GeV/c

The reaction K + p → p + X is studied at a beam momentum of 16 GeV/ c using the events where a slow proton with momentum p lab < 1.2 GeV/ c is identified by its bubble density. The inclusive spectra presented and compared with those obtained in K + p interactions at 32 GeV/ c and K − p interactions at 14.3 GeV/ c . The prominent features associated with a triple-Regge formula are found to be consistent with the data. It is shown that the Δ ++ (1236) production strongly affects the shape of the inclusive spectra and the results of the triple-Regge fit. After removal of events associated with Δ ++ (1236) production, the data are consistent with the dominance of an ffR coupling.

Rho0 and f Production in pi+ p Interactions

The Aachen-Berlin-Bonn-CERN-Cracow-Heidelberg-Warsaw collaboration Deutschmann, M. ; Kirk, H. ; Sixel, P. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 103 (1976) 426-444, 1976.
Inspire Record 100796 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.36056

Inclusive ϱ 0 and f(1270) production are analysed in π + p collisions at 8, 16 and 23 GeV/ c . The ϱ 0 cross section increases with energy such that the ϱ 0 /π − ratio remains constant. Emphasis is laid on cross sections as a function of the transverse momentum and of the Feynman x variable. The ϱ 0 's can be attributed to two sources: some ϱ 0 's are centrally produced, but there is a pronounced forward peak. The distribution of leptons coming from ϱ 0 decay is discussed.

Data from a study of electron pairs produced in pp collisions (√ s = 5 and 63 GeV) are used to extend measurements of the scaling function down to m /√ s ≈ 0.07 (4.5 < m < 19 GeV). The dilepton continuum can be described by the scaling formula (fx475-1)

{Drell-Yan} Events From 400-{GeV}/$c$ Protons: Determination of the $K$ Factor in a Large Kinematical Domain

Inspire Record 199644 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.16140

We present the analysis of ∼30,000 high mass dimuons (Mμμ>4.5 GeV/c2) produced in 400 GeV/c proton-platinum interactions. A determination of theK-factor is given for different values ofxF andMμμ, and its variations are compared to QCD predictions. The proton structure functions derived from these events are compared to the values obtained in deep inelastic lepton scattering.

Diffraction Dissociation of High Energy Protons on Hydrogen and Deuterium Targets

Phys.Rev.Lett. 39 (1977) 1432, 1977.
Inspire Record 121766 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21002

We report results from a measurement of the inclusive processes pp→Xp and pd→Xd in the range 5<Mx2s<0.1, 0.01≲|t|≲0.1 (GeV/c)2, and incident proton momenta of 65, 154, and 372 GeV/c. Both pp and pd data show an exponential t dependence and a dominant 1Mx2 behavior for Mx2s≲0.05. By comparing pp and pd data we test factorization and, using the Glauber model, we measure the XN total cross section, σXN=43±10 mb.

Excitation of High-Energy Protons Into Low Mass States in p d Interactions

Phys.Rev.Lett. 35 (1975) 763, 1975.
Inspire Record 99830 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21129

We have measured p−d inelastic scattering at small momentum transfer by detecting the slow-recoil deuterons from a deuterium-gas-jet target. The coherent diffraction dissociation of protons on deuterons was studied in the region 0.03<|t|<0.07 (GeV/c)2, 1.4<MX2<4 GeV2, and for energies from 50 to 275 GeV. In this region, the diffractive cross section exhibits structure and is dominated by an enhancement at MX2∼1.9 GeV2.

Diffraction Dissociation of High-Energy Protons in p d Interactions

Phys.Rev.Lett. 35 (1975) 766, 1975.
Inspire Record 99831 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21128

We report results from a measurement of the inclusive process p+d→X+d in the region 0.03<|t|<0.12 (GeV/c)2 and 5 GeV2<MX2≲0.11plab for incident proton momenta from 150 to 400 GeV/c. We find that in this region, the differential cross section d2σdtdMX2 varies only slowly with energy, falls exponentially with |t|, and behaves to a good approximation as 1MX2. The measurement was performed at Fermilab by detecting slow-recoil deuterons from a deuterium-gas-jet target placed at the internal beam of the accelerator.

Experimental Study of Muon Pairs Produced by 252-GeV Pions on Tungsten

Conway, J.S. ; Adolphsen, C.E. ; Alexander, J.P. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 39 (1989) 92-122, 1989.
Inspire Record 280845 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23151

We present the results of a study of muon pairs with invariant masses greater than 4.05 GeV/c2 produced in high-energy pion-nucleon interactions. The production cross section together with the inferred pion and nucleon structure functions are reported and compared with other experiments and with QCD predictions. The transverse-momentum distributions are also presented. Finally, the full angular distribution in cosθ and φ is given as a function of mass, Feynman x, and transverse momentum. Longitudinal photon polarization is seen in the lower portion of the mass range at high xπ. This result is compared with a higher-twist model.
