Total and semi-inclusive cross sections, longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions and spin density matrix elements of theK*+(892) andK*0(892) produced in the inclusive reactionsK+p→K*+(892)+X andK+p→K*0(892)+X at 32 GeV/c are studied in detail. The inclusive spectra of theK*(892) and their decay products are compared with pion and neutral kaon production. TheK*+(892) andK*+(892) are dominantly produced by kaon fragmentation processes. The dependence of average transverse momentum <pT> vs.x for resonances has been investigated for the first time.

The total cross sections for interactions of K+ and 1r+ mesons with protons were measured. The following values were obtained: 21.3 ± 4.6 mb and 21 ± 4.3 mb for 4.75 ± 0.15 Bev/c and 3.7 ± 0.1 Bev/c K+ mesons, respectively; the corresponding values for 1r+ mesons of the same momenta were 33.3 ± 1.3mb and 30 ± 1.2mb. Data on the cross sections for inelastic collisions of K+ and 1r+ mesons with various nuclei have also been obtained.

$K^+$ nucleon elastic scattering at 180° between 1.0 and 1.5 GeV/c incident momentum

Adams, U. ; Carter, R.S. ; Cook, V. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys. B87 (1975) 41-51, 1975.
Inspire Record 1392682 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32061

We have measured the cross section at 180° for K + p and K + n elastic scattering in the momentum range 1.0 to 1.5 GeV/ c . The K + n cross section was measured on deuterium and the K + p on hydrogen and deuterium. We were thus able to measure directly the difference between free nucleon (proton) scattering and bound nucleon (proton) scattering at large angles. This difference was found to be small and within our experimental accuracy the K + p(n) cross section should be equal to the K + p (free) cross section at 180°. We found no evidence for an s -channel resonance Z ∗ in either the K + p or K + n system. A comparison of our data and those of other groups with theoretical predictions is given.

In a study of K + p interactions at 12.7 GeV/ c we have carried out a search for meson resonances having any one of the following properties: (a) a strangeness of S =2, (b) S =1 and isotopic spin of I= 3 2 , or (c) S =1, I= 1 2 and decaying into an antihyperon ( Y ) and a nucleon (N).

A phase shift analysis of the K + p elastic scattering at 780 MeV/c has been performed. The experimental differential cross section is best explained by a solution with dominant s wave, negative s wave phase shift (−42.7 ± 1 deg.) and small contributions of p and d waves.

Backward elastic K + p and K − p scattering has been measured in the angular interval 168 o < θ c.m. < 177 o . We find ( d σ/ d Ω) K + p → pK + = 17 ± 4 μ b / sr and ( d σ/ d Ω) K − p → pK − < 0.6 μ b / sr . K + p elastic scattering exhibits a backward peak.

Measurement of the reactions $K^+ d\to K^+ d$ and $K^+ d \to p^+ p n$ and an investigation of elastic $K^+$-nucleon scattering at 4.6 GeV/ c

The coherent elastic reaction K + d → K + d and the break-up reaction K + d → K + pn are studied in a K + d experiment at 4.6 GeV/ c which the CERN 2 m bubble chamber. Partial and differential cross sections are given and the slopes of the differential cross sections are determined. The results for the reaction K + d → K + p(n s ), where n s denotes the spectator neutron, are compared with those of the reaction K + p → K + p on free protons. Combining our data with existing data on the reactions K + d → K 0 pp and K + p → K + p, parameters of the elastic K + -nucleon scattering at 4.6 GeV/ c are determined in the framework of the Glauber model. The D-wave of the deuteron and spin-flip effects are taken into account.

Longitudinal momentum distributions of π− mesons produced in 12.7 GeV/c K+p and 7 GeV/c π+p interactions

Stone, S.L. ; Cohen, D. ; Farber, M. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys. B32 (1971) 19-28, 1971.

The center of mass longitudinal momentum distributions of π− mesons produced in K+p interactions at 12.7 GeV/c and in π+p interactions at 7 GeV/c exhibit an asymmetry similar to that observed, for example, in single particle production in 25 GeV/c π−p interactions. This asymmetry is discussed in terms of quark structure of hadrons and other dynamical models.
