The spin correlation parameter A oonn and the analyzing powers A oono and A ooon were measured simultaneously, in the energy range 0.5–0.8 GeV and in the angular region 40°–80° CM. The experiment used the polarized proton beam of SATURNE II and the Saclay frozen spin polarized target.

Measurements of the spin observables ANN(90∘) and AN0(90∘) for the reaction pp→dπ+ between 500 and 800 MeV are presented and compared with previous measurements and with predictions from theories and a partial-wave analysis. These are the first available measurements of ANN above 590 MeV.

The reaction\(\bar pp \to \bar \Lambda \Lambda \) has been studied in a bubble chamber experiment at eight incident momenta between 1.50 and 2.06 GeV/c. The differential cross-section, the polarization and the spin correlation coefficients have been measured. They have been compared with the prediction of two theoretical models: the K-meson conspiracy and the exchange of the K*K** degenerate trajectory associated with a Regge cut. The latter model gives the best representation of the data.

Target asymmetry for neutral pi meson photoproduction on polarized protons at 4 GeV in the forward direction

The asymmetry A = (σ + −σ − ) (σ + +σ − ) of the reaction γ p↑↓ → π 0 p was measured at the Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron DESY, Hamburg at a mean photon energy of 4.0 GeV in the four-momentum transfer range 0.2 (GeV/ c ) 2 ⩽ −t ⩽ 1.1 (GeV/ c ) 2 in steps of approximately 0.08 (GeV/ c ) 2 . The π 0 -meson and the proton were detected in coincidence. The asymmetry is compatible with zero in the t -range 0.2 (GeV/ c ) 2 ⩽ − t ⩽ 0.4 (GeV/ c ) 2 and negative in the t -range ⩾ 0.5 (GeV/ c ) 2 .

Measurement of the Transverse Spin Dependence of the p p Total Cross-Section in the 1-GeV/c-3-GeV/c Region

The pp total cross section difference between pure transverse spin states was measured in the laboratory momentum range 1–3 GeV/ c . Significant differences were found and these differences show striking energy dependence. This structure is in disagreement with the predictions of simple exchange models.
