We have measured the scale invariant inclusive photon and π0 cross sections atW=14, 22 and 34 GeV. A comparison with π± data shows no significant difference between neutral and charged pion production. Comparing the integrated cross sections in thex range 0.15<x<1.0 we observe a considerable decrease from 14 GeV to 34 GeV with a statistical significance of 1.5 standard deviations. This is compatible with the expectations for scaling violations from QCD.

Measurement of Inclusive $\gamma$ and $\pi^0$ Spectra and a Comparison of the Neutral and Charged Components in Hadronic Events in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation at 34-{GeV}

The photonic part of multihadronice+e− annihilation events has been analyzed at a c.m. energy of 34 GeV. The photonic energy fraction per event is determined to befγ=0.251±0.003 (stat.) ±0.04 (syste.). The neutral and charged components of the events are analyzed separately revealing close similarity in thrust axis directions and momentum distributions in agreement with the hypothesis that most photons result from π0 decay. π0's are reconstructed separately and used to determine the inclusive cross section. Comparing these cross sections with lower energy data from SPEAR we find some indication for scaling violation.

We have observed decays of the ϒ(1S) into hadronic final states containing high-energy photons. These are interpreted as coming from the decay ϒ(1S)→γ+gluon+gluon. We compare the shape of the observed photon energy spectrum with several theoretical predictions and deduce the value of the strong-coupling constant αs and the QCD scale parameter ΛMS― (MS― denotes the modified minimal-subtraction scheme) associated with each prediction.

Measurement of Inclusive $\gamma$, $\pi^0$ and $\eta$ Production in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation at $s^1$/2 = 35-{GeV}

We have measured the inclusive production of γ, π0 and η ine+e− annihilation at the center of mass energy of 35 GeV. The differential cross sections, extended to the kinematical limit and measured with high accuracy, are found to be in good agreement with previously reported results. Using the measured spectra we determine the average multiplicity for each of these particle species.

The inclusive production rates and differential cross-sections of photons and mesons with a final state containing photons have been measured with the OPAL detector at LEP. The light mesons covered by the measurements are the \pi^0, \eta, \rho(770)+-, \omega(782), \eta'(958) and a_0(980)+-. The particle multiplicities per hadronic Z^0 decay, extrapolated to the full energy range, are: <n_\gamma> = 20.97 +/- 0.02 +/- 1.15, <n_\pi^0> = 9.55 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.75, <n_\eta> = 0.97 +/- 0.03 +/- 0.11, <n_\rho^+-> = 2.40 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.43, <n_\omega> = 1.04 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.14, <n_\eta> = 0.14 +/- 0.01 +/- 0.02, <n_a_0+-> = 0.27 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.10. where the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. In general, the results are in agreement with the predictions of the JETSET and HERWIG Monte Carlo models.

Search for Anomalous Single Photon Production at {PEP}

Phys.Rev.Lett. 56 (1986) 685, 1986.
Inspire Record 218333 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20247

This Letter reports a search for the production by e+e− annihilation of a single photon accompanied by particles that interact only weakly in matter. The search was performed at the SLAC e+e− storage ring PEP (√s =29 GeV) with a new detector, ASP. No unexpected signal was observed. The limit Nν<14 (90% C.L.) is placed on the number of light neutrino species, and the mass of scalar electrons predicted by theories of supersymmetry is constrained to mẽ>51 GeV/c2 (90% C.L.) for mγ̃=0 and degenerate ẽ mass states.

We have studied single photon production in e + e − annihilation based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 164.1 pb −1 at s =58 GeV . The single photon yield is consistent with the prediction of the standard model with three light neutrino species. No anomalous signal has been observed. From this result left- and right-handed scalar electrons in the mass degenerate case are excluded at 90% CL below 44.4 GeV/ c 2 for the massless photino.

Direct Photon Production at the $\psi$

Inspire Record 153865 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24079

We present results of a detailed analysis of inclusive direct photon production at the ψ(3095). The direct-photon momentum distribution for x>0.4 is presented and compared with the leading-order quantum-chromodynamic prediction. The total production rate is found to be consistent with theoretical expectations, but the observed momentum distribution is considerably softer. Results of an analysis of some inclusive properties of the hadronic system recoiling against the direct photon are presented. The mean charged-particle and Ks multiplicities are presented as functions of the invariant mass of the hadronic system. These data agree well with the corresponding mean multiplicities measured in e+e− annihilations at center-of-mass energies comparable to the invariant mass of the hadronic system.

Inclusive $\gamma$ and $\pi^0$ Production in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation

Phys.Rev.Lett. 41 (1978) 1005, 1978.

We have measured inclusive γ and π0 production in multiprong events produced by e+e− annihilation in the center-of-mass energy range 4.9 to 7.4 GeV. We find the π0 inclusive cross section to be consistent in shape and normalization with half the charged-π cross section between x=0.15 and 0.60, with an integrated inclusive cross-section ratio of σ(π0)|σ(π+)+σ(π−)|=0.47±0.10.
