We have studied the reactions K+p→K0Δ++(1236) at 15.7 GeVc, K−p→K¯0n at 10.7 and 15.7 GeVc, and K−p→K¯0Δ0(1236) at 15.7 GeVc in the BNL Double Vee Magnetic Spectrometer. The π+ and π− from the decays of forward K0's were detected and the above reactions were identified by a missing-mass technique. Total and differential cross sections are presented for the first two reactions and a total cross section for the third.

We present new measurements of the differential cross sections for K − p → K 0 n at 3, 4, 5 and 6 GeV/ c , where we have 248, 538, 761, and 376 events, respectively. Total cross sections are obtained by integrating the differential cross sections. We combine our data with other data from 3 to 15.7 GeV/ c to calculate an effective Regge trajectory for this reaction. Comparisons are made to predictions from exchange degeneracy and SU(3) sum rules.

Cross sections for p ̄ p → n ̄ n at 25 and 35 GeV/ c have been measured. The cross sections decrease with increasing momentum as 1/ P 2 . A narrow peak is observed in the momentum transfer interval 0 ⩽ − t ≲ 0.02 (GeV/ c 2 in the differential cross sections. Neither ϱ nor A 2 exchange contribute to the process in the investigated energy range.

Measurements were made of the differential cross sections for the charge exchange of K − mesons on protons at momenta of 25 and 40 GeV/ c using a high-precision spectrometer with no magnetic field. In the range 5–40 GeV/ c the reaction cross section follows a power-law dependence p K − −1.52 . In the snall momentum transfer region (− t ⪅ m π 2 ) a minimum is observed, similar to that discovered at lower energies. The differential cross sections t = 0 are considerably less than those predicted by the Regge-pole model. The parameters of the effective trajectory are determined.

We present results on three reactions involving neutral final states which were studied in a magnet spark chamber system. These results are: (a) differential cross section with high statistics for K − p → K 0 n at 5 GeV /c (24 000 events) and at 8 GeV/ c (11 000 events) for t′ <2.0 (GeV/ c ) 2 ; (b) differential cross section and polarization for K − p → Λπ 0 (backward peak) at 5 GeV/ c for u ′ < 1.4 GeV/ c ) 2 ; and (c) differential cross section for K − p → K 0 Δ 0 (1232) at 5 GeV /c for t′ < 1.2 ( GeV /c) 2 . We compare our results with existing data and draw some phenomenological conclusions.

We present data on K − p reactions leading to the final states K 0 n , π 0 Λ, ηΛ, η'Λ, π − Σ + , K 0 Δ 0 (1230), and π − Σ + (1385) from a bubble chamber experiment at 14.3 GeV/ c K − lab momentum. Total and differential cross sections, Λ and Σ ∓ polarisations in π 0 Λ and π − Σ + final states as well as the Σ + (1385) density matrix elements are given.

Differential cross sections for the line-reversed reaction pairs K + 0p → K o Δ ++ (1236), K − n → K ̄ o Δ − (1236) and K − p → K ̄ o n , K + n → K o p have been measured with good statistics at 4 and 6 GeV/ c . The line reversal breaking for the Δ (1236) reactions is found to have no significant variation with energy and to be larger than for the charge exchange reactions. The cross sections for all four reactions show a dip in the forward direction, indicating the importance of spin-flip amplitudes.

The K − p → K 0 n polarization has been measured at 8 GeV/ c and for − t values ranging from 0 up tp 1.2 (GeV/ c ) 2 . A negative polarization has been found.

Results are presented on the reaction K − p → K̄ o n for momenta above 20 GeV/ c . Events were identified by precise measurement of the opening angle in the decay K o → π + π − without using a magnetic field. The cross-section is described by a power energy dependence.

K − p reactions have been studied at 13 different incident momenta between 1138 and 1434 MeV/ c . This interval corresponds to a mass of the K − p system varying from 1858 to 1993 MeV. About 300 000 photographs were taken in the 81 cm Saclay hydrogen bubble chamber exposed to a separated K − beam at the CERN proton-synchrotron. A total of about 44 000 events were analyzed, from which partial and differential cross sections were determined. Polarizations were obtained for the two-body reactions where the decay of the Λ or Σ hyperon allowed their measurement. Data for the two-body channels are presented here as well as for the main quasi-two-body reactions.
