Transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) spectra of charged particles at mid-pseudorapidity in Xe-Xe collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5.44 TeV measured with the ALICE apparatus at the Large Hadron Collider are reported. The kinematic range $0.15 < p_{\rm T} < 50$ GeV/$c$ and $|\eta| < 0.8$ is covered. Results are presented in nine classes of collision centrality in the 0-80% range. For comparison, a pp reference at the collision energy of $\sqrt{s}$ = 5.44 TeV is obtained by interpolating between existing \pp measurements at $\sqrt{s}$ = 5.02 and 7 TeV. The nuclear modification factors in central Xe-Xe collisions and Pb-Pb collisions at a similar center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV, and in addition at 2.76 TeV, at analogous ranges of charged particle multiplicity density $\left\langle\rm{d}N_{\rm ch}/\rm{d}\eta\right\rangle$ show a remarkable similarity at $p_{\rm T}> 10$ GeV/$c$. The comparison of the measured $R_{\rm AA}$ values in the two colliding systems could provide insight on the path length dependence of medium-induced parton energy loss. The centrality dependence of the ratio of the average transverse momentum $\left\langle p_{\rm{T}}\right\rangle$ in Xe-Xe collisions over Pb-Pb collision at $\sqrt{s}$ = 5.02 TeV is compared to hydrodynamical model calculations.

Light fragment emission correlated with large transverse momentum protons in 94 MeV/u $^{16}$O induced reactions

Inspire Record 1389762 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.36872

Angular, multiplicity and velocity distributions as well as azimuthai asymmetries of light fragments (Z = 1 and 2) correlated with large transverse momentum protons detected at 90° have been measured in 16O + 27Al collisions at 94 MeV/u. Data are compared with a model based on the standard high-energy fireball geometry coupled with the Weisskopf theory of evaporation. Reasonable agreement is achieved with the exception of some discrepancies which could arise either from the absence of specific intermediate-energy corrections or from a non-statistical process.

Measurement of the mid-rapidity transverse energy distribution from s(NN)**(1/2) = 130-GeV Au + Au collisions at RHIC

The first measurement of energy produced transverse to the beam direction at RHIC is presented. The mid-rapidity transverse energy density per participating nucleon rises steadily with the number of participants, closely paralleling the rise in charged-particle density, such that E_T / N_ch remains relatively constant as a function of centrality. The energy density calculated via Bjorken's prescription for the 2% most central Au+Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN)=130 GeV is at least epsilon_Bj = 4.6 GeV/fm^3 which is a factor of 1.6 larger than found at sqrt(s_NN)=17.2 GeV (Pb+Pb at CERN).

130 GeV is sqrt(S) per nucleon-nucleon collision. The statistical errors are negligible and only systematic errors are quoted. COL(NAME=CENTRALITY) is centrality.

We present results for the charged-particle multiplicity distribution at mid-rapidity in Au - Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN)=130 GeV measured with the PHENIX detector at RHIC. For the 5% most central collisions we find $dN_{ch}/d\eta_{|\eta=0} = 622 \pm 1 (stat) \pm 41 (syst)$. The results, analyzed as a function of centrality, show a steady rise of the particle density per participating nucleon with centrality.

130 GeV is sqrt(S) per nucleon-nucleon collision. N(C=N_NUCLEONS) and N(C=N_COLLISONS) are the number of participating nucleons and binary collisions. The statistical errors are negligible and only systematic errors are quoted. COL(NAME=CENTRALITY) is centrality.

Multiplicity distributions of charged particles produced in the pseudorapidity range 0.9 < η lab < 5.5 were measured in oxygen-nucleus collisions for Al, Ag, and W target nuclei at incident energies of 60 and 200 GeV per nucleon. The multiplicity differential cross sections and the pseudorapidity distributions as a function of transverse energy are presented for the various target nuclei. The correlation between charged multiplicity and transverse energy is studied as a function of transverse energy. Data are compared with predictions of the IRIS and FRITIOF generators.
