Measurements of the cross section for the reaction p+p→π0+anything have been completed. The data cover a range of incident proton energies 50-400 GeV, π0 transverse momenta 0.3-4 GeV/c, and laboratory angles 30-275 mrad. The experiment was performed using the internal proton beam at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. A lead-glass counter was used to detect photons from the decay of π0's produced by collisions in thin targets of hydrogen or carbon. Tables of the measured cross sections are presented.

A Study of Inclusive Spectra and Two Particle Correlations at Large Transverse Momentum

Busser, F.W. ; Camilleri, L. ; Di Lella, L. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 106 (1976) 1-30, 1976.
Inspire Record 108294 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.8491

The inclusive production of π and η mesons at 90° from proton-proton collisions has been measured at the CERN ISR at centre-of-mass energies between 23.5 and 62.4 GeV. The momentum correlation of charged particles emitted together with a large transverse momentum pion has also been studied, using two magnetic spectrometers each centred at 90°.

Large Transverse Momentum $\pi^0$ Production in Proton Proton, Deuteron Proton, and Deuteron-deuteron Collisions at the {CERN} {ISR}

Nucl.Phys.B 142 (1978) 189-204, 1978.
Inspire Record 130468 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35022

Measurements are presented of the inclusive π 0 production cross section, in the transverse momentum range 2.3 ⪅ p T ⪅4.5 GeV/c, for dd and dp interactions at total c.m. energies of √ s = 52.7 GeV and √ s = 63.2 GeV and for pp interactions at √ s = 52.7 GeV. The produced π 0 's are detected by identifying both protons from the decay π 0 → γγ . As in pp interactions, the data can be adequately described by a p T −n ƒ(x T ) dependence with n ≌ 8 . The data are approximately consistent with the expectations of free nucleon scattering. No significant differenceare observed in either the charged or the neutral particle distributions associated with π 0 , for dd, dp and pp interactions.

Large Transverse Momentum Photons from High-Energy Proton Proton Collisions

Nucl.Phys.B 110 (1976) 365, 1976.
Inspire Record 109343 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35743

We have performed a simultaneous measurement of the large transverse momentum (1.6 to 3.8 GeV/ c ) yields of single photons and of photon pairs at 90° production angle in pp collisions at ISR energies. Production cross sections for each of these two processes are compared.

Phys.Lett.B 158 (1985) 282-288, 1985.
Inspire Record 213984 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30391

We have measured the production of direct photons, π 0 's, and η's in p p and pp collisions at √ s =53 GeV in the range 2≈ p T ≈6 GeV/ c for the central rapidity region | y | 0.4. No statistically significant difference between pp̄ and pp interactions is observed.

Inclusive pi0 Production at Large Transverse Momentum from pi+- p and p p Interactions at 100-GeV/c and 200-GeV/c

Phys.Rev.Lett. 36 (1976) 1110, 1976.
Inspire Record 108958 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21118

We have measured large-transverse-momentum (p⊥) inclusive π0 production at c.m. angles centered near 90° for π±p and pp interactions at 100 and 200 GeV/c. This is the first such measurement using a pion beam. The ratio σ(pp→π0X)σ(πp→π0X) decreases with increasing p⊥ and is independent of energy when expressed as a function of x⊥=p⊥pmax. We compare the data with predictions of various models.

Direct Production of High $p_T$ Single Photons at the {CERN} Intersecting Storage Rings

The Athens-Athens-Brookhaven-CERN collaboration Diakonou, M. ; Kourkoumelis, C. ; Resvanis, L.K. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 87 (1979) 292-296, 1979.
Inspire Record 143254 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27293

Single photon production in pp collisions at 30 < √ s < 62 GeV has been measured with liquid-argon-lead calorimeters at the CERN ISR. This process remains approximately constant with increasing √ s . For fixed √ s , the single photon to π 0 ratio increases strongly with increase in p T . The γ π 0 ratio is about 0.2 for p T above 4.5 GeV/c.

We present data obtained at the ISR, on the determination of the ratio R = γ π 0 at s = 30.6 GeV and we compare the results with our previous measurement at s = 53.2 GeV. The ratio R = γ π 0 integrated over the interval 0.1 ⩽ χ T ⩽ 0.2 is (1.6 ± 0.5) × 10 −2 and we obtain an indication of a universal χ T dependence.

The inclusive production of π 0 at large values of p T in pp collisions at the ISR has been studied. In this experiment the two photons are resolved and separately measured for p T values of up to 6 GeV/ c , giving confidence that the desired signal has been separated from various backgrounds.

Inclusive $\pi^0$ Production at Very Large $p_T$ at the {ISR}

Kourkoumelis, C. ; Resvanis, L.K. ; Filippas, T.A. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 84 (1979) 271-276, 1979.
Inspire Record 141135 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27343

Inclusive π 0 production at 90° has been studied at the ISR at s 1 2 = 52.7 and 62.4 GeV over the p T range from 7 to 15 GeV/ c . The two photons from π 0 decay yielded overlapping electromagnetic showers in the liquid-argon-Pb plate calorimeter detector system. Any direct photon production is included in these measurements. For large values of p T , the cross section is observed to decrease with p T more slowly than the p T −8 behaviour which has been observed at lower values of p T .
